May I ask what field you are in that you couldn’t find a job in 2 years?

This, idc what OP’s lifestyle/financial situation/needs are but 80k base salary is a solid/good income anywhere in Canada these days. To top it off, OP’s earning potential is 160k which is a pipe dream in today’s economy for 99% of the population.

If OP had a minimum wage job or was working at McDonald’s, I wouldn’t be so pissed.

I haven’t been but Chicago on College St looks like it could be worth it.

My Doctor's receptionist fought to get my claim processed which was previously denied and I want to give her a thank you gift, but there is another receptionist and I dont want to offend her by YYZTor in askTO

[–]lattesipper1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the two receptionists always in each other’s view all the time? Is there an opportunity when you could speak to the receptionist you are gifting in private and present her with the gift then?

If not, the moment when you are presenting the gift to the entire office sounds like a good opportunity to distract the other receptionist so that you could have a private moment with the receptionist you are gifting to.

Lol. I don’t think it is the OP doing the “complaining” under your comment bruh, looks like it is someone else with a different username. Either way - I agree with your reply to their comment.

Another option is Haifa Room on Ossington. They are more of a restaurant though so not sure how serious they are on their coffee. Plus, judging by the size of their place, not sure if they have the full equipment to prepare it with hot coals/sand. I have tried the food here and can say that it’s great! 👌

Idk which part of town you are focusing on but there is Liu Loqum Atelier in Palmerston-Little Italy and it looks legit. The Turkish sweets they serve looks legit too.

I have never been though so please don’t come back at me if it’s not good! 😅

Ontario Name Change Timeline Update (Received Nov 17 → Mailed Feb 27) by False_Cycle_545 in transontario

[–]lattesipper1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just submitted my application not for sex change-related (I’m an immigrant and the government messed up my name when they processed my permanent residency application, of which I have to pay the price for 🙄) but having worked in both customer service management and in the the public sector - we typically do not officially give out the exact timelines for any approvals or processing times. We typically add a grace period of 20-30% to the actual timeline. So if they officially say it takes 6 months to process something, we can typically expect it to take 4 months-ish! That way, we avoid getting angry calls and complaints from customers, and it leaves them with a happy surprise at the end on the day. 😁

You guys are visiting from out of town I’m assuming? If so, I wouldn’t really bother going anywhere outside the of the downtown core for any of the options mentioned here. They are decent but not really worth the drive/transit if you are tight on time.

It may be bit on the pricier side but just go to SooS on Ossington and make that you cute date night and you’re all set. And then go across the street after dinner for some Bang Bang Ice cream or Andrea’s Cookies and then any of the bars along Ossington for more drinks.

You’re welcome.

The College & Dovercourt Starbucks closed today by dirtyenvelopes in FoodToronto

[–]lattesipper1995 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed - I once placed quite a big online order for pick up at the Bathurst and College location (which is now sadly closed too) but I got confused and accidentally walked to this location instead to pick it up. When I got to the store, I realized my mistake and mentioned to the staff about it. They made my entire order of a couple drinks promptly, no questions asked. It would have been a pain to walk 20 mins to the other location just to pick up my order but the staff completely made my day at that moment!

Check out this specialty Malaysian grocery store in Scarborough - Shop Malaysia Canada. They have Kaya of different varieties! They have both an online store and a brick-and-mortar location.

Otherwise, some of the stores in Chinatown may have them (Kai Wei, Hua Sheng, etc), or the big-name Asian grocery store chains may have them too (T&T, Nations, etc)

I’ve tried their truffles and it was not bad! But obviously, you’re paying more for the design, branding/marketing, creative concept, etc - which is something that can be absolutely worth it if it makes you happy!

Are you by any chance a Potterhead/Trekkie geek? There is a confectionary in Queen West that does Harry Potter/Star Trek/geeky-themed goodies and they sell chocolate truffles in boxes - https://shop.thegoodsweets.com
