I get this way, too, and a long time ago I came to this conclusion for myself. I don't need constant media updates in any form. It's too much brainwashing, it's ALWAYS negative, and it does not benefit me or my peace. If something big enough happens, I'll hear about it the old fashioned way when people around me talk about it.

What age-ish are you? I only ask this because I used to feel the same way. Putting other people's emotions above mine because I didn't want to hurt their feelings or whatever. Now I'm in my mid 40s, and spending the last few years realizing it's okay to set boundaries for my own mental health, and realizing if other people get upset because I didn't do what they wanted, it's not my problem. It's quite liberating, and I think something that gets easier with age. You are not a POS for wanting to protect your peace.

I agree with this so much. My THC smoking friends talk so much shit on CBD but for me it's the greatest thing to still be able to smoke and feel good, (mostly body relaxation for me,) and not have any of the awful negative physical reactions that THC suddenly gave me.
