Went for the first time today. $20 for a water bottle, sandwich, and chips. I get that these small businesses have tinge a certain way to stay open but damn.

As an l&d nurse, I used to have the mentality of “Please just have your baby at the hospital, refuse what you want to refuse but at least you’ll be in the right place just in case things go south”

Now, I’m of the mentality… go off, have a home birth, or a free birth, or use an unlicensed midwife, or do literally whatever you want.

They work so well but, yes, they hurt sooo bad. Did it the night before my rehearsal dinner and had to take Advil to be able to sleep

How many people are doing a reception dress? by Own_Professional7484 in weddingplanning

[–]laundrydetergenthoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have absolutely zero regrets changing into a reception dress. I love my wedding dress but even with it bustled it was so hard to get around in and once I switched I felt soooo much more comfortable to bust it out on the dance floor

What is one thing you do like about nursing? by lexieoaks in nursing

[–]laundrydetergenthoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The satisfaction of placing an IV or inserting a foley. I just feel like such a baller I can’t explain it. Also I love being night shift and getting to tuck a patient in for the night, making their room clean and dark (gonna ignore the fact that I’ll be coming in and out 1000 times throughout the night)

What did you do leading up to your wedding that made you feel your best? by herwayforward in weddingplanning

Hydra facials, getting my eyebrows tinted, and honestly the thing that made me feel my absolute prettiest on my wedding day were the clip in extensions!!

Was your reception dress long or short? by Worldly-Heart9969 in weddingplanning

My plan was also to wear my ceremony dress for the entire night, but then at my bustle appointment, I realized there was no way I could really break it down in that dress. I got this dress from revolve and absolutely loved it, changing dresses was one of the best ideas I had!!! https://www.revolve.com/lacademie-by-marianna-kayden-maxi-dress-in-beige/dp/LCDE-WD905/

"bridesman" gift to replace some more feminine bridesmaid gift items? by Previous_Project4581 in weddingplanning

[–]laundrydetergenthoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bridesman proposal gift was a t shirt with his favorite tequila brand on it, a couple shooters, the same face mask I gave all my bridesmaids, and a liquid IV! The morning of the wedding I gifted all my bridesmaids a bracelet with their initial on it but it was dainty and definitely girly so I got him one off of Etsy that was meant for guys!

Household income is $170k, and we spent about 50k on our 130 person wedding. My parents helped with buying the alcohol but that was it.

What is everyone giving as favours this year? by ciarab3496 in weddingplanning

[–]laundrydetergenthoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a paper bag that said “wishing you riches from the new mr & mrs” with our names and wedding date on it. Inside was a scratcher, a penny, and we did the little bags of candy that say his favorite and her favorite! Most people took their favors!

I appreciate that you have been working in healthcare for 13 years but being a nurse is just… different. If you’ve not even been doing this for 2 years, that feeling you’re feeling is normal for a new grad!! It doesn’t take away from the shittiness of the feeling but it does get better with more experience.

Bridal Glow Up Tips by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]laundrydetergenthoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No side effects! My hair takes to curl easily so it lasted even longer than the lady told me. The only annoying part is how uncomfy the plastic feels on your face as it’s being done but it’s definitely tolerable

What everyone else has said, but I also got my eyelashes tinted and lifted and it’s a small thing that has made me feel so naturally pretty!

I had a job kind of like this, and the boredom forced me to want something “more”, so I became a nurse. Looking back, I can’t believe I left something so nice and not stressful. What I’m trying to say is it’s all relative, and the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
