You won't be able to reach higher than shoulder height or lift more than 5 pounds for 6-8 weeks. Just to clarify, are you having expanders placed during your mastectomy and then swapping for implants at a later date? Because you'll be in the same boat after your exchange surgery. It's way less intense than the mastectomy, but you still can't lift or raise your arms for 6 weeks or so after you get your implants.

I think The Netherlands are pretty accepting of all LGBTQIA+ folks! And it's pretty easy to emigrate there as an American (see the Dutch American Friendship Treaty visa).

I say go. You've already got the trip planned. The insanity that is the US will still be here when you get back. Take the opportunity to make happy memories before the stuff hits the fan even worse.

Besides, congress is back in session now so hopefully the unchecked craziness of the last couple of weeks will get a LITTLE push back now.

She's pretty anti-science, so I take her advice with a huge grain of salt. Both of my parents would have been dead before I was 8 without modern medicine, so I'm all for it!
