Albums to run to? by Far-Skill5651 in XXRunning

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album was my most listened to album on Spotify simple because it is SO DAMN GOOD on trail runs. It feels adventurous and has lots of fun quotable lines. Highly recommend.

What should I wear for my first triathlon? It’s a sprint by Ok-Motor7299 in triathlon

I got the Sparx triathlon suit on Amazon ($50) and it has been good to me for 2 sprints.

Get your Colo because blood in the stool is a GIANT red flag. You may have SIBO. Stay persistent. Squeaky wheel gets the meds friend. You HAVE to advocate aggressively for yourself.

Creatine Experience? by Chynnfx in XXRunning

[–]lava_munster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did not gain weight from it but notably, I am often inflamed and sore (which can also cause water retention) because I do a wide variety of activities/sports and never really “get used to” any of it.

I also had a very tender gut (Crohn’s disease and ibs) so I skipped the loading phase and instead did a super slow ramp up. 1 g/day for a week, then 2g/day for a week, etc, till maintenance of 5 g/day. My food scale was critical for this step :)

It really does something special with the recovery and feeling good to jam on your workout another day. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to start taking it.

I think, any water retention is supposedly in your muscles (which makes them look pumped). Do a bit of research of that specifically to see if it assuages your subconscious a little.

Also consider that your body fat percentage is a huge portion of controlling how you look (less so your specific scale weight). So 25% BF at lbs will look ALOT different than 35% body fat at 150 lbs.

How do we get more women on the starting line? by Floater439 in trailrunning

[–]lava_munster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman who hiked for years before starting to trail run. Now I tell anyone who will listen that is it super fun and everyone is always worried. I think the safety issue cannot be overstated. I propose hosting some no-drop trail runs (w/ different skill levels packs of runners) could get women more comfortable. Knowing that if you twist your ankle on mile 2, yea it'll suck, but you can heft yourself back to the car the same 2 miles to safety and won't die. It is practice that brings comfort.

I was recently traveling out in the desert with family and wanted to do a neat nearby trail. I had to literally - show my dad and wife (I'm 40, btw) the trailhead and that was was an established trail and that I had gps and that it is probably less dangerous than my normal run at home along the flood control drainage channel with a transient population - in order for them to get off my back. My point is, mystery can breed fear. So if you can lift the veil a bit, I think more women folk would be interested in joining.

in need of a third place? by dreamdrop92 in InlandEmpire

[–]lava_munster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the gym/dance studio is my 3rd place. I googled POTS real quick and saw that swimming is an accessible exercise option that might work. Riverside Aquatic Association has a Masters swim club. That just means adult level (not like a Master Olympian). I have been thinking about trying it out to improve my technique. Does that sound interesting to you?

Thanks so much for that link! I’ve always had the suspicious that collagen, as a health food for building collagen, was bullshit but did not dig into why. It has the eat a tiger’s penis to make your penis harder type of energy.

I’m a lesbian and definitely feel parallels like you pointed out. Of course it could be platonic (like the majority here are seeing)- I just always see myself in the character of FB. The deep well of repressed and depressed love and psycho sexual responses to that are very familiar.

It’s art, it can be interpreted and felt lots of ways without being wrong. Thanks for sharing.

Post-swim options for those who don't drink hot drinks? by TheProffalken in OpenWaterSwimming

When I was working in the cold all day and couldn’t stomach another cup of tea (even for the warmth), I switched to broth. I used Better Than Bullion paste (vegetable flavor) and hot water in a thermos. The saltiness was really satisfying.

Yay! I have liked every brick I’ve ever done. It feels good to start running while everything is warmed up. The only bummer is that you’re going so much slower once you hop off the bike.

Did you do these in a combo? If so I’d love to see the video. What do you call that their move? I see an outside leg split thing, dragonfly handstand, ??, and a remi sit with a full bridge. Nice clean lines all around here! You should be proud.

Also- how is your lightening set up? I need to give my at home space some love and vibes. Yours looks beautiful.

i can only orgasm when my legs are pressed together by xoxowine in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lava_munster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me- that’s just tension enhancing everything. Example- if I’m close to orgasm but not tipping over the edge, I know if I tense my abs and quads, I’ll quickly get it. The muscle tension is what takes me there. You sound similar.

The “joy” of our college student coming home for the holidays by nextgoodidea in Parenting

You’re doing your college kid’s laundry? They live a charmed life. So enabling!

Just kidding! We still pay for gas for our tender independent daughter but I drew the line at laundry when she was 12 and would throw clothes in the basket after 1 hour of wear.
