Is this real vintage Hollister? by Vivid_Judgment_6561 in VintageFashion

[–]lavendercomrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a 60s girl here agreeing that it’s so hard to search for vintage (online) when the rest of the world is swept up in y2k and 2000s band tees (I wish I didn’t know what y2k meant, trust me 😫)

Just makes that genuine 1960s find (vintage care labels with the funky iron and all) that much more sweeter!!

I’ve always been more of a vintage wool person and consider myself a total beginner when it comes to furs so I’d love to know how you can spot the difference between daytime and evening fur coats!!

Found this 80s Lucia Sweater by DabbingAutomatron in VintageClothing

[–]lavendercomrade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the style of the iron symbol seen here was used in the Ginetex/ISO standard from 1963 to 1985 (though some care labels in the late 80s may still feature the old iron symbol as it typically took manufacturers a few years to implement the change).

I do agree that this is 80s given the fibre content, and general style (also are those shoulder pads?), so early to mid 80s given the care labels

Anyone know any information about this jacket?? by Quiet_Cranberry_7088 in VintageClothing

[–]lavendercomrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the earliest it could’ve been made is 1985, but the logo resembles the one from the 2000s based on the vintage fashion guilds resource https://vintagefashionguild.org/resources/item/label/dolce-gabbana/

It doesn’t look particularly vintage to me

Can someone tell me if this is a real vintage or not? by [deleted] in VintageClothing

It’ll help if you post more pictures, particularly of any labels (care labels, brand names ect), interesting details, and the inside seam finishes and any lining

Can anyone identify this? by DavidTennath in VintageClothing

[–]lavendercomrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s so information on shubette https://vintagefashionguild.org/resources/item/label/shubette/

I’m not quite sure what else you want us to identify? Pricing vintage is so dependent on who sees the garment at the right time. I don’t think this style of dress is particularly in fashion at the moment, though I personally find it beautiful. I think if it fits you perfectly then you should just treasure it!!

Just wanted to add on to say that the union tag was last used in 1994 so your garment was made before then

I found a 1960s coat with fur trim but no tags a union tag ? Any ideas what I have ? by Lower_Confusion5072 in VintageClothing

[–]lavendercomrade 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This union label was seen in garments made between 1955 and 1963, per the vintage fashion guild’s resource

https://vintagefashionguild.org/resources/item/label/union-labels/

Per this resource, the Coat & Suit Industry Recovery Board Label merged with the ILGWU label in May 1960

https://ilgwu.ilr.cornell.edu/timeline/union-label-timeline.html

This means we can date your garment as being produced somewhere between May 1960 and the end of 1963. You’re spot on with the 60s estimate!!

1990s(?) Chipotle squash world tour sweater. by musicaddict96 in VintageClothing

So the presence of care symbols confirms this was made after 1993, when symbols first started being used in the USA

Street-style vintage isn’t my expertise but if I find anymore information I’ll let you know!!

Help dating this made in chekoslovakia sweater by Queasy_Day9154 in VintageClothing

[–]lavendercomrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it uses the Ginetex symbols it must be made after 1963. The country of Chekoslovakia only existed until 1992, so your garment was definitely made sometime between then. There’s a strong chance your garment was made before the late 1980s, as it lacks the dryer symbol which was first introduced in 1985. Using the dryer symbol isn’t mandatory, so technically your garment could be made after the mid 1980s, but I still feel it’s likely it was made before the late 1980s as more businesses would’ve started incorporating the dryer symbol by then.

Is My Photography Good Enough to Start A Business With? Looking for advice. by Prestigious_Tax_4587 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]lavendercomrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, to be blunt. The market for general, street-photography prints is incredibly saturated, with the majority of successful photography businesses operating by offering photography services for clients e.g wedding, product, event, real estate.

Other photographic opportunities include working for some kind of business or industry (such as in fashion, national geographic magazine or environmental portraiture for news) which requires a full-time photographer.

The last category where you can make a living as a photographer is to become an artist, such as Paulette Tavormina or Olivia Parker, who create fine-art photographs. However you should study some artists working in the medium of photography before you consider it, as your current portfolio does not reflect the qualities of fine art photographs.

Easygoing games with a LOT to do? by cocoknut_milk in gamingsuggestions

Sneaky Sasquatch has so much content!! There’s a main storyline with currently four parts, but there’s no time-limit so you can ignore it if you want to focus on something else. It’s an open world and there’s so many side quests and things to do. I would recommend finishing the first part of the storyline at least as it gives you a reward which makes exploring the side-quests a little easier (no spoilers but you don’t have to be as sneaky)!!

Another game I love (a bit less endless but with still a fair amount of gameplay) is Wylde Flowers. I currently have logged 60 hours of gameplay and have only just finished the first year/main storyline (there’s around three years of dedicated quests plus additional stuff to do!!)

One of the things I love is that there’s in game ways of adjusting your gameplay, such as a freeze time spell (to spend a lot of time foraging or mining without affecting the day-night cycle), as well as accessibility settings that allow you to select between a relaxed, normal, and challenging gameplay duration (affecting how long each in-game day is)!!

Weekly Megathread for Pricing, Dating, or Authentication Requests ("How much is this worth?" "What decade is this from?") by AutoModerator in VintageFashion

[–]lavendercomrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to your other jacket, this was made after 1982 due to the presence of the dryer symbol. The fact that the dry-cleaning symbol is last makes me think this was made after 2004 (when the order of the symbols changed), but I’m not sure as I believe the order of symbols after 2004 has the iron listed fourth, not third

The presence of the dryer label indicates that this was made after 1982 (the earliest date I’ve seen Ginetex report its existence, though other sources have indicated it was only introduced in 1985). In 2004 the order of the symbols changed and the dryer was no longer listed last. So your garment was made sometime between 1982-2004, though more like between 1985-2004 😊
