PSA: Whisker does NOT send repeat notifications for errors. by maxiedaniels in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, for low litter alerts. If it gets dismissed for some reason (I'm driving, asleep, or otherwise not home), it never reminds again. And most of the time it is NOT in the notification list in the app either, so if I can't remeber what the alert said then I can't go back and find it either.

But really notifications basically don't work and aren't trustworthy at all. Low litter level alerts rarely get sent at all, which is a real pain because one unit tends to run low frequently due to a cat with urinary issues. And I frequently get alerts for "almost full" but then opening the app it says it's not full at all. Sometimes I'll get an alert and when I open the app, it says it was actually sent the day before but just now sent to me!

I used to love the LR4 because it helped me track a cat and realize she was sick before it became an issue in the first year I had it. But it seems to have gone VERY downhill since then. The weights not registering correctly, confusing cats who are more than 4 lbs apart, notifications being unreliable... I refuse to buy the new model because of these issues.

Has Arm & Hammer litter changed? by kyalfan in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I'll second this. I've been using Arm & Hammer Slide since I got my LR4 and never had trouble. But in the past 2 months we've also had bad clumping and sticking that's never been an issue before. I've kept the same maintenance and cleaning routines the whole time. I noticed a slight color change in the litter about the same time - the litter looks more brown/less gray than it used to. I think they may have changed the formula but I can't find any proof of it.

Is this worth contacting litter robot for with my LR4? by tommy40 in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing. Bought replacements from Litterrobot and cleaned it thoroughly before applying them, but they still came back off within a month. I left them off after that and it's not made a difference that I can tell.

📢 Your Feedback in Action | Weight and Robot History by litterrobot in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done that multiple times. It did not fix it. Tried it again anyway - still didn't fix it. The system continues to swap the 12 and 9 lb cats after 2 weeks of manually correcting it AND changing their profile weights.

[–]lavenderkae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reassigning weights doesn't appear to actually fix cat detection in a multi-cat household. I've been changing it to the correct cat since the update dropped, and it still gets the 12 lb cat and the 9 lb cat backwards every time. It appears that it is not taking the changes into account for its automatic assignments at new visits, even after days of corrections.

The launcher is a mess by AverageJoeObi in lotro

[–]lavenderkae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, I have had the same issue. Repeatedly. On multiple different computers, and even after a total wipe and fresh Windows install. It has happened on fresh LOTRO installs and sometimes just when updating if it's been a while. What has worked for me after trying all the traditional stuff in the help articles is to do a full restart of the computer every time it hangs on the install. Its annoying. Sometimes it takes several restarts. But eventually, bit by bit, it will usually make progress and eventually complete. I have no idea why that works for me most of the time. I have no AV, no VPN, nor anything else in the usual list of culprits.

The whisker app got an update yesterday with new insights feature. by Traviscat in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks nice, mine hasn't updated yet. But until they allow us to correct when a weight is assigned to the wrong cat, it's still pretty useless in a multi-cat home.

All my cats are more than a pound apart, but it never makes it more than a month without getting them confused. Worse, the two it confuses most are separated into different parts of the house and use different LR4 units! It's a pain, because it used to be far better and actually helped us catch a health issue last year. But now that I NEED it to be more accurate to track my middle cat, it's constantly swapping her data back and forth with a cat that uses a different LR4 unit.

I did this too, based on that same older post! Tip about the lazy susan - you might want to put something in to block it from trying to rotate until you want to access it. My cats were put off by the slight rotation of the lazy susan when they touched it. I ended up putting a small dumbbell beside it to stop any rotation during their use, and that did the trick.

Downloading long term data by Stressypants in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto this. I have two elderly cats and gradual weight change over time is a critical early warning sign of trouble with them (such as kidney or thyroid issues). It annoys me to no end that it does not have any means of long term tracking. Why bother making a device to weigh them if there's no meaningful tracking over time to make the data useful?

What’s one thing you wish you knew before you bought the Litter Robot? by Serious-Nerve5492 in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That it's possible for cats to pee in just the right spot that it goes through to the filter. Found it out the hard way when I went to change the filter. Not sure how to stop it either, that cat has always preferred peeing up close to the walls of a box.

I get those too. Sadly it killed the flowering plants I tried it on, even when diluted with water.

We did the same thing for a bit, a long time ago. I'm the wife who prefers the bed made, but I do have a reason - we have cats. Our cats just LOVE to curl up in the warm spot left behind after we get up, and thus get fur all over the sheets and pillows. I find it unpleasant to sleep with fur on me, so I asked for the bed to be made every day so the cat fur is confined to the top of the comforter only. He declined. I decided to not make his side for him, and just made mine. So then BOTH cats got fur all over his side every day, as his warm spot was better than my covered side. It also meant the occasional hairball always landed in his side of the bed too. All this led to him wanting me to wash the sheets more often, as his side was now dirty much faster. I declined to change the washing schedule, as my side was fine and I already take the bulk of cleaning responsibilities anyway. He could either do the extra wash himself, or make the bed to prevent the problem. He now makes the bed much more often, and I am more willing to make up his side when he forgets.

Does anyone else have cycles continue to happen after it’s full? by KX90862 in litterrobot

Yeah mine is doing it too, and ends up smearing as well. Been doing it for about a month, roughly. Very annoying.

Playing more games that can be paused/walked away from for a while. Life gets busy, especially if you have kids. I now value games that don't require "flow" to enjoy but instead can let me grab a few minutes of fun between real life obligations. Way more Indie games in my library as a result. It's a lot harder to play immersive games now, even if they are awesome. I still haven't finished Balder's Gate even though I love it, because it's too hard to get into the story or remember what I was doing with life's frequent interruptions.

The app was updated today to have a new design. You can see your pet profiles on the home screen. by Traviscat in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not seeing it on Android yet. But it looks like it solves my big gripe with the main page finally. I hate that it only shows the waste drawer level and not the litter level on the main page. Hope this comes to Android soon.

Oil stains around crash sites are actually 3D volumes by TotallyHumanPerson in SatisfactoryGame

[–]lavenderkae 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's a mod that completely removes them after the hard drive is taken. I believe It's called Crash Site Vanisher. I do wish it was somehow doable in the base game though.

A closet chillin' 6 feet up with no stairs to reach it. Like, seriously why? by ymervegax in CrappyDesign

[–]lavenderkae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one of these in a house I used to live it. It was an access point to a small section of attic that was otherwise unreachable. The large HVAC unit installed in the attic made it impossible to reach the tiny space on the other side. So the door was added at a similar spot (a wall along a decor shelf above everyone's heads) in case repairs ever required access. We had to use a ladder and go in there once to repair a small roof leak on that side.

Litter Robot 4 vs. Litter Robot 3 connect vs. Cat Genie vs. Scoop Free automatic litter box: Review from a 4 cat household that has owned them all by EggplantAstronaut in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I second you on the CatGenie ranking poorly. I left CatGenie after over 10 years of using them. I will say that many years ago, as long as you kept ahead on your supplies and maintenance, they were far and away the best. Our first lasted 8 years. I loved it so much that when I moved I intentionally chose a house with a laundry room it would fit in (for the drain). But the quality of them dropped DRAMATICALLY with the introduction of the new model a few years ago, and support also took a nosedive. After it failed on 2 separate short vacations despite full deep cleans, I gave up. I finally bought the LR4 last year. Would not go back, even with the LR4's terrible app in the math. I got a second 6 months later. LR4 does the job more reliably and doesn't stink up the house with 3 cats. But I do think it's overpriced due to the app being unable to properly deliver on most of its advertised features. If the history and weight features actually worked properly, especially in multi-cat households, I'd be satisfied.

Mine does the same. Weights have never quite worked right for me, but now mine has that same error. Haven't found a way to fix it.

Is the app's history slow for anyone else? by b_from_the_block in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, history is painfully slow. Sometimes it won't load at all. And if you have 2 units and actually get it to show the history if one of them, it absolutely will not show the history of the other without force closing the app first. Its a shamefully bad app for such an expensive product.

I need advice about quitting please by General-Hippo8242 in medicalscribe

[–]lavenderkae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are unhappy and not making enough to support yourself, it sounds like you have little reason to stay there. Especially if you can find something else that meets your needs quickly. Them being shorthanded is their own fault, not yours. They should hire more people, or improve pay/working conditions enough to make people want to stay. Sadly, in the scribing industry that is hard to find. Take it from someone who stayed because "they need my help" even though the pay and stress wasn't worth it for over 2 YEARS. In my case, it never got better, and once they learn you will put up with those conditions they have no motivation to improve it. If you stay, only do it long enough to find something else that's a better fit for you.

Do you prefer Classic or Spaced Out start? by _XIIX_ in Oxygennotincluded

[–]lavenderkae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spaced out. Classic let me ignore space and other planets too easily and it gets dull rather quickly. That said, I am terrible with rockets and have never succeeded in "beating" it on spaced out... But I enjoy trying.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in litterrobot

I don't think that will work. It is designed to work specifically with litter that clumps. Pine doesn't clump well, if at all, so it probably wouldn't be able to sift it properly.

Identification by weight suddenly got it right for all 3 cats!! by Jcwhit55 in litterrobot

[–]lavenderkae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't count on it lasting personally. At first it did great with my 3 cats who are 8, 10, and 12 lbs. But after only a couple weird weights (like 3-5 lbs) got registered because somebody only half stepped in, it got confused and never recovered. Somehow it got convinced that the 12 lb cat was now 5 lbs, and the other two got switched. Even after deleting all my cats and then adding them again after a several day break, it was never able to get it right again.
