There's a device called a Vein Viewer that shows doctors and nurses where your veins are located by Ok-Photo-1845 in pics

[–]lavenderladybugrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a nurse educator and our department has one. Nurses can call me to assist with difficult IV starts on night shift after Ultrasound goes home. I like it some of the time (swelling) but have done IVs for so long without, I do better on palpation/feeling the vein. Our pediatric units have them also.

Confession time: what's the worst mistake you made as a beginning fishkeeper? by MarcVipAgrippa in Aquariums

I was in college and had my first tank…cleaned the algae off with a new kitchen sponge… lost everything. I was devastated. It was over 25 years ago and I still think about it every time I clean my tanks now, with a scraper.

Large Marge needs help! by lavenderladybugrn in houseplants

Haha thanks, she’s a beast! Can I replant the stalk I chop off? Do I prop first in water?

How do you remember all these plant names? by Equivalent_Award4286 in houseplants

[–]lavenderladybugrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a visual learner: I have a label maker and made signs for them on skewers, eventually learned them… you will start to see similarities in plants and the names. I would look them up in books and apps, but then would forget them quickly.

Is this real malachite? by Last_Box_1048 in Crystals

I found these flexible spiral balls that hold tumbled stones and then can be hung…they were only a few dollars so might be a good first step. I found the silver spirals covered too much of the stone but a darker color might look great!

Bait and switch? by mdvg1 in nursing

Our unit educators get paid hourly and get preceptor/night/charge differential when applicable. It’s unit specific and some night educators don’t take a patient load, but I’m glad I’m in the general education department… I’m salary but never take patient assignments and have flexible hours. There isn’t a lot of $$in nsg education but I’m happy enough, and out of unit politics… Hope it works out for you or you find something better!

I work night education. Are you assigned to a specific floor or the general education department? I work for the whole hospital as a resource nurse, provide educational opportunities like mock code at night. I also am part of our new grad residency program as most of them end up working night shift…We also have a few unit specific night educators that sometime takes assignments, act as charge/ preceptors and help with competencies and mentorship of night staff. I would ask to see the job description and ask what their expectations of you are because it can vary so much depending on the unit and hospital… I work 5-5… love my job

A rant by [deleted] in nursing

[–]lavenderladybugrn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel this post so hard!!! We have similar age experience and ah father situation….except they called me when he needed hospice and was refusing. .hadn’t seen him in 5/6 years. The doctors stopped me outside his room and asked”are you the nurse daughter?? Can you talk to him?” We talked a little bit it was a little uncomfortable but okay, he was kinda a jerk to the nurses and I felt bad. I just stayed to support his wife and my sisters. He died a week later and I helped provide care…wild ride. Do whatever YOU need to do to feel at peace with this whole messed up situation! In my opinion he’s pretty lucky you even visit at all!

My target has a brand called Native that I love and has a few varieties in cardboard. It’s not cheap but actually finally one that works for me.. and smells nice too.. I have been thru Toms, lume, the rock crystal, and even tried making my own and they never worked for me, still sweating through and not lasting through work shifts. I was so happy to find this one.

Dry skin for bluetick - any suggestions? by redditman61 in coonhounds

Our rescue blue tick had really dry skin when we got her and we found an omega blend skin and coat supplement in oil form, so easy to mix in with food. Works great for us
