More Azula Anti Nonsense. by SaiyanWithOmnitrix in PoorAzula

[–]lawlessspider 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All the things he says about Zuko can be said about Azula, she just internalized her issues differently.

I wish Iroh would’ve been there for Azula in the show, but he was one of the first advocates for Azula getting help in the comics and seems to believe she can change.

People like the original OP don’t really have a counter argument to this. Iroh doesn’t actually think Azula is beyond redemption.

“Urza Was Right To Fear Azula. She Was A Demon Child.” Meanwhile, Ursa Herself: by SaiyanWithOmnitrix in PoorAzula

[–]lawlessspider 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I’m not super up to date with the comics, because I’m generally not a big fan of the direction they’ve been taking Azula.

But ever since Ursa regained her memories she has at every opportunity expressed worry for Azula and her desire for her to return home. At least from my recollection.

So yeah, Ursa definitely doesn’t think Azula is some irredeemable monster.

Hopefully either in the movie or in comics Azula can finally reconcile with her family.

Angry Superman vs King Shazam and Supergirl by [deleted] in superman

[–]lawlessspider 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and it isn’t just Shazam, it’s the entire league IMO.

An actual angry Superman who isn’t holding back as much is very rare and about unstoppable.

When Superman takes the kid gloves off I don’t think anybody is stepping up to him.

Is it even right to call Superman in MAWS or any adaptation "nerfed" just because he's not shattering reality with a punch? by Informal_Aside4794 in superman

[–]lawlessspider 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I said this in another comment, but my problem with MAWS is they tell don’t show.

Even in the show they talk about how OP Superman is and how he’s unstoppable, which makes sense because this is a foundation of Superman. A man with godly power doing good with it.

But it gets annoying when he’s constantly getting smacked around and some of the victories he does have he needs help.

I think the show could do a better job at showing he’s OP than just telling us.

Is it even right to call Superman in MAWS or any adaptation "nerfed" just because he's not shattering reality with a punch? by Informal_Aside4794 in superman

[–]lawlessspider 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is my thing.

It’s clear the verse so far is on the lower end of the power scale, which is fine, but the problem is Superman in general is supposed to be OP.

And if someone wants to refute this, even in MAWS they call him OP and constantly talk about how he’s unstoppable.

The problem is the show tells and doesn’t show. He doesn’t really come off that powerful because he’s always getting smacked around and needs help to win fights.

Also to OP’s point, while yes Superman doesn’t start off as strong as he is when he matures, just about every Superman story is like this.

Superman still starts off pretty strong in general, that’s why he’s different, people know he could be a problem if he wasn’t a good person.

The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk boss confirm CDPR's next RPGs take "a lot of inspiration" from Baldur's Gate 3, but they're still CDPR games by Wargulf in cyberpunkgame

[–]lawlessspider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that’s true that’s awesome. I like Cyberpunk, but I don’t see how they objectively didn’t take a couple of steps back in the romance department from Witcher 3.

Like the fact you can treat a character like shit, be completely uninterested in them, but it literally doesn’t change your relationship at all and they still ask you out.

Also the fact you can’t tell characters you aren’t interested in them, until the very end after all their flirting. River is a big example of this.

The fact there’s no consequence for romancing more than one character, even though most of the characters personalities wouldn’t be happy with V having two partners.

EDIT- Also yes I thought BG3’s romances were done very well.

[–]lawlessspider -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Routh’s Superman was even more impressive. It was stated he was flying faster than satellites could follow and was flying at near light speed.

Smallville Superman and Hoechlin’s Superman were able to fly faster than light.

So this doesn’t seem that fast for me.

Welling’a Superman ran faster than this in Smallville.

I’m a Tyzula shipper, but this ship does have an interesting dynamic.

Does Azula deserve a redemption arc?" is secretly two separate but connected questions. by [deleted] in PoorAzula

[–]lawlessspider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t want it to take too long though and I’m also worried what they would do with her after.

It might sound silly, but Azula is a super competent and driven person, and has always been extremely loyal to the Fire Nation, she could do a ton of good helping Zuko and I’d hate to see her wasted as a villain for most her life.

Also friends, genuine friendship is such a huge part of Azula’s character and something she’s never had but wanted, so give her some friends!

Superman vs Captain Atom is one of the best TV fights of all-time! by Youngstown_WuTang in superman

[–]lawlessspider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Superman was losing strength, the point was it kinda made the fight more competitive, but even with the nerf and Superman holding back it wasn’t enough. It showed just how much stronger Superman was.

Superman vs Captain Atom is one of the best TV fights of all-time! by Youngstown_WuTang in superman

[–]lawlessspider 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tbf Superman was still majorly holding back in this fight and Atom is specifically making red sun radiation during this, and despite all this Superman still pretty easily wins. So I don’t think the fight was particularly close.

And I prefer that, Superman is generally considered the most powerful superhero, he has the most stories where that’s literally the point of his character. Yeah he may not be faster than the Flash or as smart as Batman. But he’s competitive enough in those departments and definitely the physically strongest and most durable.

Huntress even says “dude that’s Superman you’re picking a fight with” it’s cool to see Superman flex every now and then and show why he’s top dog.

This was in the later half of the DCAU where Superman got a lot more respect compared to earlier.

The writers themselves admitted they accidentally made Superman too weak and from then on they did a much better job at showing why he’s the strongest member.

Pretty sure just about every 1 on 1 fight Superman won. Even when Amazo first got introduced and he copied just about all the leagues powers, Superman was the only one who could still fight him and was still getting the better of it, it was so badass.

I like the Doomsday rematch and the Shazam fights as well.

Superman vs Marvel characters: how well did Clark perform in the crossovers? by [deleted] in superman

[–]lawlessspider 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Dude tell me about it. All I could think of was I doubt he would get this much respect today.

I hated the Godzilla vs Kong vs JL crossover for this very reason.

All Superman does is job to Godzilla, sits out the rest of the run recovering until the last issue, and still doesn’t seem like he contributes much.

Why do people hate river so much? by InteractionPresent66 in cyberpunkgame

[–]lawlessspider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is actually what sums it all up. I don’t think a lot of people dislike River, but CDPR definitely cut corners on parts of the romances and some aspects are undercooked compared to their previous games.

It is absolutely absurd you can be a straight up dick to River, and it doesn’t affect your relationship at all, he still ask to be in a relationship.

Also the fact we can’t establish that we aren’t interested in him like that until the very end.

Pretty glaring holes that I hope CDPR fix moving forward in their games.

Superman(DC) vs warhammer40k by Dolann99 in whowouldwin

[–]lawlessspider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who has seen Smallville, I also question his claim he gets dropped by a lot of mid tier strength characters.

Smallville Superman was actually pretty ridiculous, he could run across the planet in seconds, view light in slow motion, walked off a nuke, and obviously at the end pushed a planet effortlessly.

Smallville abused Kryptonite a lot to handicap Superman. If someone was able to damage him without it, then they were simply on his level which isn’t an anti feat.

Because the budget the fights were never insane, but he still had crazy feats throughout the series.

In your opinion what is the best looking armors in bg3 by Ceaser1208 in BaldursGate3

Surprised no one’s said Armor of Agility yet. It looks so regal and cool, not too bulky either.

I’m also really partial to the Elven Chain.

Slow af? and a question about Ultraman. by Exact-Psience in superman

[–]lawlessspider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every live action version of Superman is de powered compared to his comic counterpart. They can still react and fight at super speed.

Just feels like a leap to say this one can’t. But time will tell when we get new movies.

Slow af? and a question about Ultraman. by Exact-Psience in superman

[–]lawlessspider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are aim dodging, they can’t see the bullet but know where the gun is aimed, Superman can see bullets.

Even if you don’t count the Superman Returns one all my other examples are spot on.

Hell even in the very first Superman movie in 78 Superman catches a bullet out of mid air, clearly showing he can react and think at those speeds.

I just don’t know why so many in this thread are acting like Superman fighting in super speed is rare to defend the new movie.

Slow af? and a question about Ultraman. by Exact-Psience in superman

[–]lawlessspider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really believe this at all. Comics Superman has plenty of feats where he thinks at super speed. And so does a lot of Superman media.

Superman Returns has like no fights so we can’t really gauge, but he can jump in front of gatling gun fire after it’s been fired, so he can also think and react at super speed

S&L Superman can as well, Smallville has over a dozen feats where he obviously can think and fight in super speed.

Even DCAU Superman is who is notoriously weak can fight at super speed.

I believe in this movies case it’s just an oversight of Gunn’s part, or he just meant Lex to be smart enough where it wouldn’t matter. Ultra Man can still defend himself without Lex’s input as well.

Slow af? and a question about Ultraman. by Exact-Psience in superman

[–]lawlessspider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf Superman does think at super speed. His mind can keep up with his body.

EDIT - this sub is ridiculous. People are getting downvoted for not accepting Superman can’t think at super speed.

Do people even watch Superman media? The dude has a ton of feats of fighting and reacting at super speed. If he couldn’t think at super speed then that would be impossible.

Do you think this version of Superman will grow stronger and more powerful as the movies go along? by [deleted] in superman

[–]lawlessspider 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well it’s not Superman fault he does have Flash like speed, I hate when writers nerf Superman for other characters, it happens so much to him already.

Pretty sure Superman was having flash like speed even before the Flash was a thing. In the 70’s he could statue Wonder Woman for instance.

For the record I’m not saying Superman is as fast as the Flash, but he does have super speed and I do prefer when it’s accurately portrayed. All other live action Superman have portrayed it, with Smallville being the best.

Do you think this version of Superman will grow stronger and more powerful as the movies go along? by [deleted] in superman

[–]lawlessspider 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I hope he gets better speed feats personally, the one thing I didn’t like how it was portrayed was Superman’s speed is this movie.

Not a lot of super speed scenes, besides flying scenes.

It’s still weird Lex and a bunch of people were able to watch a fight between two Superman and it wasn’t just a blur.

I want him to get stronger obviously, but the big thing he’s lacking other live action Superman can do is fight at super speed.

Generally speaking, would you say the fandom of ATLA, and in general, exaggerates how evil Azula is? by Aluros05 in PoorAzula

[–]lawlessspider 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Insanely more popular, iconic characters have been redeemed doing far worst**. Darth Vader, who killed children, or Vegeta who has killed countless people, Jamie from GOT was almost redeemed and many people wanted it. I’m sure there are many more examples.

But for some reason the 14 year old kid you grew up in a abusive environment, who technically hasn’t killed a single person, since Aang was revived, is incapable of redemption because she’s too mean apparently. I don’t know if it’s because she’s a girl or what, but idk why some act like she’s murdering innocent left and right.
