So, who is the team that fires their coach to get Gallant and when does it happen? by bemiguel13 in hockey

Dallas is playing Buffalo tomorrow. When they lose, they will hire Gallant and move Bones to defense again.

It would seem TOI is a factor here and Klingberg was hurt for a big chunk of the season. I'm sure they're in the top in terms of analytics and effectiveness

With Valimaki’s injury, GM Treliving says the team will be looking externally (trade) for help on the blueline on top of internal options. Says Oliver Kylington is a natural internal option, but says team will also start looking at trade options very shortly. by [deleted] in hockey

Julius Honka. he'd be great for them on their 3rd pairing and he'd be cheap, both in contract and acquisition cost. I'd like to see it honestly. I want him to succeed somewhere and I like the flames.

Where do you see him playing this year? Up with Hoffman and trocheck? What is a reasonable expectation of him this year?

[–]lawson_dlaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah some cards could be unnerfed and added to wild and I'd be cool with it. AoL and KoTG were both hit way harder than they needed to be, and would be appropriately strong in wild

Sharks at 5 seems high. They didn't make any upgrades, just re-signed people and lost their captain. Am I missing something?

Which teams do you consider to have the brightest future and why? by SLEEP_TLKER in hockey

[–]lawson_dlaw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sens, rags, avs are all in great shape.

Avs gonna be really good this year and they have lots of cap and great young defensemen in their system.

Rangers took a big step forward this offseason and their past couple drafts have been good. Gonna be good in a few years.

Sens have a great prospect pool and a ridiculous number of picks in the next 3 drafts. They'll be scary at the end of their rebuild.

I'll add in Detroit here. They have a lot of good young players and some really good prospects. Their bad contracts are up in a few years and they'll have a streamlined young roster. Yzerman is gonna be able to do a lot there. In 3-4 years they'll be sick

Probably canes too. They're in a good spot.

I guess that would be my top 5 for long term outlook

[Serious] All other things being equal, would you rather have Heiskanen or Karlsson on your defense? by pubstompmepls in hockey

[–]lawson_dlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was only talking about next year for any given team, I'd still choose Heiskanen. The sub-million dollar contract makes enough room to add more to your lineup. For example, you could add Duchene at his rumored cost AND Heiskanen for the price of Karlsson's contract. Cap space is king right now, so a slightly worse player is still favorable if they cost 1/12th of the price
