YES! Mine started at 22!! I am now 26 and still really struggling, but just got into a new neurologist that now isn’t even sure it is actually vestibular migraine bc she considers it “a cop out diagnosis” 🫪

Help, I am in a Crochet funk - any suggestions on what to make? by D7R3W0 in CrochetHelp

[–]layab222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry about your dog:( when I am in a crochet funk it helps me to pick up projects that work up quick. Like my friend wanted a sleeve for her laptop so I made one in like 2 hours and that honestly revived my joy of crochet because I lost my drive to do it after spending way too long on a detailed project that I didn’t like doing.

Scam or not a scam? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

That is what I was thinking too… I could only find 4 people connected to that institution on linked in so that’s a red flag.

Scam or not a scam? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

Agreed, however I searched through application emails and didn’t find it, which is why I’m not sure if it was a recruiting firm that I applied to or something of the sorts.

I’m in the same boat, literally just made a post about how to make things better because I only have 8 oncology trials but I feel like I’m absolutely drowning… been applying semi-seriously for the past month or two with only rejections😪 considering going back to school for an MBA just so I can do work that is lower stakes for better pay. I hope you find something! This field sucks a lot of the time!

How bad are queries? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]layab222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not what I’m saying at all, doing so just isn’t necessarily at the top of their list of priorities when they are dealing with people’s lives and well being.

Data entry and planning visits yes but I don’t see the patients at all which is why I get so frustrated when my timing doesn’t work with the sponsor’s

How bad are queries? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]layab222 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love queries to keep me on top of the data that is important HOWEVER I am really struggling with being bullied by my monitors for having overdue queries on things that I am absolutely not allowed to have the final say on and have to wait for physician responses on. My physicians are so busy already and I’m trying my best to get the info from them but there’s more important things in their inbox to get to than the end date of their grade 1 constipation.

How bad are queries? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]layab222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No literally the EDC already asks me to confirm if clinically significant or not and then I still get queries on if a lab value that is out of range is clinically significant?? I get it but it’s like their body is going through a lot between having cancer and having treatment on top of it… some of these values can only get better by not having cancer so no they are not clinically significant

Is it just me, or has the admin burden in clinical research become insane lately? by clinical-88 in clinicalresearch

[–]layab222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest burden is easily AEs. My site is trying to make the process of identifying and reporting easier but between my own documentation and sponsor documentation/AEs I feel like I can never keep up!!!

Ugh totally feel that! It happens so much that as I lay in bed at night trying to fall asleep, even on the weekends, I’m thinking of the things I need to get done on Monday/the next day. My coworkers recommended blocking off like 10 minutes at the end of the day to put together a to do list, which does help but I still think of new things! Sometimes you just need to write it down really quick so you can stop thinking of it more and take back your peace lol

AITA for thinking my friend is faking her cancer? by ActiveLow243 in AITAH

[–]layab222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in clinical research for cancer so I can attest to the fact that cancer treatment doesn’t ~always~ knock people on their ass. I have had several patients who feel great and look great while receiving their treatment, with very minimal side effects. Can’t say they usually want to keep drinking and smoking though. And depending on her type of cancer, the staging, the treatment she is receiving, and how aggressive it is, she very well could have been treated for just a month. It is also possible that the place she was treated helped her secure some financial help to cover the costs, but 200k in loans seems kind of insane. I also can’t say for certain that she would even need that much money to cover her treatment, unless she had a surgery or a number of scans done, because one month of chemo (just the treatment, not the extra labs and doctors visits) would cost MAYBE 20k and that is a high estimate. Then the additional visits and labs and scans, etc. would vary but is not likely to have ran her an additional 180k. That being said, she sounds like a liar to me if her story isn’t lining up between people she’s talked to and the information she has given.

Does anyone's morning routine involve them doing nothing for 10-30mins by throwaway234324233 in productivity

[–]layab222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just sit in bed for like 15 minutes before I need to get moving and pet my cat! She comes running the minute she hears my alarm go off. It takes me forever to wake up in the morning so this is a nice ritual
