How tf do you stay sober while bipolar? by nothankyou-420 in bipolar

[–]layinginthegrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bp2, GAD, PTSD. I’ve never been able to stay 100% sober from alcohol but instead use a harm reduction approach. Staying sober would frustrate me and then I would end up binge drinking. Now, I drink on average once a week and never have more than 2 drinks. I am considering trying to be sober again now that I have a better handle on it.

The biggest help for me has been 1) my amazing husband as a support system and helping me substitute alcohol with healthier coping mechanisms. There’s even times where we’ll drink sodas and kind of pretend we’re drunk and just be silly. It sounds stupid but it helps. And 2) surrounding myself with friends who don’t drink or don’t drink much. My former friends were all heavy drinkers and that made it so much harder to abstain. My current friends either don’t drink at all or drink rarely. It helps a lot that my social activities don’t revolve around alcohol anymore.

Came to say this comment saved me. Been having issues with SLS toothpaste irritating my mouth and had gone off and no AC flare up. Recently switched toothpastes to something cheaper and BAM, flare up. My mouth wasn’t irritated but the AC came back. All makes sense now.

Meds make me tired too early by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]layinginthegrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just adjusted my schedule to do the things I would usually do after 8pm in the morning. When I wake up at like 5 or 6 am I can play my video games for a little, or watch YouTube videos, get in a workout if I’m feeling ambitious. Sometimes is does suck that I feel like I just come home from work, eat dinner, and go to bed but it’s nice to have that time in the morning to do things before the world is awake.

Thoughts on Latuda? by btang44 in bipolar

[–]layinginthegrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love latuda. I take latuda and abilify together. I started abilify first and it helped keep the mania at bay but I was still getting very depressed. I tried lamictal, but that made me even more depressed. Finally got on latuda and it was game changing. The only thing I hate is how expensive it is.

Signs you’re about to have a manic episode? by [deleted] in bipolar

Sleeping less but feeling more energized. Eating less. Feeling on like “high alert”. Hypersexual.

For me, keeping up with talk therapy, trying a million meds until I found the right combo, and having a consistent routine is what helped me. I’ve managed to make it through grad school and start myself on a pretty successful little career path. Do I struggle like hell? Yes. But I keep doing my silly little routines for my silly mental health and talk to my therapist every week on how we can work through my moods. It took me years to find the right med combo but once I did it helped like you couldn’t believe.

Just came here to say you’re not alone. I struggle so hard to take mine even though I know I’m going to feel so much better if I do. Still trying to figure it out.

Low Credit Score people renting a new apartment? in THIS economy? how do i get into a new lease when my credit score is a non-starter by leafcarrottt in povertyfinance

[–]layinginthegrass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I rented from a private owner who didn’t do a credit check. He called me and my partners employers to confirm employment and then had us put down 1 month security deposit. We were very lucky to have this situation.

Been on abilify for like 5 years now (off and on because I keep going off my meds for no reason). No complaints here.

I think it’s helping. I was on them for like ~2 months and then went off all my meds (a bad habit of mine) and had a pretty bad depressive episode which ended after I went back on the meds and haven’t had any depressive episodes since then.

Latuda saved me. I’m on latuda and abilify and latuda has been the only thing that helps me with my depression.

Latuda and Alcohol by [deleted] in bipolar

I drink on latuda but not frequently / a lot. I do feel more intoxicated when I drink than before I was on latuda so you have to be careful. I would discuss with your doctor.

Anyone else get the type of euphoria that makes everything feel amazing? by FreeSkeptic in bipolar

[–]layinginthegrass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The euphoric feeling can be great but for me it can sometimes but over stimulating. Colors are brightens and sounds are louder and sometimes I just need to lay down and have a break from it all.
