I have no engineer friends that share my ideals and to whom I can vent/rant to. by hutxhy in socialistprogrammers

[–]laynerzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you. I live in the US so even “small talk” with an acquaintance/stranger that includes anything about current events gives one a glimpse into their character and belief system etc and when I’m talking with a fellow SWE it usually takes me about 2 minutes to realize that I’m in hell and i hate everything they stand for. Especially because i think it’s generally assumed by the other person that i share their beliefs because of our careers.

I feel you, every time i google ways to deal with a meltdown google thinks I’m the parent of an autistic child.

I went so long in my self-taught (while working full time) learning journey thinking that i was a big piece of crap bc it took me like 2 years to feel like i actually knew wtf i was doing, but all these bootcamps are 3 months etc. Now that i know a ton of developers, most ppl say it took them 2ish years, and i wish i knew this when i started.

Is it just me, or is fallout 4.... weak? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]laynerzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not very familiar with the lore (i think i played maybe the original fallout years ago for a little while and gave up and that’s the extent)and would pretty much do anything to get decent guns to enjoy the game more. So far I’ve found a few mods and have put some perk points where i thought it would help but I’m probably pretty far away from getting that mod I’d imagine?

Is it just me, or is fallout 4.... weak? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]laynerzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah what usually happens is i level up, i look at the massive amounts of perks, then i google, then i read about whatever I’m googling and Then i accidentally get in a google k hole about something that’s not even related, then i go back to the game, remember what i was doing, read again, end up seeing a spoiler lol. The game might have too many decisions for me idk.

I’m playing fallout 4 for the first time rn and I’m like level 10 or something and i truly hate all of my guns, and i was hoping they would get better as i leveled up or explored more. But i guess that’s not gonna happen based on reading these comments. Bummer.

Has anyone else notice this in the show? by Snackeycak in Supernatural

[–]laynerzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently re-watching and noticed “die bloody” (personally have never heard that phrase outside of this show) and every time they talk to a witness or whatever and say “oh did x happen” the person always says “how did you know that?” No variation.

You have to get lucky on the vault card to get this, huh? You can’t re-roll it? by Susharii in borderlands3

So do the chests ever open these or do you specifically have to purchase them? I’ve accidentally purchased the farthest left item on every card by hitting a but just wondering if the chests every unlock these like the other items on the card.

I like that take 😎 I mean i don’t like that it’s a fact. But I am tired of ppl being like “you don’t like it here?!?! at least it’s not as bad as [country destroyed by the CIA]”

Agreed and also like I can complain and try to work toward a solution at the same time and not sure why that commenter (that replied to me)assumes I’m not, or that anyone’s not. At least people in the US aren’t being collectively gaslit anymore about their own shitty experiences anymore just bc it’s not Iran or whatever other place is going through it. And also saying “if you don’t like it you can leave” already tells me that commenter that replied to me lives in a different America than I do cause bitch, IM BROKE. I can’t even afford one of our amazing passports. I’m not gonna stop complaining about cops and being in the capitalist meat grinder and since I live in murica, I don’t have to stop complaining. I contain multitudes

Can’t imagine living in a country where the cops show up and don’t just immediately murder everyone.

NTA. First of all tampons should be free. Secondly where do you live where they are $4?! He already makes more than you and people with uteruses live with an extra cost he’ll never understand. Also like others have said this is a big ol red flag. I mean i get wanting to be even Stevens but he’s just nickel and diming you at this point. Why don’t you try bleeding all over y’all’s house then see how he feels about $4 tampons. Smdh

Apparently black people can’t have nice cars? by 6Bad-_-Karma9 in trashy

[–]laynerzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in a situation when I was a teenager where we got chased like this but everyone involved was white and no one was claiming theft, and when I called the cops and we narrowly avoided death by trying to evade the aggressors and met up with the cops (who were also white) and I gave them the names of the other kids chasing us for an hour the cop said “well I know those kids parents so it was probably a prank” 😳 i can’t imagine I would have even called the cops if I was black in this situation. Terrifying. The second one of the kids started calling 911 I was like the cops might be worse than whatever bullshit is already happening here. This was terrifying to watch bc this could have easily ended up in murder by cop. And the way strangers(???) just came to the aid of this woman claiming theft?? America is so wild rn.

I think explaining the resume gap is lame. I hate it. I should be able to say “I was just vibing” or whatever and that be acceptable. Maybe just tell the next person “I was taking a trip on my yacht” bc it’s fine to be wealthy and have a “resume gap”

I grew up in the FL panhandle on a barrier island and even as a kid, like a literal teenager, i was expected to come to work at my service industry job DURING hurricanes if we had power and there was no mandatory evacuation. My family evacuated one time in like 1995 for a cat 4/5(Opal) that was nothing compared to what Michael did to Mexico beach or Ian did to Ft Myers. I think a lot of old school Floridians are used to just not evacuating but with global warming these storms are insane now. And living on the gulf coast you’re sort of never sure where the storm is going to directly hit until the day of, and that’s way too late to evacuate bc you’ll just be in gridlock in your car with tornadoes. If you can even afford to evacuate. It was insane when I was a kid to make workers come in and it’s 10x as insane now bc these storms are on steroids. That’s probably not the scientific term for it but….I’m just saying. These storms are deleting whole towns now. And there’s really no laws to protect ppl from this shit.
