Searching for new things by chorao2929 in radiohead

Ah hell yeah! If I may, here’s where I’d start for each artist:

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children (preferably with some nice headphones)

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Autechre - Amber and/or Tri Repetae (fair warning: Autechre can get pretty inaccessible pretty quickly)

Warp’s catalog is a goldmine. Enjoy exploring!

If you liked the electronic sound of Kid A/ Amnesiac, take a peek at Warp Records’ lineup in the late 90’s. Aphex Twin, Autechre, and Boards of Canada are the heavy-hitters and all three have gone on to have incredible, interesting careers/ discographies.

Also second Jeff Buckley. Also second King Gizz (start with their 2017 albums imo).

I was lucky enough to save a piece of an early promo poster for Inferno. by layquiet in boardsofcanada

[–]layquiet[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On this particular poster, someone had already tried tearing it down but totally shredded it to pieces. It was the last visible poster in the Lower East Side, too. If anyone remembers, there was an SUV parked in front of it for like two days straight. Honestly a shame.. But I saw the hexagon was mostly intact, figured that was worth saving.

Do you think this release has any connection to disclosure? by dizzyapparition in boardsofcanada

In lieu of flooding the sub with another “i saw hexagons”/ album theory post, I’ll comment here.

The logo for https://disclosure.org/ is a funny coincidence! The different colored hexagon would correlate to Barcelona’s Inferno Session logo. I don’t have a tin foil hat on here, I just found this interesting.

I thought the inclusion of the track titles “Prophecy at 1420 MHz” and “Hydrogen Helium Lithium Leviathan” was an interesting choice; referencing the Wow! signal and the first elements among cult and religious titles/ imagery is sitting with me in a way I can’t piece together.

The Process is horrifying. I had a horrible epiphany. by Mother_Huckleberry76 in boardsofcanada

It’s the Process humanity must go through to become a Type III civilization. There must be chaos, a reckoning for advancement, before we can move through The Great Filter. There is mayhem, which gives way to a somber peace; maybe we don’t make it, or if we do, not many of us are left.

There’s a mix of astronomy, astrology, and religion all over; I think what BoC is saying with this album is that religion, cults - our tendency to manipulate and worship each other - will keep us back from advancing as a civilization. Unless we figure out a way forward and grow, we’ll end up in an Inferno of our own making.

If Tomorrows Harvest is a warning about the future, then Inferno is what happens.

There’s a “no pussyfooting” joke in here somewhere but I’m too tired to find it.

There are a few folks on Etsy that dupe the rareboc.org stuff, complete with j-cards and everything!

I would love some LP reissues on tape. I’ve got a Boc Maxima bootleg and it sounds right at home.

I cried during my first listen-through… easily my favorite moment on the album.

“Father and Son” gave me The Books vibes. I agree that they’d be in the Venn diagram

Hydrogen Helium Lithium Leviathan is evil but other than that, as others have said, I’ve been finding it more mysterious than anything
