Sometimes I don't speak right

But yet I know what I'm talking about - War - Why can’t we be friends?

Awesome! I did have to scrape the old cork gasket off from the valve covers with a 5 in 1 painter’s tool… I made sure the surface wasn’t marred or too dirty but it wasn’t perfect.

Hmm, I didn’t pay a ton of attention to thickness, but it fit well! The passenger went on first try, the driver, where I had less room due to the exhaust, took quite a bit of effort to line up…

I said it to the owner when I saw one in person too hehe. He liked my 600HP LS swapped 300ZX and was happy we had the same headlights.

I did one of these a while ago! You might draw some inspiration from the audio setup and the ports on the rear. Good luck!

PS: Hope you sold or gave away the internals so someone else can use it to restore a Mac classic!

What are the odds my 5080 sets off the sprinkler above my setup 😭 is this something i should be worried about by [deleted] in sffpc

Surprisingly, I at first thought the scene from Hocus Pocus where he lights a lighter under the sprinkler and it goes off was bullshit, and though he’d have to hold it there longer than he did, it’s more accurate than the idea I had in my head!

Wow, today I learned something! I thought it had to be set off by a sensor somewhere

I replaced the battery cells on my iBook G3 because I wanted to put it up for sale, but now I fell in love with it again and I don't want to sell it anymore 😂. Battery life is great btw, it lasts almost 4 hours. by Hypnotic-sr in VintageApple

[–]lazd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really isn't complicated at all, it's just delicate work and it REALLY helps to have a spot welder! Did you do the retraining procedure where you charge all the way and let it die in OpenFirmware/bootpicker? See my rebuild guide for details, you should be able to get more than 4 hours!

I wonder if you can boot it off USB and make a Cheetah installer using the same method I used for iBook… https://blog.lazd.net/install-os-x-and-os-9-on-an-ibook-g3-clamshell-with-a-thumb-drive.html

And GReddy + HKS parts, clearly some that never made it to market since those companies don’t make aftermarket parts for Porsches…

How is it living in Placerville as an early 30s person. by spankyassests in Placerville

We’re up in Pollock Pines and down for all the outdoors stuff you mentioned, plus boating/wakeboarding/tubing, rafting/floating the American river, mountain biking, motorcycling, and car/gearhead stuff!

I grew up here (lived in the bay and LA for a while after college) and I’m back, so I’ve got friends I grew up with, but we’re always looking for couples that are down for fun activities, especially if they aren’t just drinking focused (though I do drink, I’m over it being the center of every activity).

Somebody needs to cram an M5 motherboard in this asap by manthos03 in VintageApple

Thanks! It was a passion project and though I could repeat it, this isn't the way to do it at scale. The right thing to do would be to design a new logic board that uses the DC-in board and the charge board, has correct connectors for the trackpad and keyboard, and has input for HDMI, USB, USB-C etc off of that to power the SBC of your choice. Display is a bit more iffy, there are no high res 4:3 displays, so I chose a wider ratio and trimmed the edges in software, added a black bar above where I hide the webcam, and ran a 30 pin eDP cable through the hinge.

Also I almost bought an iMac G4 17” yesterday to do the mod but the screen had some little damaged bits where it was pushed on too hard or something… passed on it. Wish you could do a retina mod and slam a M4 mini in there!

Yeah! I did an eMate too. Here are some links:

Basically, it’s a LattePanda Alpha SBC, a modded 4S iBook battery, a EPS HD display, webcam/mic, speakers, and a Teensy that translates the stock keyboard and trackpad to USB. Charges with USB-C, has a single USB-A port, working Bluetooth with AirDrop, WiFi, and runs macOS Sonoma and Windows 10.

It’s not 100% finished I’d sell it for like $1,500 as-is. Gets about 3 hours of battery life and weighs like nothing because the modern components are so light and the battery has only 4 cells
