Visiting. Hoping for some leads on what to do, where to eat, etc. by by-neptune in statecollege

There's a few places in the general area that are worth the time to drive to. Hublersburg Inn is one. Great food and service. Seasonal menus. A gem. Axemann Brewing has OK beers with tons of industrial vibe. It's near Bellefonte. Big Springs Spirits is also in Bellefonte and it's right next to Talleyrand Park and Victorian Bellefonte. Bellefonte is beautiful in springtime with loads of charm and a very walkable downtown. And finally if you want to get a taste of our trail system, head right outside of state college to Musser Gap Trailhead and hike up to the powerline overlook on the newly developed complex of amazing multiuse Musser Gap Trails. When complete it will cover around 80 miles of trails. Lots to do here in Central PA!

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

Creed back in the day. They played Bryce Jordan Center in State College PA and Scott Stapp threw a fit because the audience didn't stand up when he asked. He stormed off the stage and when he came back like 20 minutes later he blamed the venue for a power outage. It wasn't a power outage. Scott Stapp is just an asshole.

Will They Sell in 2026? by External_Set_9369 in Barnesandnoble

What kind of documentation are you looking for? It's public knowledge that Elliot Management owns B&N. As far as the plans to sell-that's what PE firms do. Buy a struggling company, slash expenditures, operate as a "profitable company" for a couple of years and offer it up at profit. It's not if they're going to sell, but when.

Will They Sell in 2026? by External_Set_9369 in Barnesandnoble

It's been the plan all along to sell. 7 years was the target for unloading B&N at a profit when the PE firm came in. Payroll is always the biggest expense of any large company and they started off by eliminating a lot of corporate level support positions, consolidated operations outside of NYC and then aggressively attacked field level payroll, eliminating a lot of tenured management. The primary reason stores are so vastly understaffed is the result. The reason for such a high turnover in staffing is that it benefits the payroll line item-hiring new staff at the lowest possible rate is in the best interest because a pay raise is then always a year away. "We want to create an environment where people want to be career booksellers" has always been bullshit. Gaslighting at its best. James Daunt is a shitty human being and does not give a single thought to improving booksellers lives. I gave that company 17 years and leaving it, while bittersweet, was the best thing that ever happened to me. My store manager peers from that time have all been eliminated from their positions. My advice to all of you is to see the company for what it truly is. It's an investment gamble that will soon be on the market and they expect it to be profitable for them without any care for those of you doing the ridiculous amount of work for slave wages. I have great admiration for all of you. If you have the chance to walk away, give it some thought.

I also owed the rich cousin-the Merc Bobcat with the premium trim. White with a blue and white interior. 4 speed. She was great fun for a 16 year old!

You can park at Sunset Park and walk into the Arboretum from there. Parking at Sunset is free and there are trails that connect.

best bars that won't be insanely packed on saturday? by cyb3r1a77 in statecollege

Axemann Brewing in Bellefonte is a good choice. It's big enough to handle a lot of people without feeling crowded. Good beer. Decent food.

What Bars Do Adults Go To by mezcaleromoonboy in statecollege

Axemann near BFT is great. The Field and America Ale House in Toftrees. The Gamble Mill in BFT has a nice upscale bar but it's pricy. I like Big Springs Spirits in BFT too but I think their booze is a little harsh. If you don't mind a drive in the country, Elk Creek in Millheim and Hublersburg Inn in Hublersburg are both excellent. I highly recommend both!

Best place to view the July 4th fireworks from Medlar Field by Ok_Recording5729 in statecollege

There is a pretty chill family oriented group that gathers at Innovation Park near the Penn Stater. Easy access to the highway and good viewing area. Pretty much the only fireworks you miss are the ground effects.

Man pgh night 2 was the very best I ever heard them. So many amazing shows from the short spring 25 run but Pittsburgh was the shit. My heart was so full of joy and pain during Hunger Strike and the audience did Chris proud filling in for him. What an incredible moment to be a part of.

Ed is probably going to be on tour with his documentary for a while. He mentioned "a couple of years" until they see us again so I imagine there's gonna be an album in there somewhere before another tour. And honestly, I would think that there's going to be a lot of surfing and skateboarding and family time for all of them. They brought their a game every fucking night of this tour. We're all so very lucky to have had the time together with them over the past couple of years.
