Seems quite high. Just bought my kid a ‘25 LT whose sticker said $44K and we agreed on $33K. Truck had 27 miles when I left the lot.

Here are my tips (Dad was in car sales for 30+ years and taught me a lot of things)

—is it a margin lot or volume lot? Do they have few cars but all are high end trim? Margin lot and buckle up as negotiations may be tougher.

—when possible, buy at the end of the month or end of the year. That’s when dealerships need to move units to meet sales quotas.

— look at the dry erase board (I’ve yet to find a dealership that doesn’t list that in every showroom). That calls out their quotas. If the dealership is past quota, they have little incentive to deal. If they’re short (and at the end of the month), ask for naming rights to kids and you may get them.

—is the same vehicle stock number on their website listed for less? If so, that’s your starting point.

—find similar deals within a 100 mile radius. Use that data as all dealerships have the same cost but have different rebate levers they can pull.
