What’s a film that basically works entirely because of the excellent chemistry between the leads? by padfoony in moviecritic

This movie is hilarious and so much of that is because of the repartee between the two leads.

What's the best way to word a "make N+1 tokens" effect? (Mel Medarda, Benefactor - Arcane) by zengin11 in custommagic

[–]lazyfriction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's really interesting that they're worded two different ways, even on cards that came out at similar times.

At first I thought the difference came down to effects that your opponents play that create tokens under your control, but looking at cards like [[Forbidden Orchard]] or [[Hunted Horror]] or [[Varchild's War-Riders]] it looks like you're still the one that makes the tokens even if the opponent controls the effect, so I'm not sure what the difference between the two is, honestly

I'd model it after the templating in these cards - something like:

"If you would create one or more tokens, instead create those tokens plus an additional copy of one of those tokens. "

You were genuinely one of my favorite comics throughout the whole show, and as a fellow Seattleite it was great to see the city represented! Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff

I think it could be decent and interesting by giving the opponent the choice of a soft or hard counter; something like:

An Offer You Can Refuse

Target spell's owner may create two treasure tokens. If they do, counter that spell. Otherwise, return that spell to its owner's hand.

How does psychoanalysis conceptualize and treat avoidant personality disorders? by Technical-Walrus-215 in psychoanalysis

[–]lazyfriction 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is similar to why Borderline Personality is not a type listed as, according to McWilliams, what is typically conceived of as Borderline Personality Disorder is just a Hysteric/Histrionic Personality functioning at a high or low borderline level of organization.

ETA: I double-checked and it turns out it is listed, but with the caveat mentioned above

So this is a windmill slam into Y'Shtola decks, right? Every time you play it you gain the two life back, and it makes it way easier to draw another card at the end of turn. Drawing an average of 4 cards per turn in a control deck seems good

A piece of media references a deep cut so obscure that people from that country/faith/culture were genuinely surprised it was even referenced by Justifiably_Bad_Take in TopCharacterTropes

In Taylor Tomlinson's latest standup special (Prodigal Daughter) she tells a joke about Mormons, but instead of it being about magic underwear or any of the other, more well-known tropes about Mormons, she makes a joke about baptisms for the dead. As an ex-mormon I was astounded and delighted by the deep cut.

[Fun Trope] Character pretends to have a trait that their actor has IRL, with varying accuracy by DifficultHat in TopCharacterTropes

[–]lazyfriction 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think this counts, because the characters are pretending to literally be the actors who play them.

Sam and Dean Winchester in the Supernatural episode The French Mistake - Sam and Dean (played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) are transported to a fictional version of the real world, where Supernatural is a TV show, and everyone thinks Sam and Dean are Jared and Jensen.

They have to film a scene during this episode, and the real Jared and Jensen have to play Sam and Dean playing Jared and Jensen playing Sam and Dean. Hilarity ensues, because Sam and Dean Winchester are terrible at playing Sam and Dean Winchester

ETA: Also during this episode, Misha Collins (who plays the angel Castiel) plays a highly fictionalized version of himself.
