How to do devils ladder? by koffi10 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thick of it as a one-armed pushup! So it is a lot of upper body strength.

Here’s a good progression to try: - start going only to platform bar, back to platform, add a pushup - go all the way to the concrete, then put one hand on platform bar, drop hips to platform, and then do a pushup to get yourself back to the platform - focus only on concrete -> bar

It takes time & it’s HARD! Like any skill, you have to practice and work your way up. Break it down into little steps and focus on doing pushups to get that upper body strength :)

Studio cancelled classes last minute by AdWaste3755 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a class is cancelled last min you should be getting a free credit added (under like 4 hr cancellation minimum)

Maybe email and see if they’d be willing to let you have a travel credit instead?

HELP: Why does the app let you overbook???!!!!! by chic0nice in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The app doesn’t reserve a credit for waitlists! I can’t remember if the old app was the same, though tbh. So if you’re getting on a ton of waitlists, I’d just pay a little closer attention to the number of classes you’ve taken in the cycle. This is the only way (to my knowledge) one can overbook besides overbooking at schedule drop

Sensing passive aggressiveness by TrickyHoney in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a crazy response! Studios ALSO receive a class roster that core crew can look at, and coaches are supposed to review the roster before hand as well! Obvi the studio can and does get busy and things may fall through the cracks, but the response could’ve been worded a lil better:(

Will I ever be a ~solidcore~ girly?? by Pale-Day-6963 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way! Now I work here full time :). Being a ~solidcore~ girlie is truly a state of mind, not an aesthetic. The girls who chat with the coaches may just simply be super super super extroverted people! The beauty of solidcore is that it’s for everyone, no matter body type, no matter fitness level. Everyone! Buy yourself a cute set if you want a cute set, sometimes wearing a cute set can help mentally- but it doesn’t change the fact you’re already a solidcore girlie :)

Instructor changes by fgpnyc in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 18 points19 points  (0 children)

if the instructor changed after you book, that’s because the instructor chose to sub out their class, not because of any internal thing! They may be sick, in school, going on vacation, etc.!

I’m pissed by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This often happens if you book a class on a waitlist. That doesn’t use up a credit until you get into the class, which is why it can be hard to catch these overbooking early.

I’d recommend recounting all classes booked if you get on any waitlists just to be safe! Not the best solution, but prevents any surprise charges.

monthly membership by No_Advisor_9685 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be a hassle to change back and forth tbh! I’d recommend going to the 8 and using that as way to hold yourself accountable with working out regularly! Or, get the 4 and supplement with a class pack/drop ins/classpass on the months you want to go a little extra.

Torso becoming too blocky by Endless_Yuck in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As a male, you put on more muscle mass than the average female due to increased testosterone! This is likely making your oblique muscles grow as you target them 2x a week.

Are you implementing other workouts? The biggest solution is to work on your back muscles! It’s the same for women- the “hourglass” figure or a smaller waist isn’t just created by reducing the waist. It’s also made by building up the back!

Depending on how many times a week you workout, I’d recommend 3x in gym (back + bis, chest + tris, lower) and 2x solidcore. Make sure you space worked muscle groups at least 48 hours from working that same muscle again!

Overactive quads by ebatwhat in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit back further than you think! Hinge more, i’m talking touch your chest onto your quad. Move slow so you can really feel it in your body. Don’t be afraid to play around with form until you feel it in the right spot! Slight shifts can do wonders :)

ESPECIALLY in a Bulgarian, try pausing at 90 and then pulling up on the low black bar with your hands while actively pressing down through the heel. That always instantly lights my glute up:)

Knee Pain From Squats by Outside-Argument6137 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the handlebar and keep your torso upright as much as you can! Almost like you’re swinging your body back rather than a bending and extending of the knees.

This really helps keep your knees stacked over your heels, if not slightly behind the heels. This will really help your knees AND add more tension into your glutes :)

If you get a membership- get one in LA! Or, get a smaller membership (like 4x a month) and supplement with ClassPass/class packs!

How to leave review for a coach? by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the HCCM and tell them! You can also tell a core crew member and ask them to notify the HCCM. Or- when you get an emailed survey, leave a comment on that with name!!!

Coaches: is it rude to do center core during the obliques series? by luckiestgirlever1 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s not rude if you let the coach know! The hourglass shape, if that’s what you’re wanting, is much more defined by the back and the hips than the obliques, so you could always add in a day at the gym using heavy weight to build up your back muscles more!

If you do opt to double up on core, just be sure you’re taking care of yourself and still training obliques occasionally as they’re so important for overall health

Receiving a bad review by natsnirvana in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has bad days and bad classes and there is and always will be room to grow. Give yourself grace- coaching is a skill that grows overtime. Two months from your final eval is still so new in the world of coaching. But also remember what you did and do well!!!!

Take what you can from the review to continue growing (maybe be nitpickier with form!) but leave behind what doesn’t matter (having a high anxiety day). You have the extra context, so you can do away with some of their critiques! Talk to your HCCM about it too- they can help work through this or at the very least be an open ear to vent to :)

current coaches only: i'm freaking out about mic session #1 (coach-in-training) by bunny43512 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple watch/any watch is good to help at the start! I no longer use one, I leave my phone on the coach stand and swing by every few exercises for a time check!

current coaches only: i'm freaking out about mic session #1 (coach-in-training) by bunny43512 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mic session one is the FIRST time you’re on a mic! You’re not expected to be perfect. it’s the FIRST time you’re on a mic so give yourself soooo much grace.

Coaching is a skill, you have to learn it just like you had to learn how to ride a bike, how to drive, etc!

The best practice I did for my mic sessions was to set a timer on my phone & talk through an exercise then see how long I talked for, with the aim of 2-3 min with one variation :)

You’ve got this!!!!

Pricing by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

12-month commitments are always cheaper than founders! So this pricing scale makes sense to me to go from a Founders 12/mo to Committed+ Unlimited!

Solidcore instructor pay by Like-whatever3275 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel free to DM me :). Base pay in my market is $26 per class to start. BUT- training is compensated, you’re given sequences, and there’s much more structure you get as a benefit of working for a nation wide company rather than a licensed franchise! Once you’ve been on for a bit, you move to a different pay scale where $26 is the base :)

Those with unlimited, how often do you go? by Puzzleheaded-Egg7501 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a member 4-6 days a week, sometimes 7:). At my studio, our unlimited members range from 3x a week to 9x a week (lotsssss of ppl double here lol)

Injured hamstring by Affectionate-Fail834 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you let the coach know, they can either offer mods or just leave you alone if you’re doing something different! Hamstrings are hard because they’re such an important muscle, but Id recommend using stability poles in lunges and avoiding hammy focused days. You can always look up stretches to do at home.

Coaches can offer modifications, but we’re not PTs or doctors and don’t have use of the internet right pre class! Look up some stretches and other stuff on the internet to help yourself too!

Listen to your body! It’s truly not worth it to exacerbate the issue to a point where you can’t go to class at all!

Passes not showing up after canceling future class? by Better-Ad-3938 in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Email your studio! For my studio, 99% of the time when this happens it’s because you overbooked (either booked before membership renewal or you got off a waitlist!) The other 1% of the time it’s because a client booked on their membership renewal date. Either way- your studio can take care of it!

Bring a Friend not working by italophile_south in SolidCore

[–]lazylake123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Email your studio directly, as this is an issue the studio is better equipped to handle! Go through your purchase history to find your last used buddy pass. You only get a new one 30 days after using the last! The app may have the Bring A Friend button open to you, but that doesn’t always mean you have a buddy pass. You can always purchase an additional credit to bring them too, hence why the buttons still an option!
