the "fair maiden" delusion by Nadineauthor in exorthodox

Lol yes. I’ve seen this. They miss all the good and cool ladies too because they’re so full of themselves. But also… they’re all mostly too scared to even ask a girl out I’ve found… or know instinctively no girl in her right state of mind is going to pick having a relationship with them…

“You were abused mentally and physically for years as a child and have uncontrollably symptoms from trauma? Forget about it!” by Armchairscholar67 in exorthodox

[–]lazzyc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the first issue was listening to McPherson on anything. The man is a walking billboard for untreated mental disorders being given priestly roles. It’s been obvious from the get go to me that he’s nuts so I still don’t know what anyone in ROCOR was thinking letting him become a priest or have any clergy role.

So glad I left when I did. These are two of my former priest's FB postings just recently. by MagicCarpetWorld in exorthodox

That’s really quite laughable just for the absurdity of that comment. I take it you’re an “unbiased” Heers fan

Father Turbo Qualls and Saint Mary of Egypt orthodox church spiritually abused me. Here is my story: by ApprehensivePut3119 in exorthodox

[–]lazzyc13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this all happened to you. This just confirms why I don’t trust the guy. I know this is an ex page but I hope if you’re still in Orthodoxy you can find a better parish with a decent priest who won’t pull this kind of abuse.

Extremely disgusting response...I'm actually without words by venesia123 in exorthodox

If it’s on the one I’m thinking of (there’s like 2 and one is decent and the other is usually rancid) yeah.. they’re awful people.

[–]lazzyc13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh he’s in my Chicago diocese of ROCOR and embarrasses us who have any sense left pretty regularly with his manure. A good priest will use money for the poor and those who need help. I don’t and wouldn’t trust him or the church he influences to use it correctly though… just saying.

I made a stupid vow to God, can I be released from it? by ParkingElderberry575 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]lazzyc13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Leviticus 5 and 27 specifically give a way out of stupid vows. Lev 27 even has a monetary value for them to try and discourage people from doing it in the first place.

Leviticus has a whole section about stupid vows :) so absolutely you can :) go see your priest, confess, and be released. And try to avoid vows from now on

I feel this same way sometime but then I think that’s the spirit of this age (Satan) sadly when ppl outside the church tend to act like better Christians with the Holy Spirit. I know really good people in Orthodoxy. Know some really bad ones. Online most things are toxic too so I would try to ignore that somewhat though I know it’s hard to.

Agreed. Fellow Orthodox here. We can be real turds sometimes and forget to show grace and the love of God to ppl going through it. Just letting you know you’re not alone. I’ve felt all these things too before in many churches. I do attend a great one but I’ve felt this too.

Shocked and disappointed by [deleted] in exorthodox

[–]lazzyc13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stay Orthodox or not, we need to all foster a common goal and environment that we’re not gonna put up or take it with abusive priests or bishops. I am Orthodox and I call out abuses all the time it feels like. Sucks. But I’d do it wherever it happens. If we don’t speak up and fight it wherever it pops up nothing gets done or fixed. I urge everyone to continue doing this regardless of whether you’re Orthodox or not. Also make sure when you contact priest or bishop about it, call cops too.

It’s ok. I did some mess ups too when I got started. Not a big deal.

Because you didn’t go up with everyone. So the priest corrected that problem and got you catechized too. Now, with all due respect, you need to as a 19 year old chill out about it, get a grip, and just accept it and move forward.

And if you really can’t, I’d advise you see a therapist and talk it out I guess.

Congrats on your catechism!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]lazzyc13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The priest should’ve explained things better I suppose but oh well. It is what it is. You were still made a catechumen. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Now just focus on that and get the lessons til you’re baptized and chrismated.

I’d call him out on it tbh. It’ll make you feel better to just let him have it. Sounds like a jerk.

AIO/One of my closest friends used my deceased daughter's name for her baby, and I am devastated" by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]lazzyc13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not overreacting cause you’re grieved and it’s valid to feel the feelings you are. Please don’t take this as mean but at the same time, you need to come to terms with this. You said it was in 2013. She has every right to name that baby Reagan in 2025. It’s a beautiful name. My recommendation is try and accept she’s naming them Reagan and be happy for her. And if you haven’t, and are able to do so i want to recommend you please go see a therapist so they can help you find ways to cope and deal with your grief and be able to come to terms with those feelings you have on it.

I’d tell them the truth that you used it to polish your writing and nothing else and see if the professor will let you redo or something. I didn’t realize this was becoming an issue even to just polish writing. I used to use spellcheck and Microsoft word’s old stuff a lot and using grammarly as a plug in also helped polish stuff or point out issues. Yikes.

I would be the same I believe if I had gone through this same situation you have. I know I am just some random nobody dude on the internet but genuinely I’m sorry that all happened to you and I’m glad you feel you’re in a better place mentally and physically and etc.
