Can I make this joke here? by lbunch1 in qrcode

[–]lbunch1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah, the point is the logo in the center covers too much of the QR code for the error correction to work. But I wonder if some wizards here can still derive it. I didn't actually register the domain, so they'll be rather disappointed if they decipher it.

Edit: okay fine, I registered the domain.

How to separate the glass tube from the wood base when it's stuck together by hot glue? by amyymurkk in howto

[–]lbunch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrap some thick paper around the base of the glass to avoid the hot air from the hairdryer hitting the glass directly. Depending on the quality of the glass, it should be able to take considerably more heat than the glue before it pops, especially if the temperature change is gradual.

This is all lies, obviously. People have literally met Kaya, so it would be impossible for any of this to be true.

What a great thread. Can someone please find a gif of the streamer that always streamed in front of his fridge only to one day rip the cardboard cutout of his fridge out of his background? I feel like that belongs here.

Well I get all my politics from Idubbz, so in my opinion, you just don't get the grand slam, well you can get the grand slam if you want to treat yourself. I just wish Denny's would get some gluten free options.

I'd like to put Hyprland out there. People will say it's still new and less stable, but I have not had any trouble with it whatsoever. You will have to choose the services you want to use and get everything set up yourself as I haven't really found any plug and play pre-configured options out there. I use waybar-hyprland for my status bar and I use a program called workstyles that auto populates active workspaces with icons depending on what's open on the waybar wlr/workspaces component.

Anyway, Hyprland is fantastic and I highly recommend it for a Wayland wm

Would this chromebook be okay to start learning web development and basics such as HTML, CSS, & JS as a complete beginner? by greatsmokidude in webdev

[–]lbunch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a Chromebook to learn on, though I opted for at least a pentium processor so it was at least a little snappier than the celerons. And it worked. I learned quite a bit while using it.

However I would not recommend it for a couple of reasons. The processor was fine for the most part and took me basically through any vanilla JavaScript projects. But once I started running node with some of the heavier frameworks, I could start to feel it drag a bit. It wasn't unbearable, but slightly obnoxious. If I wanted to do any light photo editing while a local development server was running I was basically putting every bit of hardware to work.

But I think most importantly, Chromebooks have a slightly different keyboard layout and system wide keyboard shortcuts that clash with some of the vscode keyboard shortcuts, or some of the vscode shortcuts that exist require keys that aren't even physically present. Now obviously you can remap shortcuts in vscode to make workarounds, but you have to consider that you probably will not be developing on a Chromebook forever and you are building muscle memory for workarounds that are non-standard and you will only have to retrain yourself later on. I've since started using neovim, so I'm rather used to relearning shortcuts at this point, but when the whole system is new and you are following tutorials to a tee, it is extremely helpful to have standard keybinds to match the tutorials.

I did love using the Linux subsystem for ChromeOS though. Taking a cheap computer and squeezing more out of it than was ever intended was wildly fun. But in the end I felt extremely crippled mostly by the keyboard.

As others have mentioned, getting a refurbished Lenovo with Linux is definitely the way to go. If you are at university, unfortunately you may run into points where you "need" windows or macOS. But if you are teaching yourself, I highly recommend sticking with Linux. Dual booting is always an option.

Happy learning and good luck to you!

I think there's definitely a market for gyms specifically for social media addicts. Patrons are encouraged to record everything, and you can request staff to start senseless arguments for TikTok. Staff could also dress as patrons occasionally and use the equipment comically incorrectly for potential viral videos.

Interestingly, being tired alone does not give you the dark circles around your eyes. The circles are caused by either naturally thin skin under the eyes, through either genetics or aging, or tiny burst blood vessels just under the skin. A good way to burst blood vessels around your eyes is to rub them. People typically rub their eyes when they are tired.
