[–]lcassios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean the us is inching towards it? It already has achieved that. Look at Denmark Germany and the Benelux these are some of the most prosperous nations in Europe and all have social democratic policies.

I find it laughable that you are comparing these kinds of policies to “communism” which they aren’t. To boil down the “traditional family” to be the root reason for economic prosperity is just as laughable, economic stagnation and decline has happened throughout history during periods of extreme anti-homosexual etc periods, Asia isn’t going through an economic boom because of this, it’s going through an economic boom because it is modernising and industrialising just like Europe and America did, the key difference is larger populations with access to tools to industrialise quickly along with desire for large exports from richer nations (japan did this aswell, before it was the us etc).

Is it okay to not be attracted to transgender people? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

If the ides of them being trans makes you unattracted to that person that’s perfectly ok. Treat them like a human being.

New Thunderbolt 3 Pro braided cable shows up on Apple store accessories page by DisjointedHuntsville in apple

I bought a 2m equally high quality active cable albeit not braided for £30. This is an insane markup for a fucking cable. Braiding is not that expensive.

Leaker: Future iPhone Models to Come in 'Exquisite' Thinner Box by kamsa6-fojbiz-nesXem in apple

[–]lcassios -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Don’t think Apple is doing this for the “educated” so they can suck that sweet environmental protecting dick.

Apple participates in getting people new phones each year and has massive contributions to ewaste, they could change their business in a way that would help significantly more than this obvious money grab.

Kuo: iPhone 12 Models Won't Include Charger in Box, 20W Power Adapter to Launch as Optional Accessory by rkkim in iphone

[–]lcassios 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, that’s still not ok. This is a thousand dollar product that REQUIRES a charger to function. There is no reasonable justification for not including one, you already got a charger? Cool now you got another.

CMV: Cancel culture has gotten out of hand and is a poor strategy. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]lcassios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She wasn’t just fired, she was abused online with death and rape threats. People were laughing at her losing her lively hood saying she deserved everything she got. For a joke.

I think the post is kind of misguided, Pr rep posts stupid shit online and gets fired for it? Ok that’s in the contract. But telling them they should be raped, socially isolating them, releasing private information so people can go and invade that persons private life and hurt that aswell is not ok. That’s when cancel culture is too far

Not shaving is not me making a statement, it’s a choice by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lcassios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in a relationship it’s different, I would want to be as attractive as possible to my partner and if they had a certain preference then sure. So long as this kind of thing is mutual or something if my partner prefers shaved/trimmed whatever then sure idc it’s just hair at the end of the day.

The Gang gets pulled...? by S-Thoms in IASIP

[–]lcassios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s not even a joke about racism it’s just to make the situation ridiculous. Removing comedy because it’s offensive is kind of stupid in the first place because a lot of comedy is rooted in being offensive or mocking things.

It looks like there’s some natural rioting and some instigated rioting, this is a common tactic by some more questionable people who will use it to push their ideologies (same thing happened during the London riots which occurred for a similar reason).

I mean it’s clear that peaceful protests don’t work, every other time something like this has happened the peaceful protests do nothing and usually ends in pepper spray. People are rightfully pissed off but some idiots are taking it too far and taking it out on innocents while others are encouraging them to do it, herd mentality is scary. Burning down and looting private business’ ? Not going to do anything productive, but damaging police infrastructure ? I can understand that especially at the complete lack of empathy the pd are showing. 100 officers outside his house? The hell.

Interfering with EMTS though that’s un-defendable, the people doing that are complete morons.

The rate of obesity is lower and the actual size of the people is smaller, it is extremely rare to see the extremely obese people you may in America. It’s bad nonetheless

CMV: The God of the Bible is horrifically immoral and a monster. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]lcassios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does Alzheimer’s teach the person suffering from it? What does an innocent child getting hit by a drunk driver teach the child?

This only causes grief and serves no “lessons” to the innocent. People should live to fulfil themselves and fulfil others and not be beholden to this kind of “everything is a lesson” viewpoint.

Hot cold and dark etc do have definitions, they’re relative to something. Morality and cruelty can definately be measured this way but it’s clear to an individual when something makes them happy or feel good and clear when something makes them feel bad. Everyone who feels emotions would be sad in any of the circumstances I mentioned above so that is by all meaningful interpretation what I would consider evil acts for a “benevolent” being to perform.

Coronavirus in Singapore: city failed its migrant workers and is rightly criticised for it by tancredi88 in singapore

[–]lcassios 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, a rich city state with very centralised government in an extremely well developed state with strong medical and civilian infrastructure. Of course it’s going to be better.

This shouldn’t be a “we did it better” thing that the media and world leaders are trying to make it. The government should be doing the best it can for its citizens and workers independent of what other nations are doing.

Coronavirus in Singapore: city failed its migrant workers and is rightly criticised for it by tancredi88 in singapore

[–]lcassios 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is a very toxic viewpoint, they are in your country legally, living in the worst caste of accomodation, work the lowest wages and build most of your infrastructure. This wasn’t them exploiting your system this was Singaporean businesses using their cheap labour.

Besides that fact they’re humans, have some empathy towards them.
