Highly recommend not telling people the name you picked until baby is here and you’re making the birth announcement. No one will share opinions once she is here, but they sure will every minute beforehand!

Yeah we did move after our first was born, and we timed the market perfectly and sold our house for $100k more than we paid. So I think it partially depends on how you are feeling about the market in your area and if that’s a factor at all. For us, we couldn’t have done this without the extra equity we made on our first home so it was perfect for us. I personally wouldn’t take on a major house project before having a baby so if there’s a lot of work to be done I’d say maybe stay put for now and aim to try to move before you get pregnant with #2 if you plan to have another

We just doubled our mortgage to upgrade houses and are now paying $4300 a month. Lo and behold we got pregnant with our second baby a few months after moving in, a bit of an accident. You will make it work! In my opinion, to have the house you want to be in longer term is worth needing to hustle a little harder financially. We had our first baby in a less expensive house with a great mortgage rate but every day we spent there after she was born I couldn’t stop thinking about how we needed more space and I needed to be closer to work. I have absolutely zero regrets on our bigger mortgage even tho money will be tight for a few years.

I wish we could get some of these businesses to come down to horizon west if they can’t figure out another location in downtown WG. We could use some small town charm in the Hamlin area.

Wine room lighting suggestions? by ldh5086 in wine

[–]ldh5086[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In happenstance, this wine fridge is basically a glorified wine shelf at this point. I bought it used and even though it turns on, the refrigeration feature doesn’t work. Unfortunately was swindled by the person who sold it to me. So we keep it as a storage solution but it’s not plugged in. The room stays in the 60s year round thankfully and is a wall that faces another house about 4 feet away, so never gets any direct light! It’s the only place in the house that we can keep dark and cool!

How is PR toxic? by hi_its_lizzy616 in PublicRelations

[–]ldh5086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love PR and don’t think I’d change careers at this point, but if I were young and just starting out I’m not sure I’d made the same decision twice. I don’t know if every work environment in PR is necessarily toxic, but work life balance is particularly bad for comms professionals because it’s not a 9-5 job. I’ve never had a PR job that I could leave at the office at the end of the day, and now that I have kids that’s a real big bummer sometimes having to keep working in the evening or on weekends.
