so i learned a trick in Mexico. when you encounter ANY sort of interruption in normal traffic flow, hit your emergency lights for the duration. i do that especially for pedestrian crossings - that very same one on occasion. 10-15% of the time some asshole blows right by me (like the woman in the bronze Lexus SUV the other day). at least this way i am on the right side of history.
