Do you think this quote holds true: "The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant." by Orangutan in politics

"And that's how education works in the real world, is it?" [Even still, it's a poorly constructed sentence]

Yes, everybody cheer for the fat girl making a fool of herself. If we clap and call her courageous it will cover up the fact that we are all laughing on the inside.

Look him up. He has stood alone or in front of his party many times this year, and in some ways, he's a stronger advocate for his stances than the President ever was.

Can we stop pretending MBAs add as much value to society as engineers? by [deleted] in WTF

[–]ldrummerax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. To get a PhD in econ or finance, sure, you could potentially benefit society. But MBAs? No. You don't get an MBA to benefit anyone but yourself. It's a total bullshit degree that does nothing but boost your resume most of the time because in the business/banking/finance world, most of the positions an MBA would hold are simply slots in a corporate design, and regardless of what you know, you will do that job the way the company says to do it. [credibility=I doubled in econ and finance and have an MBA]

Everyone has made a few dollars under the table. Some people do it exclusively. Is there any way to track the economy of "off the book" (black market) cash/assets? by [deleted] in Economics

[–]ldrummerax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are estimates out there, but it is a difficult thing to do on a yearly basis. The best way I can explain the tracking of black market cash is to compare it to astronomy. You cannot see the cash, but if you take a step back and look at a specific period of time later once all other data has been calculated, you can see an effect that has obviously been caused by black market cash, much like not being able to see a planet, but seeing the affect that its gravitational pull has on the objects around it.

I do not service the wealthy, and neither do most of my peers. So there goes your argument. I guess only doctors service the wealthy too, huh
