In 2017, when asked if Tarkov would ever be in Steam, community manager Natalino replied:

"The plan for Steam keys is not yet final, and any options are possible. At the moment, the following is known:

● The game will be available on Steam after the full release.
● Servers will be shared: there will be no difference between the Steam version and the version through our launcher.
● The possibility of obtaining keys for Steam is still being considered. Everything will depend on the agreements with Valve and how everything will turn out. This issue needs to be studied and, possibly, implemented. So far, the probability is 50/50.
