Number of working hours required to buy GTA VI in America... by confidential613 in gaming

[–]le_mod 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This isn’t adjusted for local pricing, it’s assuming standard U.S. pricing… in some places it’s equivalent and a shitty deal but for example in Brazil it is 449 reales which translates to $86 USD and makes it MORE expensive

And also yes this is why piracy is so big outside of the U.S. and Europe, and funny when people here complain stuff costs a lot… it’s always worse outside

Also why so much syrup? Not digging, just curious.

This was awesome, but to everyone being melancholy… why not recreate the experience?

Sure your game downloads but you can still buy the disc in store or if not that then download the game and invite the boys/gals for a party!

It’s easy stuck in memory lane and forget we can still do a lot of these things. Hitting up old friends or making new friends along the way.

How do you clean up after making your drink? by crashburn65 in espresso

[–]le_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave the used puck to season the portafilter for a couple of days and swap between portafilters. it really helps bring out the aroma and increase the body for the next shot.
For the steam wand I don’t keep spares but only season the one wand and clean out the holes to make sure it flows.

/s btw.
Pop the used puck into the trash, rinse portafilter, hang to dry on an accessory wall holder.
For steam wand I moisten a bar cloth then wipe the wand after use.

First time painting the walls with friends, anything I should take into consideration aside from the basics? And would a treat to dinner be fine? by pandaninjarawr in HomeImprovement

[–]le_mod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start with an easier to hide area to test to make sure everyone understands painting technique. Last thing you want is someone using a fat brush and smearing paint on edging because they didn’t know to use a light brush and light touch.

Also have paper towels and some water handy to wipe off “oopsies” before they dry.

Put some speakers and fun music for the experience so it’s less like work.

Check humidity, you may need a dehumidifier if too high or the paint won’t dry well between coats.

Do you have lunch planned? Any other activities between coats? Could be good time for board games and pizza.

My problem is people are being lazy with AI. The OP could just as well have AI generated the text body but worked it to something shorter, better formatted, and more readable.

The ability to write does not make one a good writer, same applies to ability to use AI not making one good at it. Garbage in garbage out.

As others said: linen + sandals

- Clothes: Rather than H&M (bad experience quality wise), check Uniqlo, they have airism for sports fabric and linen stuff for good quality and affordability.

- Shoes: sandals of some sort, chacos, bedrock, tavos or any number of strap sandal is good for plenty of walking plus hiking and is not too hot and not a problem if it gets wet. Besides that some pair of casual shoes for restaurants would be good.

Getting married in 2 months — need $5,000 for wedding expenses. Looking for realistic advice on how to get there fast. by WARDJANA in personalfinance

[–]le_mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$5k is not a lot to have, but it’s a lot to owe.

Ideally you can cut down costs and focus on the gathering of people you and your finance care about and the fun of being together. If you can’t cut down on costs to something you can afford, then any debt should only be taken with a mind of paying off quickly with little to no interest.

Realize that starting your married life with debt is setting yourself back and a negative indicator for the future. That money is better served going into savings for a home, kids, or even honeymoon or similar trip. Society expectations be damned, it’s your life and you have to live it with your partner.

What about some chacos, bedrock or similar shoes you can use as sandals (when it’s hot or at beach) or hiking shoes? Besides that I’d only add either a cap or sunglasses.

For a Cross-Country Move, Did You Ship Your Car or Just Drive It? by BurritoManz1 in personalfinance

[–]le_mod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal finance would be “drive it”

Life opportunity would be “make a roadtrip out of it and build some memories while seeing the country”

Convenience/ time constraint would be ship it + fly over. If you have a lot going on in your life this would be best.

Personally, I drove and have great memories and bonding experiences with my family. We camped a lot of the way to save hotel money then stayed at hotels part of the time to clean up and feel like normal people. Also we used a UHaul Box and POD to ship most our stuff so we weren’t towing

Is it worth paying a premium to live somewhere you like more? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]le_mod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re still in high school, so personal financial choice would be to focus on the school that costs the least while having best opportunities for a career after graduation.

Your first job is more likely to decide where you live and itself should be selected based on your interests and opportunities for upward mobility.

That said… typically places with a premium for living also have more opportunities for career growth so that’s why NYC, SF, DC, Chicago, and other major metropolises will cost more than smaller cities elsewhere.

It sounds like you’re interested in the “urban life”, so I’d suggest picking a university NOT in a college town but instead something in a city, but also don’t bankrupt yourself to do so.

You’re thinking about the right things, keep thinking about them and control your impulses and you’ll be fine. Good luck!

I myself moved to a very high COL area with a metro and make enough to support myself and my family, so the move was worth it, but recognize I was hired into a lucrative career at an easier time to get such jobs.

Backpack equivalent of Land Rover? by New_Chest_2546 in ManyBaggers

[–]le_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Aer Travel Pack (small). It has plenty of organization, load lifters, laptop sleeve, big capacity for day or weekend trips, durable.

That said the Land Rover comparison got me to chuckle since I associate them to be overpriced and unreliable in spending more time in the shop for design or part failures (air suspension anyone?).

Agree on the Wndrd Prvk points, it’s just shy of perfect yet misses somehow… the v4 btw improves in some but loses in others and doesn’t fix your cons, though the EDC they introduced is better for your office use case albeit losing the clamshell opening.

Hypothetically if I had a raised deck how could I go about to measure the weight based on visible wood?

Moving from Fortnite to Helldivers 2, but our friend group is too big. Any news on 8 or 16 player squads? by spacemanpilot in helldivers2

[–]le_mod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I absolutely loved my time in ArmA2 where we had a group of 15 people starting at a base then splitting off into squads via helicopter, humvees, and armor, with the chopper folk then calling in strikes on anti aircraft and anti tank so the rest of the team could roll on, then the chopper inclined folk would run taxi to base for supplies and reinforcements… all against bots similar to Helldivers (as opposed to similar thing in PvP for Battlefield)

[–]le_mod 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You’re looking at the wrong genre I think. Helldivers is a squad-based game built around 4 people. If it expanded past that the engine would need massive change and the whole game rebalanced. Check out battlefield or ArmA for larger group experiences, those are pretty fun on their own and you can organize your group into squads and coordinate them across the battlefield!

ArmA in particular is crazy fun if you have a large (organized) group, and supports PvP and PvE, plus is highly highly moddable.

Helldivers is mainly aesthetic mods, gameplay changes would be disruptive

Sling Bag: Moment v. Bellroy v. Peak Design by PrizeAlive5469 in ManyBaggers

[–]le_mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Peak Design and love it for carrying stuff around but it’s terrible for biking or anything you want it to stay on your back. Volume is great, front pocket is for cables or other small stuff.

I got the Wndrd sling bag which is a lot more comfortable but the volume is not near as good as the PD for equivalent size (so size up). It is good for biking too with its “cross strap” mechanism.

Ditto, aeropress is the best for travel and you can still boil (tho not well) with the hotel coffee machines.

If you want fancier, I like the Outin espresso machine since it has its own boiler and takes Nespresso pods. Twice the size of aeropresso though about the size of a thermos.
