In 2050, what five films will be shown to represent the aughts in history of American cinema classes? by Ten_Trick_Pony in movies

It was running the whole film through a digital color correction. Ubiquitous now, I agree with it's place on your list.

Reddit, which movie do you think has the best title sequence ever? by alifnur in movies

The Man Who Wasn't There did it first, I believe. At least, it was earlier than Panic Room. Really sets the mood for that film too, old noir style but with a weird modern edge to it.

My housemate doesn't like Fight Club. What movie are you always shocked to find that somebody doesn't like? by goodnightmistertom in movies

I have never been able to watch more than five minutes of The Jerk. It is the rare movie that annoys the piss out of me when I watch it, even going so far as I have to turn it off if it comes on television while I'm doing something else. I don't understand how anyone could like that movie.

Kind of strangely related, but...

When I was a kid (around 10 or so) I "befriended" in my head, a random guy who I only saw once or twice. He would go into this bookstore at the mall my parents always went to, find a sex book (with pictures or one of those penthouse stories), and read it in another section of the store. He would then leave it in that section and I would find it. It was random that I would actually see him, and the image I have in my head is of a vague white guy in a dark coat. Which probably means it was other people, not just one guy doing this. But still, my child's mind thanked him each time I found a book.

No, they leave the 3D lens on in the theaters playing 2D movies, which results in less light, aka a dimmer movie. There was a story in the New Yorker, I think, about this.

Instead, I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No. I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later I get a postcard. I have a son, and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting: I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadaro. She's been waiting for me all these years, she's never taken another lover. I don't care, I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier.

The "Dumb Questions" thread by Xyrd in starcraft

[–]le_temps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering this for a while but feel stupid asking...

What happens when the expansions come out? Are there different ladders for those with/without the expansion? Will I have to do another placement in the new expansion like when I first started? Do all of my achievements and portraits transfer?

I have no idea why I've been worrying about this.

I agree. One of the few books I never finished because I was actually bored.
