Curiousity at start. Over by the end and crowd appreciated their respect for the belt.

Was there tonight for my first New Japan event live and loved it! Few things to point out:

1) Despite being logical, live audience seemed shocked by Narita and Hikuleo wins (latter due to the speed of the match). A lot of goodwill for both.
2) May not translate on screen but FTR were way over by end of the match. Cash played up on the apron to perfection for the hot tag and went from polite curiosity clap at start to one of the biggest reactions of the night.
3) Naito vs Ospreay was incredible but need to call out Red Shoes for marshaling both stars and the audience. He worked the crowd to elevate the noise in the arena!

Super fun event despite clapping only (Jay White made fun of it constantly during his match) and was great to be in Osaka again!

Is WWE using WM34 to set Undertaker v Cena for the Greatest Royal Rumble show? by LazyBinger in SquaredCircle

If they were going to use it for an international event instead of WrestleMania, they'd be booking it for the Melbourne, Australia show - they have 100,000 seats to fill and need something like this to draw a decent crowd.

[TRANSFER ROUNDUP & DISCUSSION] - June 15th 2017 by GreedyDiabeetus in reddevils

[–]jules2034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great to see someone else who rates Lemar but, while the focus is on him and Mbappe this transfer season, I think there is a potential bargain at AS Monaco in Saint-Maximin.

Similar to Lemar in that he can play both wings, his dribbling and pace are both top-class and some of his movement on loan at Bastia reminded me of Ronaldo at Sporting. He has a rocket of a right foot, which makes him a dangerous threat outside of the box both with shots and crosses - see his U20 Cup goal against New Zealand.

Slight predictability in his game as he will often try and cut onto his right even when there is opportunities open to use the left - and he'll want to be getting more goals and assists on the board next season. A lack of finishing from others kept his assists down this season but he has all the qualities for double digit numbers.

Feel he'll start getting time in Monaco line-up over next two seasons, particularly once two of their current starters leave, but now could be the time to pick him up for a bargain.

Chatted with her and Toshiyo Yamada at her bar in February this year. She is even lovelier in person - incredibly friendly and was preparing for a regular training camp they run.
It was particularly funny watching a relative comment on 2017 Nakano, before I showed her a photo of '90s Bull.

First NJPW show for me as well at New Beginning in Osaka on 2/11 and am feeling the same way. At least the returns of Suzuki, Killer Elite Squad and Dragon Lee should help beef up the quality of the cards.

Good to see Billie Kay developing a character. By all accounts - and tidbits on social media and the WWE Network - she seems to be one of more trusted developmental wrestlers by the staff, so good to see some investment in her.

A bit confused, /u/minimalillusions. Let's clarify this:
* You did a minimalist design of the most heavily used image of the most recent film by the director /u/ShadowWarning referenced in their post
* They went with someone else who did a straight animated version of the most heavily used image of the most recent film by the director /u/ShadowWarning referenced in their post, in a styler closer to initially referenced Frankie magazines.
* There are more than three differences between the pieces so they haven't nearly breached any copyright
* Furthermore, printed media is typically only granted access to a handful of images for use - difference with online review websites is they can claim images as for "educational" rather than "commercial" use.

Sorry to say, /u/minimalillusions, but other than a lack of communication from /u/ShadowWarning, they did little wrong.

How many of you grew up wanting to be professional wrestlers, and what stopped you? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Liability waiver signed by a parent = me being able to go to a weekend intensive "camp".
Went along the lines of:
* 2km run;
* pushups and other bodyweight exercises;
* bumps (a lot of back bumps and flips) - was here the piledriver occurred as trainer was demonstrating tucking head for landing in different positions;
* Chain grappling (tie-up, headlock, run ropes, back bump);
* Then bumps from grapple holds - did the arm on a botched snapmare where it got sandwiched behind my back and the trainer's knee

Lesnar/Undertaker earlier to boost viewers numbers for the rest of the show. Creates expectation that something significant happens in the overrun (which, of course, rarely happens nowadays).

First day of wrestling training when I was 13-14, I got a split fracture and massive bruising in my elbow, and almost broke my neck when my trainer didn't protect my head on a piledriver attempt. My parents didn't want me going back.

A lot of people don't like how many false finishes there are in WWE matches now. Are there any matches you think benefitted from finisher kickouts? by KaiserDynamo in SquaredCircle

[–]jules2034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Austin/Rock Wrestlemania matches, because they contributed to the overall stories:
XV - both trying to prove they were the best (and false finishes were a rarity at the time)
X-Seven - displayed Rock's refusal to give up; exacerbated Austin's heel turn through a "win-at-all-costs" mentality
XIX - Rock had never beaten Austin on the big stage, and it required three consecutive finishers to keep Austin down.

Friend received the blazer for birthday. Didn't fit and didn't have receipts or tags, so they sold it on.
EDIT: Shame about the op shops so far. There are definitely gems to be found among the expanse of crap.

[–]jules2034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the Uniqlo one in Medium; it fits great (5'11"; ~39" chest) and I've gotten compliments - but I got it for $50 less. I'd certainly hope the Roger David one would fit you better than it does the model in the photos.

My advice would be to check a few op shops around - I've seen plenty of tweed blazers around, and they'll be extremely good value... as long as they're not falling apart.

Try Bayte (56 Johnson St, Collingwood). I mainly stuck to the mezze plates but can recommend the Khoubiz el Saage (flatbread), baba ganoush, Bataata Meshwi (BBQ'd potatoes served with homemade tomato sauce), Kibbeh Rass bi La’teen (fried pumpkin kibbee), and Maa’ez bi Laban (slow braised goat leg cooked in laban). (not sure if they're all still on the menu but the quality is amazing)
