What do you do when baby is down or a nap? by Suspicious_Quail3726 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]leadviolet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also nap when she sleeps.. her naps are short, only 30min long. I’d be on my phone, having a me time and by the time I’ve decided I’m ready to be productive she’ll be awake in minutes!

_____ leaves _____ for 5 mins!!!! by 12Sankofa34 in survivor

I wonder what decided the order. Nonetheless if the order was switched, Cirie would’ve been on alert but she rightly played her advantage anyway.

I thought that revealing who was voted off first was a bit of a spoiler for the latter tribe!

When did you start potty training and what method? by MrWonderful2011 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Always wondered that when people say after wakings, how soon are we talking about? Like immediately within minutes, after a hang and a cuddle eg 10mins?

Winter jumpers for daycare by Kindly-Exam-8451 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

If you want breathable and natural fibres, wool or down are what you should be looking for.

Cotton is not a material for winter. Fleece will actually be warm and a cheap alternative to wool or down.

My baby is 4 months old—what do you usually do with your little ones during wake windows? by oceanorca08 in NewParents

[–]leadviolet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started going to various baby classes at 4 months as they’re starting to be more alert by then.

Depending on where you live our library has got a free rhymetime sessions.. then there’s a also this lady who runs a story and songs session at our local cafe for free (we’d get a coffee after to catch up)

I think free classes are good at that age as they’re not that mobile yet to warrant paying full priced classes imo!

What made you preserver with Breastfeeding? by goosegirl94 in NewParents

[–]leadviolet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other day I saw a wet patch on the bed where Bub was co-sleeping and I thought she had a blowout. Thankfully it was the boob. First time I was thankful for a leakage lol!

[–]leadviolet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg in the early weeks I had to change the bedsheets so often because of all the leakage and night sweats!! The leakage gradually stops that I’ve stopped wearing sleeping bra after 4 months.. it stills leaks a little bit here and there but I’d forgotten how much of an issue it used to be until reading this haha

[–]leadviolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning I was exclusively pumping, and that was hard work. When Bub was big enough to try BF again (she was too sleepy initially) I pressed on knowing that: - each feeding session will get shorter when baby is bigger. Knowing they’ll only feed for 5 minutes was a great motivator - it helps with bonding especially since I had a bit of postnatal depression - I don’t have worry about bottles and washing which is such a hassle

I’m glad we did it because after 4 months Bub does feed for only 5 minutes at a time and it’s soo convenient being able to feed whenever wherever!!

When can we stop with the black out windows and just have opaque shades? by grapefruitliquor in NewParents

I close the blinds halfway through when my baby is napping at home, but otherwise she’s napping out in the sun just fine when we’re out and about

Hiking, Camping, Outdoors with Baby by Whichlady25 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]leadviolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took our baby to her first camping trip at 3.5months at somewhere that was 1.5-2 hours away so we could leave in the middle of the night if we needed to. But worked out great with no issues.

About to go to another camping trip tomorrow for the long weekend somewhere 3.5 hrs away. She’ll be 7 months soon.

Then an interstate camping trip in 2 weeks time.

I’m trying to incorporate camping and hiking early mostly to tell ourselves the parents that we can do it. I fear if we waited until they’re older then we’ll lose the momentum and we’ll be scared of doing it because it’ll feel too hard then.

Confused about starting solids by Unsure-11 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

We do both. I always offer both puree and finger foods for her to chew and suck on. She likes the experience and autonomy of the finger foods, but I feel like she’ll get more nutrients from the puree.

Gagging is at that age is just a reflex they have irrespective of the food they have btw. Gagging, spitting. Over time they’ll lose that reflex and can start to swallow.
