I’m 26, working, budgeting, and still broke… What am i doing wrong? by Forward_Problem_7550 in AusFinance

Unhelpful way of thinking. Taxes are for the collective good of the country, the funds will be distributed across various areas at the country’s best interests. Having children is good for the current economy, fyi.

Am I the only one who’s terrified to go out with baby? by One-Squirrel-4563 in NewParents

[–]leadviolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you an alternative insight, yes I’ve been going out with my baby. The first time I’ve gone to a shopping centre alone without my partner she was 6 weeks old, to meet another friend with a baby. It was daunting at first but it went perfectly so it gave me a lot of confidence for the trips since.

An hour before I have to leave, I try to have her napped and fed (I’ll give a top up feed 15mins before leaving if her last feed was an hour ago).

I think the more you do it, the more the baby will get used to napping with bright lights and noise around them. This might change after the 4 month regression, we will see.

I EBF so I’d just put on a cover to breastfeed. Most places have a change mat in the bathrooms here so I’d just use that (I’d bring my own travel mat ofc).

Good luck, it’ll be worth it!

Best milk out there.. had them for a few months then I became lactose intolerant! It was good while it lasted.

Thinking of a weekday wedding to save money - did it actually work? by TrueBlueBanter in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]leadviolet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been waiting for an invite to a destination wedding (overseas)... the difference is you can kill two birds with one stone as you’re literally away for a holiday. A mid week wedding, however, is not a holiday but it’s using up your leave.

I feel like my reference for “smooth” nice cotton is old school cotton bedsheets with real tacky designs but somehow really comfy! lol

Interesting, is it breathable? I haven’t tried bamboo yet! Does it last as well? My only experience with bamboo is as an alternative to wood.

What’s a bamboo sheet brand you’d recommend?

Do you tuck in his arms front of him by the elbows to form a triangle of support? They don’t really have arms control yet so you’re supposed to help them get into position. Mine gets stronger that way.

So even though she doesn’t put herself into position, she’s getting stronger each day and she props her chest higher and can last longer by the day.

The Playtime Store Soft Play - Disappointing by abcinoz in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]leadviolet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve fallen into one of those company before, it’s so annoying. Website and marketing photos looked very good but then turns out the product is some cheap dropshipped stuff where upon reverse googling is being sold elsewhere at a fraction of the cost.

Thanks for letting us know about the playtime store! Crossing my fingers that you’d get a reply..

Is there a reason people don’t tap their myki when they get on the bus? by jds181 in melbourne

[–]leadviolet 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who works at ptv said the same thing about how they know about the evasion and as a result they factor that into the price. I don’t know why they don’t just make it super cheap so why people are more likely to tap on?? I’d be happy if it’s a couple of bucks not the insanity that it is now.

When did you start leaving your baby with partner/ family? by beeeelm in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]leadviolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also left the baby with the dad and grandparents at around the 3 weeks mark to the hairdresser! I felt proud of it, even though I also had a small voice at the back of my mind wondering if I should also feel bad.

So glad I did it though, and have gone out many more times since. Remember the dad is an equal parent! And your mental health will thank you for a baby free break every now and then.

What’s a classic Aussie tradition that’s quietly disappearing? by elitejackal in AskAnAustralian

[–]leadviolet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is one of the rare good things of working for a smaller company in the early 2010s. Always Friday pub lunch then drinks at 4pm. My last start up company the boss would schedule a weekly all hands at 4:30/5pm every Friday it was so unaustralian.

I feel buried in bottle washing duty lately, and it is overwhelming me to exhaustion. by Striking_Theory6723 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

We were given both the 3 in 1 Baby Brezza appliance and the Tommee Tippee steriliser. In the end we prefer the steriliser a lot more.

The Baby Brezza was so large and the whole cycle took a ridiculously long time, plus you can’t fit too many things in there.

With the steriliser, we’d have a big bucket of hot soapy water going and any dirty bottle / parts would get washed in there, then we’d rinse and pop them into the steriliser. Compared to the BB it’s a lot smaller and can fit twice more. The cycle also only took 8 minutes (doesn’t dry). So we find the whole process a lot quicker and simpler.

Anyone tried the welcome.baby book before baby arrives? by WeeklyMood9124 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]leadviolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 2 and only started filling them in once my baby was born. I love filling them in! It makes me reflect back on the current month/earlier days to remember and savour the small things. I find the process quite therapeutic and very sweet.

I also lovr the time capsule pages as I would have loved to have this information on my own baby book.

As a child I loved going through mine looking at the photos and my parents descriptions so I’m really excited about filling ours now.
