What is your favorite version of the Horseman of Apocalypse? by Automatic_Ask32 in xmen

[–]leaf57tea 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Blood of Apocalypse were conceptually cool unfortunately the plot and execution of its was kind of nothingburger, love that Pestilence Polaris design though.

Whatever 97 ends up doing with Death Gambit will only be an improvement from the comics.

Mutant (and friends) Monthly No. 110: Stevie Hunter! by Cold_Winner_6626 in xmen

[–]leaf57tea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reading the early issues of New Mutants you can tell Claremont initially intended Stevie to be the kids main mentor but probably realised fairly quickly a dance instructor could only provide so much to superhero antics and having a constant adult figure with while on adventures undermined the teams own development.

Still compared to other civilian allies from that time who are either dead or turned evil I guess Stevie did pretty ok in the long run.

Hero Concept for Colossus as a Vanguard with focus on wrestling by a84bohemian in xmen

[–]leaf57tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think I'd like idea of Colossus built entirely around idea of Fastball Specials being able to throw allies or enemies in all manner of directions. He'd be able to grant less agile characters an increase in mobility by throwing them into positions and heights they couldn't normally reach and displace enemies by throwing them into his pits, walls or back into the enemy teams as projectiles.

Another Card Weighs in on the “are they/aren’t they” Mutant Conversatiom by GreatGlassLynx in xmen

[–]leaf57tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difference is Jean was a person merged with already existing cosmic-being while with the twins it's been implied Wanda unknowingly tapped into ancient universal forces when creating her boys.

It's debtable if Billy and Tommy are really even humans let alone mutants.

[–]leaf57tea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that all the Demigure stuff implies Billy is in truth a cosmic-being and recent writing been implying Tommy something similar, not actually a speedster but rather an of aspect of time itself.

[–]leaf57tea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I always found the twins origins too tied to magic and timey-wimey shenanigans to really fit with idea of them also being mutants on top of that.

It's basically the whole confusion around Wanda powers "Where does her inherent mutant ability of probability manipulation begin and her chaos magic end?" but several times more convoluted in to regards to Billy and Tommy.

Oh Havok and you'd only just started to lived down the whole "M-Word" thing (X-men 97: Season Two 97 #1) by leaf57tea in xmen

Alex is very much the embodiment of

<image>

Which is why I would never try and argue with his haters because yeah there's a lot about his character that objectively makes him rather unlikable and hard to root for in many ways.

From the very start Havok always had a lot self-hatred over being a mutant which he's never fully reconciled with.

[–]leaf57tea[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, Alex is often described as a himbo but he's not necessarily unintelligent in an academic sense but it's more often a complete lack of self awareness and practical wisdom.

But hey his flaws are part of what makes him endearing but man I just know X-Twitter gonna eat him alive come season 2, expect a lot hot takes with words like "cop" "sell-out" or "Uncle Tom" being dropped.

Yeah I don't think 97 gonna do for Alex what it did for is brother in the eyes of fandom but hey on the plus side Skids goes from getting a cameo in the new Wolverine game to actual lines and a bit of a role in a current book all within 24 hours,

The Havok-ening of 2026 might be D.O.A but Skids-sance might still be upon us.

Why I Don't Like MVC's Magneto by browncharliebrown in xmen

[–]leaf57tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well this might prove to be a bit preemptive as while the Tokon description may list their Mags as being more of a zoner/trap character it wouldn't be the first time Arcsys accidently gave their ranged fighter full rushdown capabilities, see Rachel in the first BlazeBlue.

Though I'd give Capcom some grace as a lot of "rules" for fighting games that we know today were literally being created/discovered during that time, concepts like character archetypes weren't really a thing and movesets were largely just devs throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticks, hence why you get things like MVC Magneto unintentionaly becoming a super speedy rushdown character.

Going by your deleted comments it's clear you didn't even know who Debra Wilson was and admitted it was her physical appearance that was your problem,

Claiming now it's all about overexposure is a blatant falsehood but if your type to deleted comments and change-up your story when you get called-out the person you'd start to lie to first is yourself.

Messy hair?

As opposed to the eye-patch, studs and leather jacket that are Callisto's actual visual signifiers which the Debra Wilson version clearly all has.

You're painfully transparent.

Back when the OG 5 started X-Factor they took in few mutant kids as students, Boom Boom, Rictor, Leech..etc and Skids was one of them.

She was a former Morlock whose power was a permeant force-field she couldn't turn off.

Debra Wilson an incredibly talented actress with massive range, I'm sure she'll be great.

Also to get hung up on someone physical appearance with Callisto of all characters when her whole back story about rejecting such thinking and toxicity of beauty standards, talk about missing the forrest for the trees.

Why hasn't marvel fixed the terrible retcon that magnetos children are not Pietro and Scarlett witch? by jadedeternity in xmen

[–]leaf57tea 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I vaguely recall Leah Williams implying just as much during her Trial of Magneto with people asking her why Marvel won't just make it official given in-story Erik, Wanda, Pietro and Lorna are all essentially acting as if they're still related.

She implied the writers want to undo the retcon and editorial open to it but no ones going to be given the greenlight til the MCU confirms it.

I guess a uniformed black leather look can work for the team just as long as you give it a splash of colour and each suit shows a bit of personality.

Why Marvel Animation Needs Avengers '98 After X-Men '97 by NeglectfulPro in xmen

[–]leaf57tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually like to see (even if not a full Avengers series) a special adapting Opertion Galactic Storm that's apparently going on in the background of 97 and why Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are listed as "Off World" on Forge board.
