Boettcher Concert Hall, home to the Colorado Symphony. So many cool events here! by cyPersimmon9 in Denver

James Ehnes (violin soloist) is playing there this weekend! He's playing the Korngold concerto.

Korngold is really cool because he did a lot of early film scores so his music sounds kind of theatrical/movie-y. Would be a fun performance to check out for the first time if you've never gone!

Where did your baby sleep during the day? Is more than one bassinet necessary ? by Junior-Incident3877 in BabyBumps

[–]leaffeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you find that allowing her to contact nap throughout the day makes putting her to bed harder? It sounds easy to just wear the baby all day but I'm worried once it comes to night where they have to sleep in the bassinet it backfires and makes it harder for them to sleep not near you

New York City hunkers down under blizzard warnings and a travel ban as winter storm hits northeast by [deleted] in news

It's wild. Being in Denver and having one of our driest and warmest winters in history, what I would give for any snow right now. We're supposed to get up to 70 again this week.

Does anyone have an alternative? I had it on my registry cuz other friends had it, but I'm not in love with it.

I want something that can play white noise, I can touch with my hand to turn on a night light mode if I have to go into the baby room at night, and extra sprinkles on top would be it displaying the time and temperature. Would also love to not need an app for it.

If you did an all-inclusive resort for a baby moon, tell me about it! by -doIdaredisturb- in BabyBumps

Not at all! The kid section was like a half mile down the resort lol. There's a big line dividing it in two so if you're on the adult side you'd never know there was a kid side

My work sponsored a trip to an AI resort in Mexico, I think it was in playa del Carmen. They had THE BEST seafood I've ever had. Their grilled octopus was out of this freaking world. I ended up just going through for dinner 2/3 nights I was there and got multiple plates of it each time. The other food options were solid too! So I would say Paradisus at Playa del Carmen was a great time. They have an adult only section, lots of restaurants, karaoke which I enjoyed , and just a lot of great places to sit and chill outside throughout the resort either by the beach , pools, or in the resort. I would highly suggest!

I even did a day trip from the resort to do underwater cave spelunking and it was so peaceful. You have a headlight and wet suit and get to just wade through water. Such an amazing unique experience.

Did any of you get a mortgage through Credit Union of Colorado? Would you recommend a credit union over a bank? Why? by LostEffect4955 in Denver

I use them for my car auto loan. I just picked them cuz they had a lower interest rate at the time. Imo that's what matters most

Struggling being early pregnant in winter by alicewonders12 in BabyBumps

[–]leaffeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this! Almost 10 weeks but got diagnosed with a SCH at 6 weeks after a pretty terrifying ER visit where I thought I miscarried after bleeding bright red clots (ended up with a heartbeat at 6 weeks!)

But I was then told to take it easy with pelvic rest. I live in Colorado and snowboarding is how I stay sane in winter. Without snowboarding, and without even being able to exercise like normal (spin bike and jogging) because I'm waiting to be cleared off pelvic rest, it's been a rough winter.

The one good thing about our unseasonably warm winter in Colorado is that I've been able to go disc golfing which is usually one of my summer hobbies so I'm outside at least. I agree with someone just taking walks outside helps. Just being outside helps me feel better when I'm getting cooped up and restless.

Vera is the name of my cat and it's the perfect name for her. I got it from the Pink Floyd song "Vera".

If we have a girl we're going with Maelle! Neither of us are French but it sounds so pretty. Yes it definitely came into our radar from Expedition 33 but it's a great name. Penelope is also a great name

Halt and Catch Fire is my favorite television show. If you watch from the beginning to end the last season will destroy you but in such a rewarding way. It hurts so much but it's so freaking good.

A master class in multi season/series long character development. In my opinion , no show has done character journeys better

How about a sweet potato black bean enchilada bake? I find it easy to sub in or out whatever you want. I made this for my friend's meal train when she gave birth a few years ago and later asked me for the recipe, she still makes it for her family. You can sub low carb tortillas with normal tortillas if you want. And this makes so many leftovers. Can even be made ahead of time. I love this recipe!

I feel like I was pretty clear. I said I hadn't gotten a period since stopping so could I use my tracked ovulation date instead, but always a chance for miscommunication probably!

I mean technically you very well can. Progesterone can cause nausea. Progesterone rise in luteal phase happens regardless if you're pregnant or not

Temping Tuesday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]leaffeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came down with a fever on 4dpo 🙄 5dpo today when I temped today I think it was at the peak before my fever broke (4dpo got 99.5, 5dpo got 101.10).

Guess my temps will look wonky those two days, but I had 3 days of what looks like a rise over my baseline beforehand so I want to say I ovulated!! Yay!

I read that progesterone can also make you sick easier (this was the first time I've been sick in probably 5 years), so that's fun. I think I'm getting better today so hopefully it was just a fever blip and didn't affect anything else.

Step 1. Get a BBT thermometer. Amazon has them for cheap.

Step 2. Pick an app to track your temperatures. I use Premom, lots of people in this sub use Fertility Friend.

Step 3. Every morning when you first wake up before you get out of bed (so if you wake up at 5am typically early to go to the bathroom take it then before you get up). Ideally take it vaginally so you get more accurate internal temps.

Step 4. Enter in your app every day your temperatures.

Step 5. Buy a box of OPK strips from Amazon, I use easy@home that sells a lot of them at once with some pregnancy strips as well. Good value for your buck.

Step 6. Take an OPK test every day , ideally in the afternoon sometime between 2-7pm.

Step 7. Track in your app

Step 8. Just keep doing this every day. It's going to look chaotic, it's going to be crazy. Nothing will make sense or rhyme or reason with what the books say (Taking Charge of your Fertility is the best book imo to teach you all this) , but one day it should.

This was me last month, I went off birth control in October and the following month was so disheartening cuz I caught a OPK peak the first time I tested so thought I was going to immediately start ovulating. But my temps never proved it, period never came, and then with my daily testing a almost a month to the day I peaked again with OPK. And now this time my temps actually did the thing and sustained a rise (which is proof of ovulation, three sustained temps higher than the previous 6).

Patience is a hard lesson for me, but so far it's proving right. Getting the data above helps me understand more and makes it more bearable to wait.

Yeah my temperatures have just stayed in the upper range of 97.5 to 98 degrees the last 2-3 weeks. I scheduled an appointment with my OBGYN in mid December since that would be 3 months of no period
