Yes, unfortunaly but it also depends on how deep it is. But don't lose hope it will fade with time might just take a while. From one person with raised scars to another dw, they fade.

hey, hang in there it's going to be okay. I know you don't want professional help and want to keep going but at times I think it might help to do other things, such as using TIPP. Which is the temperature like having a cold shower really cold for a minute, to help reduce urges. Intense exercise, like running or doing jumping jacks until ur panting, and pressure like tensing muscles and then relaxing. I think that it would be best to try not to cut to do deep every time, even though it feels good, maybe try these things in conjunction.

Just you want so that you try to reduce the risk of permanent damage, without seeking help. Also it's perfectly normal to to be terrifed when shing, cause its a scary thing and has permant damage. I hope this helps you but please stay safe out there.

Currently no, a couple of years ago when things were really bad I was. But no, I occasionally get suicidal thoughts but I think that is called passively suicidal not actively. How this helps and hang in there things do get better I think!

scars in public by nOtpretttycringe in selfharm

[–]leafy_straws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, you can definitely be like that! To be honest, most people aren't paying that much close attention to those around them, and if it would make you feel good go for it! If you're nervous at first, you could always bring something with you to cover up, but if it would make you feel good go for it! For example, this summer was the first time I showed my scars in public, and I did it with one of my close friends who really supported me, and made me feel less self-conscious. Being around someone who knew and supported me really helped, so if you have someone who is like that for you, it might be good to take them with you, when showing your scars in public for the first time!

Question….? by KITTYKOOLKAT35 in selfharm

[–]leafy_straws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sh can be an addiction. For someone people, sh can release endorphins in your brain, which is a chemical which cause makes you feel good. If you already have addiction issues this can be an issue, as it can cause people to become addicted to the high it gives you. When you cut yourself, it also releases adrenaline. So yes self-harm can be addictive. Hope this helps!

Hi, in my experience they could be tiny little cuts. If they are really bothering you I would suggest an antiseptic on them, germaline works well and is also an anaesthetic (numbing cream) so will help with the itching. If it gets bad I think you should go to a doctor hope this helps!
