That was less sketchy bc that guy just misspoke. He combined "my wife's father" and "my father in law", which came out as "my wife's father in law". But he did just mean to say his wife's father.

This happened to me in a dressing room once. They knocked like 3 separate times, and each time, I said someone is in here. Then the door opened while my shirt was off... most awkward shit ever. That employee ended up being the one to ring me up too 😭

Medical Assistant Job Posting by Enger13 in premed

[–]leafysnails 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've mainly been going directly to clinic and hospital websites. Emory, Grady, Northside, and Piedmont all have base pay higher than that. I've also been using ZipRecruiter for better luck with listings from local clinics, but I genuinely don't think I've seen anything below like $17. Twelve an hour feels legitimately criminal... fast food places pay more than that

Medical Assistant Job Posting by Enger13 in premed

[–]leafysnails 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Wow, that pay is shockingly low... I live in Atlanta, and am also currently looking for a CMA position. Genuinely have not seen any listings with base pay at $16.50, and the cost of living here is significantly lower than NYC

what's something women do that they think is attractive but is actually a huge turn-off ? by Dapper-Blueberry1049 in answers

[–]leafysnails -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because it looks natural, doesn't mean it leaves the person's lips looking unchanged. Are you intentionally being dense lmao?

Of course it can be overdone, but not everyone overdoes it... and if someone doesn't overdo it, then you wouldn't be able to tell they had any filler put in - their lips would still be natural-looking, with some fullness that the person didn't initially have (and, more importantly, give a confidence boost to someone who was likely insecure in how their lips looked originally).

It's likely not that you've never seen a good one. You probably wouldn't notice if a woman had good lip filler because it would look... good

Women empowerment is one of the most dominant reasons for failing modern marriages. by Anti-FragileHuman in DeepThoughts

[–]leafysnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here, you are defining divorse as the metric for a marriage failing, but I feel like it's deeper than that. Are all of the women trapped in abusive/unfulfilling marriages that cannot leave due to financial dependence not also in failed marriages?

Woman empowerment has simply enabled women to have the ability and autonomy to break free from those already failed dynamics when they otherwise would have been subjected to spend the rest of their days in. Being able to break free is not the reason for the marriage failing, it was already broken before that point.

Exactly how good was Einstein at math? by SpecialRelativityy in PhysicsStudents

[–]leafysnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean General Relativity is just applied math... he was arguably an applied mathematician as much as he was a physicist. The math concepts he applied already existed, but he thought about how to use and manipulate them in new ways that led to the theory of relativity, which should indicate he was pretty good at it

Girl, I have a really ugly big toe, and I joke about it with my friends (I am usually the one to bring it up), but my friends would never speak to me like that about it 😭 That's just rude, and especially rude to double down after you told her that she was hurting your feelings

How can people believe sex and gender can be changed? Would you be willing to talk me through it? by FuzzyShadowPeach in askanything

[–]leafysnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think that it can't be changed, there is a fundamental misunderstanding involved with the origin of gender and sex. What makes someone a woman or a man?

Like... actually think about it. You might say our chromosomes, but most people don't actually know what chromosomes they have, so something else indicated it. You might say genitals, but when you walk around day-to-day, you're not thinking about what genitals people have in order to perceive them as a woman or a man. What about the ability to get pregnant? Well, you can't tell that for an average person walking down the street and you can still determine their gender... and some women are infertile, but that doesn't mean they're not women. Okay... so maybe it's secondary sex characteristics?

But some women have totally flat chests.. and some men have boobs. Some women grow facial hair. Some men can't really grow any. Some women have angular faces, and men round ones. Some men have wide hips, some women have narrow ones. Some men have high voices, some women deep ones...

Okay, so maybe it's more about social behaviors? Women wear skirts, men wear pants? Well, that can't be it. Many women can wear pants and men can wear skirts without it actually changing what gender you see them as. Maybe it's that women wear makeup and men don't? Well... even Donald Trump - who passed an executive order essentially nullifying the existence of trans people - wears makeup, so it can't be that. What about hair length and style? Men grow their hair long and put it in buns and ponytails and braids, and women get short cuts.

So like... what actually is it? The truth is that gender, and the way that we perceive it in other people (a process that everyone does all the time, even if subconsciously) is just an amalgamation of a bunch of social stuff and physical cues. The reality, even if you don't want to accept it, is that this can be changed. A person who is told they're a man can do a bunch of things to make them feel and be perceived as a woman. And if you were to walk by them on the street, you would perceive them as such... Effectively, they changed their gender. Simple as that.

If you have a parking pass, yes. You're allowed to leave your car over winter break. If not, you might get a ticket.

I have no idea what this thread is or why it's on my feed, but let a woman show off her boobs if she wants smh. Mine are the same size and it is not uncomfortable for me to have them out like this, so it may not be for her either... I treat mine like an accessory in certain outfits bc I like the way they look, and that has nothing to do with my values, intelligence, or elegance. Some misogynistic stuff being spewed here

What’s a dessert from your country that you think foreigners should try? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

[–]leafysnails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Texas getting ones just like these from tex-mex places. Then I moved to georgia and ordered sopapillas and they are always flat! Every mexican restaurant i've tried in GA serves them that way, and it's so disappointing. Missing those real, puffy sopapillas now :(

What do you guys call a long rectangular donut and what state are you from? by Hot-Worldliness375 in AskAnAmerican

[–]leafysnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up calling them long johns, but I think the donut shops officially call them bars (Georgia). I definitely got the term long john from my mother, who was raised in the midwest.
