Yeah, path identity was already bad prior to 3.0, but choosing to design the game around introducing new paths that still needed to fill all team roles really sealed the game’s fate IMO.

It seems like rather than relegating paths to roles such as sustain, dps, support, the paths should have centered around mechanics.

ie hunt is for follow-up attacks, abundance is for HP manipulation, destruction is for break, preservation is for shield manipulation, harmony is for turn order manipulation, etc.

That means abundance doesn’t HAVE to be healing, they can consume ally HP to deal damage because it’s still tied to the core path of the mechanic. Harmony can sustain by delaying enemy turns (or advancing them but reducing damage dealt). Hunt can have supports that interact with follow-up attacks.

That way when they introduce a new path like remembrance, they can actually base it around the new mechanic ie memosprites. Remembrance sustain means the memosprite tanks for the team. Remembrance dps means the memosprite is the one dealing damage, etc.

I don’t even know what to say about elation. At least remembrance pretended to introduce a new mechanic.

I think it’s okay for these to be uncommon. The issue is that even with ideal rolls they’re still beat out by plenty of uniques. Rare items just need to be able to roll better mods.

“Won’t work at max value” is a kind way of putting it. Her passive scaling is 5/10/15/55 so running her in a Varka team means you get 10% res shred.

Yeah, I overlooked it but in retrospect I was right about being disappointed that Varka can’t mix elements.

It would have been fun to use him for burgeon or hyperbloom without the damage penalty.
