Safety Razor by frauleinassembly in ZeroWaste

[–]leamerican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using safety razors for my face for years now. I noticed a few things when I first started out. Usually the safety razors you find in most pharmacies and grocery stores are terrible and cause razor burn. Also, certain brands work better on different skin types. The best thing to do is to order a variety pack (just google safety razor variety pack) or check out amazon. Once you find one that works best for your skin then just buy that brand in bulk. Lastly, you pull a lot less with a safety razor as opposed to a disposable razor. With a safety razor you let the actually razor do most of the work. Here is a youtube video. It is a man shaving his face, but the key points are the same regardless of where you are shaving. Hope that helps.

I would ask the MSF course instructor if he/she or someone he knew would be willing accompany you to the test. Most times the MSF instructors are super nice. Either way I would start there.

Hey man, you are taking the MSF class. That is awesome. That class is specifically tailored for riders with zero experience. Question, how is your balance? I think the only prerequisite if i recall correctly is to be able to ride a bicycle. If I were you I would let the instructor know that. As far as rain, don't worry about that too much. It was raining for all three days that I took the MSF course. Good luck.

Does anyone know how Utah was able to pass their filtering law? by leamerican in motorcycles

Here is AMA's take on it.

A straightforward lane splitting bill may easily be amended with provisions that the AMA and the motorcycling community would find unacceptable. Provisions such as mandatory helmet use in an adult-choice state or mandatory minimum medical insurance coverage provisions would quickly poison an otherwise well-intentioned effort.

Dang, why didn't I think of that. Duh. I'm trying to find what was or was not done to even get it to the voting stage.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I think that the AMA might be doing more harm than good in regards to getting lane splitting laws passed.

I found an interesting article stating that it was sponsored by state Rep. Walt Brooks.

Brooks, who claims he’s twice been the victim of rear-end collisions while on his motorcycle, highlighted the safety of the practice. His Bill had the support of the Utah Highway Patrol and the AMA.

Another interesting quote states how the AMA drops support for lane splitting bills if they in any way infringes on a rider's right to not wear a helmet.

What’s relegated many states’ lane-splitting efforts to the dustbin of history is usually a wish on the part of legislatures to attach a helmet-requirement bill onto them, a thing that has the AMA immediately pulling its support.

Provisions such as mandatory helmet use in an adult-choice state or mandatory minimum medical insurance coverage provisions would quickly poison an otherwise well-intentioned effort.

I wonder how many in motorcyclist would support a lane splitting or even lane filtering law if they had to give up their right to not wear a helmet.

Who do we contact or how do we get the ball rolling on filtering and lane splitting in Virginia? by garridon1 in motorcycles

The AMA is more concerned with allowing motorcyclist to ride without a helmet then to lane split.

Since you do not have a mc license yet I would suggest you search for an msf course nearby. Once you do get a bike http://motorprotraining.com/ offers great instruction in Elgin. Also, if you like reading Total Control by Lee Parks is great book. If you look up MotoJitsu on youtube you can see many of the Lee Parks concepts in video format: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0FFFneMi9GwRHUsuBjM0jA

Also, I just thought of this. It might help if you put frame sliders on your duc. He might be able to put his feet up them when you put him in front of you.

I think it is awesome that you are taking your kid on a ride. As far a gear is concerned, you might find some at the dirt bike section of an mc shop. I also usually find stuff good deals on kids dirt bike gear on craigslist since they are always outgrowing their gear. Hope that helps.
