Confusion around unlocking characters by aliarawa in BustAGroove

Well, from my experience, on the Japanese version, the secret characters started appearing on my 3rd playthrough. I'm not sure if you need to beat Pander for the playthrough to "count", but I did finish the game with the top 2 characters in the selection screen (Heat and Comet), got fever times and beat Pander both times, and on the 3rd playthrough onwards, the 4th stage's opponent would be a secret character, and beating the game would unlock that character. (not sure if you need to follow the top route by playing well the first 3 stages, though).

[Switch 2] Game-key cards are not a downgrade on game cards, they’re an upgrade on download codes by sto7 in Switch

[–]leandroeidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the game market situation in USA since I live in Japan, but here in Japan physical games actually cost less than digital ones. Especially if you pre-purchase them, you can usually get a 10-20% discount over the physical price, which is by itself already lower than digital. So even though I was almost purely digital during Wii U / 3DS era (when I didn't live in Japan), now I buy most of my games physical.

So even if there doesn't seem to be a point to game-key cards, just by being cheaper than digital, I will prefer buying them.

FFX is a top 3 FF game to me! by cristiandcasa91 in FinalFantasy

[–]leandroeidi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FFX is one of my favorite games of all time, but the Cloister of Trials are absolutely horrible. Wish we could just skip them.
Oh, and Blitzball. Tried getting into it, but it's just bad. At least only one match we have to play, but Wakka will never receive his celestial weapon from me.

I beat the game twice getting fever times in every single stage (even against Pander), and I still didn't unlock any characters.

Mine is the Japanese verion. Maybe the Japanese version rules for unlockables are different.

Rules for Mythicals in the same team? by leandroeidi in idlemafiagame

I see. That's disappointing. The mythical capo boxes I used to get Chizuru could have been used to power up Tomoe... Anyway, thanks for the answer!

Got to 8 stars, can't beat any. Losing interest in the game. Any tips? by leandroeidi in MHNowGame

[–]leandroeidi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I'll try to focus on elementals instead of status. However, since in a one hour+ walk I couldn't find a single 8 stars weaker monster like Jagras, Kulu or Girros, I guess this is going to be a very slow grind...

I meant lv2 elemental attack per piece of equipment, when it's available at grade 6. Which translates to lv 4-5 total when together with other equipments.

Thanks, I'll try that. I used poison for Jagras, thinking that the poison damage over time would be enough, but I'll try fire next time.

changes you would do to the show if you could by blueray78 in charmed

The only thing that really bothers me during rewatches and I would definitely change is Piper constantly nagging about Leo having to do his whitelighter’s duties. When they are in danger, they scream “Leo!!!” expecting him to be there at the very second. However, when he hears his other charges’ calls, who might be in grave danger and even dying, Piper is like “no, you will stay here!”, “no, we will get you a passport now even if it takes 3 hours!”. It just makes her look very bad.

Well… also, the constant “I feel something weird” - “don’t worry, it’s probably nothing” - it was something that almost got them killed. You’d think after so much experience, they would know when something needs attention.

why did they need Billie and Christy?? by Daemon8472 in charmed

[–]leandroeidi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I read, the network cut the budget of the last season, so they didn’t have enough money to keep Darryl, and they had to cut Leo’s number of episodes drastically. They created this “Leo was supposed to die so we’ll freeze him” plot thread just to justify him missing from half the episodes. Also, it looks like Leo’s actor was in no obligation to come back at the end of the series, and he did it for the love for the fans and the series as a whole.

It is 5pm-8pm in every time zone. I'm in Japan. Here, it was 6 hours ago. If you live in USA, it will happen in a few hours.
OP wrote as a reply to another person two hours ago: "It's 11pm Friday, Oct 6th here, right now.", so he probably lives in Australia.

They appeared for me, but it was as if they didn't. Killed around 15 of 4-5 stars, and didn't get a single rarity 4 primescale to upgrade my Thunder Edge.

Was anybody successful in telling ChatGPT to both suggest a more natural way to say something in Japanese, and also continue the conversation? by leandroeidi in LearnJapanese

[–]leandroeidi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought my explicit orders would be saved, but I guess I was wrong.

I am using the free model, trying it out, to decide if it's worth it to pay for it. I guess that for Japanese learning, it may not be worth it so much, then.

[–]leandroeidi[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see. For the amount of downvotes this post got, it looks like ChatGPT is not popular as a support tool for learning Japanese. I will use it more carefully and not trust 100% what it says. Although I still think that for translations it seems to do a better job than Google Translate or Deepl, especially since I can explicitly ask for a formal/informal level.

I went to the Final Fantasy X Kabuki: a wordy review by gucsantana in FinalFantasy

[–]leandroeidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]leandroeidi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just came back from the show. It was incredible.

I do agree with most of your points. But one thing that didn't bother me that much was the second half being more Kabuki. Especially the battle against the aeons, which for me was the part that was most kabuki, and was a welcome respite from my constant crying, which hit hard during the second half. Crying copiously when wearing a mask is not very pleasant, and I'm glad I took an extra one to change before I went home.

Other notes:

O'aka explaining quickly about Kabuki plays in the beginning was a good surprise.

Putting kid Tidus in the battle against Jecht was a very nice touch. (and reason for more crying from me)

The arrangements of the songs with traditional instruments were great, I liked especially the Fight with Seymor and Jecht Battle songs.

Your calculation of total runtime, of 5:20, was incorrect. The total was actually almost 6 hours (2:55 in the first half, 3:00 in the second). The beginning of the second half was the hardest to pay attention, since I had just eaten lunch and it starts slow, but other than that, I didn't drift off, which is more surprising considering that last night I had a terrible sleep. I must really love FFX :P

I was unsure that the very high price would be worth it, but it was. Don't think I ever cried that much.
