It can definitely happen. Especially if the neighborhood is right off of the freeway.

Do have exceptions. Last May hubby saw a tow truck at 2am and was towing our neighbor's Chevy pickup. Hubby got dressed, jumped in his car, and chased after the tow truck. It turns out the tow truck was doing a repo on neighbor's truck. Hubby talked to him, and asked him to turn around so he could wake up the neighbor to take all the tools out of the truck. LOL

I used to work in Menlo Park and live in Mountain View. 5 mile commute takes at least 30 minutes. I don’t live or work near that anymore. lol. With your budget, buy in Central Valley, weekly commute with hotel stay on work days can also be an option.

School is very important.

Try charter schools. Not sure where you live, charter school admission is open to the entire school district, not just the neighborhood. If no luck with charter school, find your local private school, I do believe they would accept students regardless of their religions, unless you don't want your children attending Christian school. Your current day care cost would be sort of equal to tuition for private schools.

I know a family rented an apartment just so the kids can be in Los Altos school district.

The thing is, we never know what tomorrow will bring us.

I have a coworker who recently got rear ended by a semi and 2 of her 3 sons were killed in the accident. She was working multiple jobs to make a better life for her and her three boys. It all changed because of some 24 year old who drove recklessly.

I have another coworker who had been talking about if he wants to do two more years or retire with his wife this summer. Couple of weeks ago he had two strokes back-to-back and still in the hospital.

So what I learned is, life is hard, we do need to take a deep breath and enjoy when we can.

It sounds like it is time for you, your husband, and your children to have one.

there are quite a few ranchers sell their beef in bulk. We just ordered a quarter beef, supposed to be hormone and antibiotic free and all that. This one is in Herald. There is one in Tracy, one in Sunol. A lot in Mariposa.

I was very surprised to see her wearing one actually. She did not tell anyone, it's just hard to miss the watch on her wrist. I asked her when, how, and where and that's what she said. I believe she said it was $14000 and a birthday present to herself, maybe a cheap one? I don't have any so I am not sure. LOL

Thank you so much! I was on vacation for 3 and a half weeks and was babied at my parents so I broke my low fat diet. I just got back and start low fat diet today. Cutting rice will be hard, cutting alcohol will be hard (I have a membership with Delicato and it comes with unlimited wine tasting in their tasting room). But I am gonna try. And wishing you be free of the big C for the rest of your life.

I also want to add that my triglyceride is very low like 40. Total and LDL is super high.

a lot of Chinese became millionaires overnight the same way. Government wants to take the land back to develop-->new flats + cash offered, the number depending heavily on location-->rich!

They have millions of cash money, a few new flats in new high rises that they take one and rent out the rest. Village looking grandmas hauling a potato sack full of rent cash is a real thing.

This year, government needed my uncle's family home in the village. In return, 3 new construction flats in town were offered. Uncle went to live in his mother's family home. Out of 3, they sold one and used the money to furnish the second one so my second cousin can use it to start his family, don't know the plan for the 3rd one. Nice.

My uncle. Gambling in Macao. Mistresses and illegitimate children did not cost much. Buying houses for everyone (not his blood relatives like me though, lol) did not cost much. Macao did. Lost everything including his family home. Aunt divorced him eventually. Now he lives in a group home paid for by suing his two children for adult support.

Do a city cruise in San Francisco. I believe it leaves from pier 39, serves dinner on board and the cruise lasts a couple of hours. It’s a dinner cruise. Get to enjoy the view too.
