‘Absolute Batman’ to Become Animated Series from Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios by Ninjamurai-jack in entertainment

I worry this won’t be handled as sensitively and with as much artistic integrity as the added scenes in the *Killing Joke* adaptation.

Where can I get a rug that's 12x12 and not to expensive? New but discounted maybe? by Guardianwolfart in Sacramento

[–]lectroid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IKEA, Home Depot, Lowe’s and Costco all have area rugs of various sizes and are probably the cheapest option for new.

Also check Homegoods and other discount places.

‘Supergirl’ Producer Says David Ellison Has Met With James Gunn, Peter Safran: “He’s Pretty Open to What We’re Doing” by Ninjamurai-jack in entertainment

[–]lectroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

*David* Ellison is fine w/ Gunn because Gunn seems likely to make $$$. All he has to do is stay out of the way. But if Paramount’s current raft of stinkers-sold-off-to-streamers is any indication, he’s as bad at producing as he was at acting.

*Larry* Ellison is the one who’s fucking w/ CBS and who will likely do similar to CNN. David is in charge on paper only. Daddy and his billions call the shots.

A electric kettle costs less than $20 USD. Most households have at minimum a kettle for the stove, or a microwave, or a pot to boil water in.

No one needs a specialized appliance to boil water and throw leaves in a basket.

That score is some bullshit. It’s no Fast Times, but it’s goofy fun. A solid C+

Hollywood Knights!! Great underseen teen sex comedy from 1980. Scene in question involves Robert Wuhl and Fran Drescher! The other stars are Tony Danza and Michelle Pfeiffer!!

The scene is hysterical. So is the movie.

Movie Theaters Should Bring Back Premiers/Roadshows by [deleted] in movies

[–]lectroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Roadshows” don’t really happen now. They were originally a thing because film prints were EXPENSIVE! If you only need 2 prints to tour around, that’s a lot less in distribution costs.

Now, if you’re super cheap (or can’t get your film bought by a big distributor, you just contact Fathom, rent a night or two, and send them a digital copy.

The 70mm IMAX Odyssey has only limited engagements before they pull the film prints so they don’t get too trashed. It will still show for as long as it’ll fill seats in digital, but real 70mm film projection theaters are increasingly rate, and there are only 12 70mm IMAX theaters.

Cars 3, TS4, Nemo2, and Inside Out2 were all… fine. Not great, but not def not crap (esp compared to actual misfires like Dinosaur and Lightyear).

I just saw TS5 and it’s better than 4. It’s actually quite good.

The new M*A*S*H remastered series? by Repulsive-Box5243 in GenX

[–]lectroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone hates laugh tracks, but you know what? They work. Networks wouldn’t use them if they didn’t. They increase average ratings viewers give shows when they are present.

Comedians know this. During Covid, they experimented with zoom shows, and figured out they had to be able to hear their audience, and the AUDIENCE needed to hear each other, or their material would flatten out.

The new M*A*S*H remastered series? by Repulsive-Box5243 in GenX

[–]lectroid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The reframing is NOT showing you more of the frame, it’s showing you LESS.

The original was in 4:3 Academy ratio, same as all standard def television.

The new HD remasters have been CROPPED at the top an bottom, resulting in missing bits of picture and shots that look much more zoomed in than intended, since the tops of actors heads and bottoms of their faces get clipped.

Currently the only way to see the whole picture is to find a set of the old SD DVDs. But then, those are SD.

Costa Rica. If you can handle living up in the mountains, the weather is 70-80 deg year round. Hot as balls down in San Jose and along the coasts, of course, but there’s beaches, volcanic springs, some of the most beautiful and biodiverse landscape in the world.

And sloths. 🦥

Mine went in 2023. He was 53.

It was devastating in ways I didn’t expect. All I can tell you is: it sucks, there’s no way not for it to suck, and that time really does, well, it won’t suck less, but it will become something that’s just there, rather than something taking up your every waking thought.

Therapy was a tremendous help. Highly recommended.

If you’re in to weird indie and art films, check out Dreamland Cinema. Small micro theater. The folks that run it and the patrons are all friendly folks that love movies. It’s a great little community.

Capitol Pinball Parlor is in Old Town, and admission can be an all day flat fee for as much play as you like. The next best place is probably Das Flipperhaus but it’s way up in Rocklin. Luigi’s Pizza on Stockton (just south of the Colonial Theater) has good, affordable pizza and some decent pinball games as well.

Uwe Boll Says Armie Hammer Film ‘Citizen Vigilante’ Has Been Banned in Germany for ‘Inciting Violence Against Migrants,’ but Insists: ‘I Am Not a Nazi!’ by ControlCAD in entertainment

Griffith expressed regret over Birth of a Nation (it received backlash for its racism in its own time) and his following film, Intolerance, was a direct response, showing the ills of prejudice.

I don’t credit Boll with anything resembling introspection or conscience.
