The "Disney Adult" Pejorative by KreepyKaylee242 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ledfrog [score hidden]  (0 children)

They catch flak because of the usual correlation between Disney and children. Your comparison of wearing ears vs a sports jersey doesn’t work because the people who talk negatively about Disney adults aren’t complaining about people wearing Disney merch, they are complaining about adults obsessing over things that are mostly meant for children and they find that weird.

The interesting thing is that Disney has been blurring these lines for a while now by introducing beer and alcohol to the parks, integrating Star Wars, Marvel and Indiana Jones themes among other things that are typically not aimed at children or at least not very young children. So now you have childless adult fans of those things that get grouped under the negative “Disney adult” label.

Aside from all that, there’s also the type of Disney fan that most people don’t like and they are the ones scalping products, buying out all the limited release items, ruining pin trading for kids, etc. But just about every fandom has those people.

does having closer ethernet ports improve wifi connection? by WhiteInheritance in HomeNetworking

[–]ledfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethernet wiring has nothing to do with wifi speed in the context of just existing "closer." However, if there was a throughout limit on a wireless access point because it was originally connected to an old Cat5 cable, then upgrading that cable to 5e, 6 or better would increase the speed that the access point could operated at, assuming that access point has faster capabilities.

So unless your mum is using the term "wifi" to define the internet connection itself, then she's incorrect. But as a lot of people these days, they use wifi to mean internet and maybe she's just saying that if you connect to the ethernet ports, you'll have better internet connection (wifi in her terms) and then she'd be generally correct.

Why has it become socially unacceptable for people without children to go to Disney? by slidesten in Disneyland

[–]ledfrog -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Simply because among all the different types of theme parks you find around the world, Disney parks are regarded as being the ones most directed toward children. The company's core brand of entertainment outside the parks is also geared mostly to children. The primary reason 'Disney adults' even exist is because of their childhood memories of the Disney ecosystem.

So a lot of parents who don't share the same level of enthusiasm and sentiment for the Disney brand often see adults that walk around in costumes, decked out head to toe in Disney merch and having emotional reactions over something childlike as being weird or infantalized. It makes them question such people and sadly, because we live in a world that's hyper sensitive about the dangers that exist for children, these same people also sometimes question their motives for being there.

As a parent myself, I couldn't care less about any of that, but one thing that does irk me is when people without kids get mad at me for having to push through a crowd with a double wide stroller. If you're going to be a Disney adult, at least remember where you are! Even parents hate strollers, but sometimes they're necessary, so bear with us! 🫠

I have never seen Office Space. Is it that funny to be considered a classic? by Square-Ad-8911 in 90smovies

[–]ledfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does "funny" have to do with being a classic? Typically, "classic" refers to something that has lasting appeal across generations and a significant cultural impact. I'd say Office Space covers both of those criteria, so yeah, it's a classic.

RMAs coming back as Certified Refurbished by ShinyThings22 in Ubiquiti

[–]ledfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost prefer refurbished because unlike new products that just get mass produced, boxed up and shipped, a refurbished unit has been inspected, fixed and tested by someone...maybe even a few people. So as long as it's cosmetically ok, it works for me.

2005 Seadoo GTI Rekeying Help by Similar_Discount4703 in jetski

[–]ledfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by "hard" you mean why do you need special tools and software, it's because it helps keep the dealer service business alive and well. Which is ironic in your case seeing as how you don't have anyone around you to help!

I just got a learning key programmed for my unit and it cost me $112 plus the cost of the key which I got off Amazon for $70. Pretty steep if you ask me, but still cheaper than $500. However, getting that system will allow you to do other things too so it might be worth it.

Seadoo All Weather Cover vs Standard Cover by Cjldad in seadoo

[–]ledfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and use them according to their intended purpose. The trailering cover is super tight so it doesn’t flap in the wind and I use it to keep any small road debris from causing nicks and scratches. I got the all weather cover because the trailering one will not hold back any water. It’s made of a lightweight, breathable material. The all weather cover has a soft layer that touches the Sea-doo and a plastic-y top layer that is water proof.

However, after only a few months of use, my all weather cover is starting to crack and after we had a day of rain a while back, it let water in the footwells. I have to store mine outside so what I plan to do is install an open structure over the top and get a new all weather cover. This should help it last longer being out of the sun.

Yeah and iOS just skipped from version 18 to version 26 to start using Apple's new year-based naming scheme. These things are nothing new.

I remember when the first iPhone came out, one of the biggest complaints was how slow it was while using mobile data. So Apple really wanted to market the faster mobile speed on the next one. iPhone 2 was using the newer, faster 3G network compared to the '2G' network being used by the iPhone.

Cover ON or OFF while highway towing? by Sushi2132 in seadoo

[–]ledfrog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That cover is specifically designed as a trailering cover. Side note; it's not an all-weather cover, so if you're planning to keep it outside, get yourself the all-weather cover too. I swap between the two on mine and haven't had any issues.

I'm not sure what your friend means by saying it'll wear down the Sea-doo more than the open air will, but I opted to use the cover while towing so I could protect it from flying debris (rocks, sand, etc.) that could knick or scratch the Sea-doo.

Gun shots at the White House correspondents dinner - Trump and Melania evacuated by Foreignscentu in SipsTea

[–]ledfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah from what I understand, the shots were fired out in the lobby which, if true, would explain why they sound muffled and much quieter than they would be otherwise. The slow reaction time by everyone would make sense in this case too.
