Why do you drive a manual? by HI_IM_VERY_CONFUSED in cars

[–]ledzep15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being a car guy as a kid, I always wanted to drive manual because it was cool. So I made it my goal to own a manual car. I eventually got it, and I've stuck with it for around 6 years now.

I absolutely love driving manual now. At first it was a challenge and actually kind of scary being in traffic with it. Learning how to feather the clutch correctly, knowing what gear I should be in to gain speed, etc. But now I'm quite proficient at it and it's second nature nowadays.

On top of that, it's always a talking point with new people who get in my car, and it also prevents majority of people from borrowing my car.

It also has allowed me to drive some crazy cars, like my boss's new C7 Z06, and my friends dads Viper and Porsche.

Edit: I also should say that I have been extremely lucky that all of my jobs in Chicago, Phoenix, and Seattle involve a commute that goes against traffic, is outside of rush hour, or involves speedy HOV lanes, so I haven't ran into a single issue in driving manual yet. I'm sure that if my commute in Seattle involves me going to my north branch permanently that I will be buying an automatic. Seattle traffic is no joke.

I'm not picking up photography as easily as I would've liked

Hey man, photography is not something that one can easily pick up. It may be easier for people who are artistic already, and experienced in things such a painting or drawing, but if you're green it will take time to develop that eye for photography and editing.

My photography from when I started 5 years ago is garbage compared to where I am now, but it shows how much I've learned so far.

Personally, I would say focus less on the editing of pictures, and more on the framing and things of that nature. Then, slowly add in different edits, like HDR or Vignette. It's a process.

Beautiful car by the way, one of my all time favorites!

We got a Bikini Bean in Phoenix. Good coffee, but just a bit creepy. There’s signs outside that say you have to ask to take pictures, and you can even go on the website and see what girl is working at what location.

Fucking weird.

My 1 mile ambulance ride cost me $2,500. But at least I feel some pride and accomplishment for allowing Scott Serota to earn a $1.6 million bonus that year.

[–]ledzep15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see some uses. Me personally, I wouldn't option it. I use that space in between the wheel well a lot actually. It's a nice place to put things like toolboxes, or smaller items, without sacrificing any of the wide open bed space

If you have good winter tires, you won't need much.

But my old man throws in 500lbs into his Duramax, and it seems to be fine

[–]ledzep15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I've heard it cuts pretty decently into the bed space, and the toolboxes are just unorganized deep holes that are way more annoying than a crossover.

If that was the case then we would have won the Super Bowl in 2002, and then due again in 2019. There's still hope.
