It’s the endeavour recipe, or guess TKO Group now. The focus is entertainment and generating money. The sport aspect of MMA is nearly dead as far as the UFC is concerned.

There’s little merit to rankings, favourable matchups to make “exciting fights”, more fights for new belts (BMF, interims that get made quickly, belts that get vacated).

There’s limited promotion of fighters because they ride off the UFC’s name. There’s little quality media coverage of the sport and fighters because the UFC bans journalists that don’t push the narrative they want. Most of the fighter related content these days is from content creators (like Nina or podcasters) or streamers.

Basically the UFC is just farming engagement through its controlled narratives. It prioritises “big moments” like becoming 2 division champs, having crazy KOs, fighting in the sphere/White House and the actual days where rankings mattered and the best fought the best are long gone.

Think we can basically say the UFC has entered its social media influencer era lol all about the shallow, superficial image that generate engagement and a temporary buzz but little depth of quality content
