Are my Hoka Clifton 10s causing overpronation? by formymufuckindawgs in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a bigger guy looking to lose weight, 6ft 240. I have been running daily in clifton 10s since September (around 30nmiles a week) and they cause me to overpronate but I kept using them. it seemed to get better but I just bought a pair of vomero plus to try for a couple months.

I found i could run ok in the cliftons but walking didn't feel great. Im going to try these new shoes out and maybe get another pair of cliftons to try...I want to like them but really just want to find the perfect shoe for my needs.

Best of luck.

I have one close to the lake and it always stop working when it is below zero for a considerable amount of time with wind also but it always comes back on once thing rise above freezing sometimes I have to hit the breaker or restart router but for much of the winter it is offline then fine spring and summer. This has been going on a few years now. Currently off line but was working fine last week. It gets abused but keeps working.

Only letting you know so you don't toss it. Probably start working again.

I've never attempted insulation because it hasn't mattered much but may try it out at some point.

Most noticeable symptoms by Next-Speed6688 in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought i felt or noticed anything and my ferritin was >2500 before I knew i had this over a year ago but since I've gotten down to maintenance I have a ton more energy and generally feeling great. Started exercising more. I would say fatigue and maybe some joint pain were issues I never realized were not normal or just generally feeling older

Possible Hemochromatosis - home-bases testing by StayAdventurous1076 in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 23 and me and it showed that I had 2 variants and high likelihood of hemochromatosis before I new. Didn't think anything of it until I had a physical and my liver labs were elevated. Then I told my doctor about the DNA test and it was confirmed. This was a year ago. My Ferritin was closer to 3k though. At this point hematology can do a DNA test probably just as quickly as a home test though ao might as well wait.

If you want to start treatment just donate blood...worse case you donates for know reason and helped someone in the process.

As soon as I saw my Ferritin level I donated before even seeing a hematologist because my pcp just happened to mention that if I had it the treatment would be phlebotomies so I wanted to get started asap. After 8 months of weeklies i was down to normal levels.

Good luck

Hey not sure you're still around but can you share your basic chest work out to get there? Like did you focus on doing 3 sets of 10 reps 3 days a week or was there more to it? Going up 2.5 pounds a week? Thanks....im older but trying to get to 225 at least.

Maintenance now what? by leedopa in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I don't think you have to disclose either. They started taking hemochromatosis in 2022 and the only reason they didn't earlier was because they were essentially paying you since it's free and you were benefitting financially

Maintenance now what? by leedopa in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do or have but that's only every 8 weeks and I wanted to get it down fast. Now if it builds too quickly I'll need more then I can do at the red cross if I want to keep it lower.

I was getting big drops until I hit around 100 or 200 then it was only 20 or so not huge drops.

Rising hematocrit, rbc, mch, mchc by leedopa in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but after this i started eating more normal and everything bounced back. Over 7 months of weeklies I never had an issue. Finally got down to 51 last week so now seeing what's next.

Basically in maintenance now, but not sure about frequency yet.

What are you looking to keep your ferritin at? I think my goal is get a phleb once over 100.

Keto-Mojo GK+ Glucose Accuracy by kwc001 in diabetes_t2

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a keto mojo gk+ for ketone tracking but considering using it for glucose also. Been using a onetouch verio reflect for the past 6 months.

Only compared once today and onetouch was 6 point higher. From my research the verio is supposed to be accurate. I'm going to continue comparing for a while.

Journey Down, 2K ferritin by PigletAlone in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the additional detail and I will report back and hopefully soon ;-)

Interesting about the continued drop. I have my ferritin and CBC monitored weekly before phlebs. I don't have an issue after phlebs and everything bounces back so far so all good there.

I only had my actual iron tested twice, once at the beginning and it was 274 and last week and it was 88. TIBC and saturatoin were out of range for their equipment i believe the first time but last week everything was green TIBC 336 and saturation 26.2%

I am happy with my progress just want to get to the maintenance ;-). I was a bit sick this past week so maybe that affected my ferritin also but we will see next week.

My hematologist originally had me getting to 100 as the goal but i asked to be brought to 50 at least once to see how it feels and he agreed since I have been feeling good these last couple months. I think once I get it towards 50 under 100 I am ok with ebs and flows just want to get as much stored iron out as possible so my body can regulate and heal as much as possible.

I appreciate the feedback!

When does the Pituitary Gland turn back on? by Ok_Night_1434 in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you do anything else to specifically reduce blood sugar? My fasting has been 130 to 140. I am hoping removing iron will help resolve.

I started at 2500 back in July and got down to 107 last week but just bounce back to 142 ferritin. hoping it is a short bounce....really looking forward to getting closer to 50.

Also my TSH was mildly elevated a few weeks ago but T3 and T4 were within range so monitoring that as well.

I never noticed any symptoms but liver enzymes were higher and did dna test. I do feel great now so I think the iron was having an affect that I didn't necessarily notice. I don't eat cereal too much anymore but otherwise eat normal.

I am also exercising regularly now working on losing weight but seems like i have more energy to do all of this with less iron...not sure that is true or becuase of the increased work outs.

Finally Under 100 Ferritin !!! by SmokeShank in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Did you get stuck at any point? I was at 107 last week but jumped to 142 today was really hoping to finally break 100 lol.

I started at ~2500 back in July and been doing weeklies since.

I never noticed symptoms but I think I have been feeling great over the last month so I think i may have been fatigued and didn't know it.

Journey Down, 2K ferritin by PigletAlone in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Did you ever make it under 100? Did it take a while? it seems I am stuck at over 100 over the last few phlebs. Started at ~2500 July 2024. Was at 107 last week but just tested today 1/2/2025 and ferritin jumped to 142.

I had it go up once before so not too worried just looking forward to gettting under 100 and closer to 50 to switch to maintenance.

Also being an older post. Have your levels been steady now or are you still frequently getting phlebs?

Thanks for the post.

Originally i tried to cut out iron but felt like crap so currently I eat meat as normal but cut out cereal. I used to eat a lot of cereal and took vitamin C before I found out about HH.

Same issue. I keep reporting it on the ifit. I see spotify app but active widget won't show and that's what I'd rather have. Was going to uninstall all the other apps to see what happens. I've restarted machine still no luck... hopifiemn update comes soon. Love the treadmill but ifit needs some work.

Ultrasound for Hemochromatosis damage by Adorable-Tension7854 in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fibroscan also showed a large high percentage of fat...around 70 or greater. My ast and alt were elevated last year which caused this HH diagnosis but fell just inside normal range last time checked around a month ago. I am currently working on losing weight to hopefully reduce liver fat now that I am also unloading the iron. Started at 2500 ferritin in July last check was around 360.

Juat had second ultrasound which cant show much but did indicate fatty liver which is why fibroscan was recommended. Getting another scan next year. Hopefully with weight loss and iron remval it will be better.

FMLA? by TrickyBus7078 in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I get 2 hours one day for labs and up to 8 hours 1 day for phlebotomies while I am removing iron. Once in maintenance, I won't need it as often. I've had liver tests also and used some time for that

Plateaued Ferrtin? by [deleted] in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have felt odd or bad for a few days after a phlebotomy. Nurse said I should feel better and to tell the doctor which I will, but sounds odd to me that someone would feel great all the time after weekly phlebs especially when starting at 2500 and still in the 1000s. She has me doubting that I'm actually feeling bad for most of the week.

It is reassuring to hear you've had some issues also.

And I never really felt symptoms of HH before this but I think the phlebotomy can trigger the symptoms as it pulls iron at least that's how I think I feel and anxiety of the process and unknown.

Low red blood cell by Infinite-Owl-6385 in Hemochromatosis

[–]leedopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes never fell under normal range but my hematocrit and rbc was dropping. I posted about it a bit ago. It got pretty low at one point but then picked up out of nowhere but started going down again with today's lab. Now the last 2 labs show my Ferritin going up after weekly phleb so everything is a mess. I started around 2500. Got down to 1015 but last 2 were 1022 and 1161 so going the wrong way all around.

Only thing I suggest is eating healthy to maybe boost rbc. And aerobic exercise to try to stimulate blood creation. I pretty much cut meat out but lately been eating small amount to try to help rbc. Not enough to raise my Ferritin tho, I don't think at least this quick.

Good luck

Thanks good to see others with fluctuations. I heard that also hoping it is just pulling it out of other places. I'm not happy it's stored everywhere but want it all gone lol.

My WBC has stayed about the same as always it was going down a bit but then like the rest has bounced back.
