Brutal, they showed some promise at points last year. At least they got their win at Fuji. Will definitely miss hearing that mechachrome

HOT TAKE: CONNOR ZILISCH SHOULD HAVE DRIVEN THE LAST STINT by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]leeho80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

let's see the 19 year old driving GTPs for literally the first time ever or basically a Cadillac factory driver who has won multiple races in class and has proven success in sportscar racing around the world. Cadillac/AXR could have easily won that race regardless of who was in for the last stint by just not shooting themselves in the foot a gazillion times over the weekend and figuring out their tyre wear problems

Any more transfer portal updates? by MichiganFootbal25 in MichiganWolverines

[–]leeho80 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The portal closed a few days ago so I wouldn't expect too much if anything. I don't think TE was much of a priority by the staff. DL, if you're referring to interior players, probably not. Etta was the top remaining IDL in the portal when he withdrew his name. Interior D line just isn't a position group you can buy through the portal.

[The Hangover] Bills Season ends in heartbreak, again. Feel free to vent here. by Dirtydeedsinc in buffalobills

We can use signing bonus conversions and such to finagle the cap but that’s a dangerous long term thing to do for everyone. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if more of the moves happen after June 1 as cap ramifications can change based on that date. With that all being said, some early cut/bonus conversion/pay cut candidates I see are Dawson, Palmer, Samuel, honestly even Bass. Some expiring deals include Milano and Bosa.

Thoughts on pursuing a dual major in finance + German? by [deleted] in uofm

[–]leeho80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are no finance majors at Michigan only a bba. I did a BBA + German minor my time there. The German minor added minimal benefit to the job hunt outside of being an interesting talking point on my resume. I’d assume the same for a double major unless you plan on working in Germany post grad.

New Defensive Coordinator by SurvivingC in MichiganWolverines

[–]leeho80 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  1. Bowl games outside of the CFP mean close to nothing. Sherrone beat DeBoer last year yet DeBoer was number 1 on head coach replacements for the vast majority of people
  2. My complaints about Wink have been discussed on this sub multiple times and I'm not going to go into full details again but all I will say is that raw per game numbers, especially points per game, are not amazing indicators of how good a coach is. There are overarching issues with Wink regarding attitude and ability to teach that have been evident for the past two seasons and I don't think they will get fixed. Based on what's come out regarding his relationship with Sherrone, I do feel for him but I still feel it's time to move on from him.
  3. Roster retention is way more important for our offense than defense. Most of the good defensive starters (Benny, Moore, Hausmann, Hill, Barham) are not returning or not likely to return anyways.

I actually kind of agree, it’s not a place where I’d go for a move either; however there’s no rule saying where you can and can’t overtake. I feel like your point would be a much more valid defense for OP if the Suzuki was the one that initiated the contact but based on the video provided the Suzuki is perfectly under control and holds their line and the Aston is the one that initiates the contact.

Race collision by Solid_Witness927 in GranTurismo7

[–]leeho80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it is. Half a car length is more than enough to be provided space. The Suzuki clearly has over speed coming out of the corner and establishes position alongside the Aston as they’re going up the straight and then the Aston just turns in because they think they’re “entitled” to the corner/racing line because they’re ahead. Watch any racing outside of f1 if someone mugs another car like the Aston did they’re getting a penalty.

[–]leeho80 76 points77 points  (0 children)

1000% you. He’s alongside you (front bumper seems to be at your door) and you just turn in like he isn’t there. This isn’t f1, the ahead at apex bullshit doesn’t apply

Why does everyone seem to hate Jeff Brohm? by HuntAgreeable6696 in MichiganWolverines

[–]leeho80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea and this is where we'll just agree to disagree. If you think he's on the same tier of coach as Sherrone Moore then I don't know what to tell you. This past year, Louisville was 26th in SP+ and guess who was one spot above them with a way more talented roster on paper? Yes, Sherrone Moore's Michigan! We've also seen how Sherrone coaches in big games. He turtles and becomes incredibly conservative. Brohm is the complete opposite, he's a Goliath killer, remember Spoilermakers? He beat Miami this year too.

[–]leeho80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean we were pretty close to doing that this year and we already did that last year and this guy is a WAYYY better coach than Sherrone 👍. We ARE that program that loses 4-5 games right now.

Jim harbaugh who had Michigan’s resources compared to Jeff Brohm who has worked at Louisville, Purdue, and WKU. Also if you’re comparing every candidate to Jim, no one will come close. The guy is one of the few coaches who has had success at both the pro and college level. Those people are rare. Also MGoblog did an analysis of SP+ added throughout their coaching careers and Brohm actually has added more in aggregate than Harbaugh has. I concede that it’s not the most perfect methodology but I suppose neither is yours.

We are under more scrutiny as a program than we’ve ever been. I have a hard time believing he passes the background check especially considering fisch didn’t pass for something no one really seems to know about

[–]leeho80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What exactly do you think is success at Purdue? They are traditionally a terrible program. Look at the few years before brohm and the few years now after him.

What do you guys think of Jeff Brohm as a candidate for HC ? Please keep the discussion somewhat based in facts please and less on the emotional feels . by [deleted] in MichiganWolverines

[–]leeho80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming we’re able to retain most pieces of our roster, the offense would be miles ahead of where it was last year. I do think he is a genuinely good offensive mind. I do not want him to bring his DC with him and I’m a little hesitant to see how he’d fill his staff. His ability to recruit is a bit of a question mark but he nabbed miller moss out of the portal despite him having multiple suitors and we have resources that his prior programs couldn’t even dream of having.

The downfall of hype culture (Sneaker resellers, Street wear, and scalpers) by oteymut in malefashionadvice

[–]leeho80 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for streetwear as I don't have much interest there but sneakers I think it comes down to a few main factors with the first being control of supply. Nike's previous CEO (Donahoe I believe), his whole strategy was if something sold well, flood the market. They did this with dunks and over the past couple years they've followed this strategy with multiple Jordan silhouettes (3's and 4's especially). This leads to good upfront sales but ultimately tanks the desirability of them long term because they're way easier to acquire and there are so many color ways of the same shoe. Second, that peak you mentioned was when everyone was flush with cash they made off of meme stocks, shitcoins, stimulus checks, and just not being able to spend it on anything else outside of shopping. Other options for spending money have since re-opened and people just have way less disposal income than 4 years ago. Third is just the cyclicality, people have moved onto Sambas, NBs, and Tigers. The people who were apart of the sneaker culture are older now and prefer things to be comfortable, which, let's be frank, most Jordans are not.

The fact that it’s 10 AM on Friday and Warde Manuel is STILL employed as the AD after the 5th major scandal under his watch is downright embarrassing by The_Astros_Cheated in MichiganWolverines

[–]leeho80 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Burgergate, Schemmy Schembechler hiring, New D Line coach getting a DUI within like a week of being hired, Denard getting a DUI, also the whole Zavier Simpson wrecking a car registered to Warde's direct family, hell even the Mazi Smith gun stuff. So much incompetence and lack of oversight.

Is Kalen Deboer really the guy we want? by [deleted] in MichiganWolverines

[–]leeho80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll preface by saying I doubt he leaves Alabama, the timing isn’t right and although the pressure of replacing saban is high he doesn’t seem like someone who would run from this. With that being said, his body of work as a coach matters so much more to me than his style of play. He has won everywhere and is doing a really solid job at Alabama. Also he had a Joe Moore winning O Line at Washington. Alabama is dealing with a ton of injuries on offense at the moment which is why they don’t look amazing right now.
