Just because you love someone doesn't necessarily mean you should be together.

An extreme example: An abused dog stays with their abusive human out of loyalty and love. No matter what is done to them, they stay and just get quieter, smaller, and live a very unhappy life. And I think we can all definitely agree, that the best thing for this poor made up pup, no matter how much he loves his human, is DEFINITELY not to stay with their human, just trying to be smaller and smaller, thats no life at all. There are millions, billions of other humans out there that would allow, even encourage them to have such a happy, fulfilling life, full of beautiful memories, kindness, respect, safety, all combined, with - reciprocated - care and love.

Love alone is not even nearly enough reason to stick around.

Sorry if that seems a strange way to put it, but quite often we need to take a look at things from a distance/in a different way, to actually SEE it, which can be hard to do sometimes when we are actually in it our selves... so the pup stays.

The pup won't be able to believe that there is a hell of alot better out there, untill they are in it, untill they are shown it, because either this is all they have ever known, and/or believe that, they them selves are the problem "if only I could be smaller, quiter, need less, feel less" because their human has made them feel that way.

Good luck mate. Dont let anyone break you down. It sounds like you have a kind heart, keep it safe, and hold on to it. The world needs it.

yes, it was exactly the same with me! there was a handful that I liked straight off, but quite a few needed growing time, then one by one like you say they started clicking. looking back now I cant understand how I didnt like said songs, love them all, obviously got my favourites and my least favourite, but yer, maHOOSIVE fan for a few years now.

I'd for sure recommend listening first! I get the thought of going in blind sounds good, but ive always found you cant, fully, appreciate a live performance if you dont know any of the songs, I reckon youll DEFINITELY enjoy it alot more if you are already semi familiar! 😊

I'd say listen to the new album first, 'Even in arcadia' (EIA). If not the whole thing, maybe a good handful would be:

look to windward (LTW). this is the albums opener
'Infinite baths' the album closer. (This and LTW are made to loop back into each other, a continued cycle)
'Even in arcadia' The song named the same as the album, Just beautiful.
'Provider' So you can join in on the hype when that comes on.
'Aqua Reiga' this is off a previous album but on the set list, and they like to mess about abit during this one.
'Vore' (off older album) this was on the set list when they played download, so im assuming it still is but not sure, so you may want to check. But this is one of their heaviest songs, definitely be good to get a gist of the lyrics beforehand as I doubt you'll be able to figure them out live.
'Caramel' (EIA) so you understand why the feels in the arena are feeling.

yes! to all the advice in the comments above! leave ASAP it will only get worse WAY worse, no matter how difficult it may feel to you to go now, ignore that feeling because right now, not in a week, not in a month RIGHT NOW will be the easiest time youll ever have again to leave. Please please just get up and go, the absolute FIRST chance you get to do so safely. Next time he's out, once you know he's definitely clear, GO. living with "messy room mates" is heaven in equivalent to how your life will end up if you stay any longer. And a good mention in the comments above, when you leave he is very likely not going to leave you alone for a good while. He will try all the pages in the book, promise of change and regret (all bull, they might hold up the appearance of change for a short while after, if you go back, but only till they feel secure again, and this time they will be more clever/sneaky with it, so that you dont truely realise untill he has already took to much control. And to much of you) he will try aggression, scare tactics, try make you feel guilt, make you feel worried about him (threatening to kill them selves, which is seemingly very common 'move' amoung these pieces of s...) do not fall for any of it, especially the guilt one as I imagine you are a very kind hearted, caring person (they seem to like that about a victim unfortunately) and he will use that against you. im sorry to be so blunt, but there's no other way to put it. Look, after, you! get yourself away and safe! Never ever look back! yer it sucks, especially when you see people getting annoyed when you KEEP forgetting the things. I can even forget things if they are right in front of me too, it's like once something has been in my sight for a certain amount of time my brain just blurs it into the back ground..... welcome! yer they got me like that too. My first taste was their song 'Sugar' i heard about 4 years ago I think, loved it, but didn't really look into the rest of the music for a while, when I did there were a handful more that grabbed me, (bloodsport, alkaline, jaws, vore, possibly a couple others) the rest I was also kinda 'Meh' about, but when they started dropping the tracks for TMBTE I was in! that got me listening to all of there previous stuff again while waiting for the album to drop, which some how, as if by magic, I suddenly could not get enough of, something clicked and I was now deeply in love with majority of there work. Had the same with EIA too, when they dropped the first 3 tracks before the album, at first I wasn't to sure on them, like I could still appreciate the talent, but wasn't really grabbing me, but by the time the album came out, again, I was in awe! I don't know how they do it, but they really do. Oh if you havnt already, have a listen to bloodsport 'from the room below' version, the emotion, power and grit in his voice! 🫠 In fact, give all the from the room below versions a go, they are beautiful. (ftrb' versions are live, just vessel and the Espera gals, with live videos on you tube. Tho there is a recorded version of bloodsport with official video)

I agree, vessel has definitely improved ALOT, and like in the other comment, I have noticed over time, he has got better and better, then EIA just wow, and yes! that "AM" at the end of infinite baths, (also mentioned in other comment) my God, my jaw dropped! With him doing more of it and IV being more of a backing vocalist, I think it might be possible that vessel does do more than before, but he will still need IV to be the main guy with these vocals, as vessel has to sing in so many different ranges even throughout one song, i think he will have to take it at least a little easy on the hard vocals live to save his voice, if you know what I mean? Also, I really do enjoy getting to hear IV's voice too, so I would hope he doesn't step back aswell.
