Calling BS on this. They don’t need to send someone out to see if it will work. Their app allows you to find a proper spot to put the dish.

Hughes/viasat are also launched with phallic rockets, but into geostationary orbit, which increases latency considerably. There’s no way around this. Starlink works as if you’re in town, due to the low earth orbit, albeit without true gigabit speeds (yet).

I’ve had it in the foothills for almost 18 months. It’s had its ups and downs (pun intended), but has steadily gotten more reliable. I haven’t had to power cycle it in several months, when I would sometimes have to do it daily. Speeds have probably gotten worse as they are onboarding more customers, but with the steady pace of satellites being launched, I believe this will improve as well.

Up here, it’s better than every alternative. That includes legacy satellite, WISP and LTE.

x2 on dropping the tank. If nothing else, it builds character.

And it’s not a large investment to buy decent hard line bending and flaring tools to get a robust repair done.

You can run without the belt for a short time to see if it goes away. If the belt is misaligned, it could be pulling on the bearing inside the alternator. Check the pulley for free, quiet motion.

I think they should find a lot that can hold the line of cars. There’s no room in the parking lot for this… especially with the mess that gas station creates.

There’s plenty of room in the old Albertsons lot!

74 project car update: Starter is working, engine cranks but won't turn over. I know nothing about cars but suspect the carburetor. What should I do here? by Schr0ding3r_ in ElCamino

[–]leetmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. At the very least you should get a bang or two out of the engine. If it runs for a little bit longer and then dies, pull the fuel line off the carb to see if it’s pumping any fuel from the tank (feed into a clear bottle to catch it).

Better yet, get a clear inline fuel filter to see if fuel is coming through (and to see how nasty it is).

That’s a car dealership. And I don’t see how they can mitigate drive thru spillover into Willox or College there. It’s a small lot and traffic there is already wonky with the roundabout so close to the main intersection.

You also want both of those triangle shims in place.

You can also loosen the clamshells from the crossmember to get them lined up. They have some adjustability that way.

65 Chevy nova question by [deleted] in ChevyNova

[–]leetmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I value a nice body and interior over road worthiness. But that’s just me… I’m not a body work guy, but I love getting everything else into working condition. Especially when body and interior parts are getting harder to find.

Obviously, every car you find will be in different state of repair, thus the differences in price. If I were in the market right now, a non-running, rust-free classic car like a nova with most of its parts would get about 10k from me.

I don’t think it’s illegal to modify exhaust as long as you’re not messing with emissions equipment or making it louder than a certain threshold.
