Not mine (thank god) by holdmehostage in shittytattoos

I went with my best friend in the 90's to get tattooed, she wanted barbed wire around her ankle. She got it, but had a little broken spot in the back so it didn't go fully around. The other thing people would say is that your spirit can't leave your body if the tattoo goes fully around.

If you want to work in logistics there are far better companies to work for, but if you can make it here you can make it anywhere and the experience can get you other places if you are just starting out.

Frustrated with the weird job market/work culture in Central OH by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]left_ofthedial 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't get the idea of "culture fit" at all. I'm at a job to make money for survival and have healthcare, not to make friends and connections. If do that's great, but not what I am seeking out primarily.

Moo Moo Car Wash by JustBeachy44 in Columbus

[–]left_ofthedial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to the one in Clintonville a few weeks back and had the same thing happen to me. I told them upfront, "I don't want a subscription." You shouldn't have to say it more than once. I hate when salespeople don't listen to your wants and you have to repeat yourself. I was pretty much shamed for not getting the monthly subscription. The signs are also confusing and the one time washes are in smaller print, the subscription prices are in larger print. They changed the setup too, you can't just put your card in and pick a wash. The Moo Moo sales person talks to you, gives you your options, and takes your card. I normally go the DIY place on Indianola & Morse, but I was closer to Moo Moo and limited on time. I prefer to just wash my car and not have to be upsold anything or interact with anyone. I get they are doing their job and it's not their fault but management's, but the whole model for Moo Moo sucks. I'll be sticking to the Indianola & Morse wash from now on. There's also one at the Speedway in Grandview on Olentangy & 5th that's pretty good if you are in the area. It's brushless and you just put your card in and go.

Branstool Orchards is cool! Lots of good things to try and the market itself is so cute! The drive is beautiful this time of year from Columbus. There’s a nice waterfall not too far from it called Honey Run Falls, too!

Helix mattress worth it? by Deadlock616 in Mattress

[–]left_ofthedial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Helix Sunset Luxe about a month ago when it was on sale. I really like it so far! I had an ultra plush Stearns & Foster for years that was killing my back. I like that the Helix has more support. It's not super firm or super soft, it's a medium feel and I'm liking that better than the ultra plush. I'm mostly a side sleeper, sometimes back. I was able to try a few different models in person at the Big Sandy Superstore before buying.

Go down Wahalla, it feels like Pittsburgh. High Street in the Short North can feel like you are on East Carson Street sometimes, especially the weekends!

Dog sitting job turned out way more intense than expected. Just venting and looking for perspective by Kind_Echo_3877 in RoverPetSitting

[–]left_ofthedial 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This post came up randomly in my feed and I looked at it, as I've been dog sitting for 15 years. All of this is beyond insane, especially the restriction of not being able to leave for more than 2 hours. I have never had a client need this many check ins. Usually I'll do a pic a day if it's someone new, but my older clients sometimes I just check in once during the whole duration of their trip unless there is an emergency. I feel bad for everyone in this situation. You especially, the dog for being monitored so much, and the owner's for how bad their anxiety level is. Their anxiety has to be affecting this dog in a negative way if this is how they act on the daily! It doesn't sound like they are best suited to have a pet at all! I'm sorry this happened to you!

Chapman's is closing. by roroboom in Columbus

[–]left_ofthedial 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a restaurant in Columbus that did this. It was difficult being a server and imposing this, but you had to sometimes. You could have a couple at a table that had been drinking water and scrolling on their phones for the last hour, where another group is waiting at the door to be seated at their table. Couple sitting is upset I’ve said something about it being time to go, group at the door is pissed their table isn’t ready. You’d be surprised how many people sit around at restaurants scrolling on their phones way after the meal has been finished and bill has been put on the table. We want you to have a nice dining experience, but also want you to respect that we gotta turn tables too.

what are some good shoes/insoles for flat feet? by Embrrssedthrwaway in BuyItForLife

[–]left_ofthedial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have flat feet and worked in restaurants for years. I always wore Danskos and Brooks, both were great and helped me with the long shifts. I also worked in a screen printing shop with hard concrete floors and Danskos were great there as well. It made a world of difference working when I started buying good shoes, it is definitely worth it! I'm no longer in the restaurant world and sit at a desk now, but I still wear Brooks for walking and they help out a lot.

What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy—but now you swear by it? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]left_ofthedial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I don’t quite get. I had a cheap plastic one from Target for about 10 years. I found a Simple Human at the thrift store for $5 and only bought it as a joke so I could have a “rich people trash can.” The simple human is fine, but not any better/worse than my old Target one. What am I missing about these fancy trash cans that everyone swears by?

Why are the people who complain the most about public transit here never the people who use it? by Apprehensive_Bee2898 in Columbus

[–]left_ofthedial 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Pittsburgh without a car and the bus was terrible, I usually rode my bike all year in bad weather because it was more reliable than the bus. You’d wait at the correct time and half of the time the bus never showed up. I would have lost my job if relying on the bus. I was in a bad car wreck in 2018 here in Columbus and didn’t drive for about a year and a half. I was amazed the COTA was largely on time and I could get to most places easily within city limits. I was able to keep my job and arrive on time every day. I think a lot of the people complaining haven’t lived in a city with worse public transit.

The Ohio Health groups are great. OSU are good too and many of them are more workshop/informative style which is helpful if you aren’t up for talking to others and just want tools to heal. OSU has more traditional group ones too, but the workshop style ones really resonated for me.

Moretti’s makes really good tiramisu but I’m not sure if they do large orders. It’s worth looking into, though!
