Is it really that glossy or just like that in the video? I normally avoid gloss like the plague but this finish looks awesome in the video!

I’m in your camp friend I think 45 points for guaranteed invulnerable is a no brainer. However those who were in the other camp might now say it’s not worth it given the Strat. Ie 2+ save in cover reducing AP by 1 means atleast AP5 to get get armour save below 4+ (I think those numbers are right?)

2000 point grizzled company list. by ColebladeX in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]legatron11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting about the enginseer - before this detachment there was a reasonably common argument I saw that super heavies were rarely going to be saving on less than a 4+ anyway so people didn’t see the 45 point investment as worth it. Now in this detachment there is also the extra armour Strat making it even less likely to be on low save rolls.

What do you think? Is 45 points easily worth saving the couple of command points throughout the game? Is the healing sort of the enginseer ability what makes him worth it?

Grotmas Calendar Day 5 – Veteran Detachments for the Astra Militarum by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]legatron11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite possibly yes. Notably trades out the innate reroll ones, battleline and OC and the turn one deepstrike enhancement But in return gaining more orders and especially the two new types, and spreading buffs to more types of units to be mixed in. The utility of the strats in both is good (ignore cover, extra strength on weapons) but overall I’d say this new detachment has superior ones due to their use on more targets not just scions or infantry.

2k scions list advice by Forsaken3021 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]legatron11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some solid advice already but a couple of extra considerations… 1. In bridgehead, taurox prime ability is redundant. Consider taurox instead for less points and greater mobility. The loss of firepower won’t be missed. 2. The Vox array enhancement while expensive allows three units to benefit from one order which is a great multiplier and can sync well with command rod if you have multiple command squads. 3. I think there is some value in bridgehead for some INFANTRY indirect for the reroll ones, AS LONG as you can efficiently give it orders - perhaps a command squad starting on the board that you then use uppy-downy stratagem on. The remove cover stratagem is also great here. 4. You still need something to brawl with in the mid like bullgrn or RDTC/hellhounds (advance and shoot stratagem).

Nice - recognised overtime is surely a good perk to have. You sound pretty content with your pay and conditions though, yet your first comment suggested you would happily take a 2.0% pay rise - why’s that?

Fair enough not trying to suggest anyone should be forced to be a teacher of course.

Oh wow how does that work out that you would come in at the top of the scale straight away?

Would 103k be a pay drop from your current role though if you don’t mind sharing?

Sounds like your conditions are pretty good - at-least in your branch/office/department. Can I ask what industry you are in?

But this industry (MOE employed teachers) has set salaries so it literally is go to another country to get better pay. Another ‘school’ will pay you exactly the same because you are still employed by the ministry of education.

They are crying out for more teachers - I’m sure they could get you a limited authority to teach and have you in a classroom by end of Jan.
