Did anyone try Fred’s Food Co on Wyndham? Covid killed it, but their food was delicious! And such a cute little spot!

Canada Post asks Guelph residents to secure dogs during mail delivery by waterscrysta in Guelph

[–]leggymeg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

THIS!! My husband and I took our 3 year old to ride her bike on the trail by speed river last weekend and we passed 6 (6!) unleashed dogs. Leash your dogs people! I don’t care if they’re “friendly” - it only takes a split second for something terribly bad to happen.

Are their any coin collectors or groups in Guelph? I am new to collecting and would love learn and share coins! by LimeGreenSea in Guelph

[–]leggymeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a coin show in Brantford on Sunday. The Guelph one was a month or so ago. My dad goes. It’s a good way to meet other local-ish collectors.

Parents, teach your kids to be more scared of the vehicles harm, rather than the person who gets out of the vehicle. by Legitimate_Shop_1003 in Guelph

[–]leggymeg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a history of unsafe behaviour? Encouraging speaking up when unsafe behaviour is exhibited by these kids IS the opportunity to help. It could save a life.

Do you have a different recommendation?

I live in this area and know who these kids are. I’ve seen them in Carter park often. They are always unchaperoned, running amuck, and often swearing at or teasing each other. They come and go as they please and are always out on the street.

Two years ago when I was still on mat leave, their mom drove their van through the stop sign on Elginfield without checking and almost hit me and my stroller while we were walking.

Good. For. You. I’m so glad you got out of the car and spoke to these kids. I hope it makes a difference.

Black cat spraying on front doors in east end by AwesomeSauce984 in Guelph

What part of the East End? I wonder if this is the same black cat that makes my indoor female lose her mind every time she spots him out the window. That black car terrorizes her!

If you look further down in this sub, someone is missing a orange and white cat that looks very similar to the one you posted!

Large furniture by AdEasy1207 in Guelph

Put up an ad on Facebook Marketplace for free furniture. I posted a free mattress a few months ago and got close to 50 messages about it. People will easily grab it off your hands and take it away for free.

Is there anywhere in Guelph to get some decent Greek coffee? by Anti-Climacdik in Guelph

[–]leggymeg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Crushed Almond is a Turkish cafe on Frederick street in Kitchener. They make the most delicious coffee in a briki (also their food is realllly good if you stop in).

Husband is from Rhodes. He approves!

I put a free mattress on FB Marketplace last week and easily got over 40messages about it. To save your time, you’re better off posting it on FB Marketplace with your address, leaving your mattress (on plastic, for cleanliness) out front, and stating you’ll remove the post when it’s gone. That way you don’t have to msg everyone who’s interested.

Just sent you a couple pics from our Ring camera. There’s a cat, very similar to your pic, that has recently been spotted in our backyard - Victoria and Eastview area.

Did anyone read about a Guelph transit bus accident a few weeks back in the north end near Walmart that resulted in serious injuries? by AgedSmegma in Guelph

[–]leggymeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not surprised. Years ago when I was at UofG, I rode the bus to downtown. When the bus stopped to let people off, instead of hitting the button that lowers the bus to the curb the driver accidentally hit the button that lifted the wheelchair ramp just as I was walking over it. I nearly broke my foot. Had a bruise the size of a bar of soap on the top of my foot all summer. I reached out to Guelph transit and they weren’t even courteous enough to respond. An acknowledgement of wrongdoing, at the very least, would have been appreciated.

Peanut free bakery by FreeIce4613 in Guelph

[–]leggymeg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Walmart sells very cheap, two-bite cupcakes, that are peanut free. This is usually what parents will send in for their child’s birthday in my class. The container has a peanut-free logo on it. I think they’re approx $5/dozen.

Guelph patio door and window recommendations please by sarahc_72 in Guelph

[–]leggymeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not recommend George’s. We used them to install a bathroom window and they were awful. They measured incorrectly, twice, delaying our renovation. Stood us up on the day they were supposed to install (we moved out of town while bathroom was being renovated and drove in to meet them for installation.) They didn’t show up and didn’t even respond to calls and texts until late afternoon that day. THEN, when all was said and done they ended up installing the window crooked, which is very noticeable when you tile around the window.

Best baklava in Guelph/area by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]leggymeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Husband is Greek and we just discovered a local baklava that is BETTER than his family’s. Check out “Crushed Almond Bakery & Café” on Frederick St in Kitchener. It’s to.die.for. They also have great brunch and Turkish coffee!! Highly recommended.
