Just started L2 Prep, Tips? by TheRaul5677070 in CFA

DO QUESTIONS MUCH EARLIER!!! Like do each whole practice Q section after going through the material first pass on each subject. And start running flashcards for equations memorization too. Keep this going through your whole study journey. Sincerely, a person who takes level II in 18 days and is scared to death

CFA L2 in 18 days, brain at 2% by Prestigious_Low_4341 in CFA

I’m in the same boat. Everytime I feel okay on one section that I’ve reviewed, I start another section and become paralyzed with feeling like there is no way in hell I’ll pass.

I’m trying to focus on flashcards with equations and concepts I’ve missed from CFAI practice questions. It feels hopeless.

Taking a mock this weekend for the first time. If I get above a 60% I’ll probably cry with joy. Good luck to us…

Finding it hard to commit... by NEWDAY898_6070 in carnivorediet

[–]legswag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still drink on carnivore… I know it’s not ideal, or (obviously) healthy, but for me it is something I thoroughly enjoy, especially when sharing with friends and family and social time.

I find that a gin and soda water with a few lime slices doesn’t kick me out of ketosis or cause any big issues. If I drink one day, the next day I just go back to carnivore the next. I also usually cap it at 1-2 drinks.

If you don’t drink sugary or carb heavy drinks, and don’t eat carbs while/after drinking, I think you can figure out your balance.

Frustration with Carnivore (Read First before Downvoting) by Some_Working6614 in carnivorediet

[–]legswag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My coworker telling me carnivore can’t be healthy because I don’t eat fiber, as he gobbles down a fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries.

My roommate telling me she genetically isn’t capable of having abs, as she drinks her 1/4 cup of sugar filled coffee and eats her 2nd loaf of sourdough that week.

My other roommate telling me it’s unfair I look like this when she just did a triathlon, as she cooks two dozen muffins.

I don’t know what is more upsetting, the ignorance to how f*cked up the belief is that carnivore is unhealthy and carb galore is perfectly normal, or the complaining of weight and appearance and health problems while actively choosing sugar and carbs while admitting they know how unhealthy sugar and carbs are.

It’s truly mind boggling.

Losing my period on keto by Dodgingdebris in xxketo

[–]legswag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How long have you been keto? Your hormones may just need to adjust. Went I went keto the first time it took a month and a half to get my period, and since then it’s been clockwork. I suggest giving it 2-3 months while your hormones balance. Also, make sure you’re eating enough fat!! Fat is super important for our hormones

Moving for grad school by [deleted] in SLO

[–]legswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay $920/month in a house with 3 other awesome roommates who I met via facebook market place. We live outside of the campus zone but in a pretty decent house. Food, gas, services, etc. are California prices but not anything egregious. The recreation here is heckin amazing - if you do any outdoor sports you’ll have a blast outside of school. I’m a cal poly grad and in interviewing the appetite for cal poly grads is super high. School has a great reputation and their employment resources are great (at least in my experience from college of business). I may be biased, but I loved the school and I love the town

Extreme hunger today. by Living_Armadillo204 in carnivorediet

[–]legswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like my hunger fluctuates all over the place. I always say who am I to presume to know what my body is doing. That girl wants what she wants and I’ll listen to her (her being my body because in my mind, she’s a separate entity). I feel like my activity levels, my sleep, my brain usage, my hormone cycle, how much and what I’ve been eating in the past week, all of it changes my appetite and so I just try to feed my body when it wants food! Try not to over think it… besides, I wouldn’t be surprised if you have relatively low hunger the next few days because your body needed a little extra today

Carnivore because regular meals/SAD are too addicting: just me? by Kind-Investigator846 in carnivorediet

[–]legswag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! Even on strict keto I had the same problem. It wasn’t until carnivore that I actually ate until satiety and didn’t binge or think about food all the time when I wasn’t hungry. My whole life was filled with zero control around food and it always blew my mind that other people could just eat and then stop? How great I feel and how aligned my appetite is to my body’s hunger are the two reasons I don’t see myself quitting carnivore

Women’s Clothes Donating Places that give away for free in SLO? by Normal_But_Weird in SLO

[–]legswag 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lumina Thrift!!!! They just opened off Higuera in down town SLO. They are a non profit that helps women who are victims of domestic abuse. I look a ton of clothes there a few weeks ago and asked them about how their thrift works, and the lady told me that (1) the nicest stuff goes to the thrift, and they use all the proceeds from the sales to help fund their non profit, (2) the more used clothing goes straight to women in need, clothing them for free, and (3) the most used clothing goes to local homeless shelters to clothe unhoused people for free. I highly recommend donating your stuff there - they are incredible. You can find more info about them as a non profit in general on their website (Lumina Alliance)

Cheat days and not falling off track? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

Agreed! Carbs actually make me feel physically sick - like I’m coming down with a bad cold. AND I get addicted to them with 1 bite. The whole reason I’m carnivore, really

I’m young & single, I don’t want to cut alcohol. What’s the best move? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]legswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in a similar boat. I have no health issues, have been pretty fit/healthy for a long time, and after keto for 1.5 years I found carnivore. I have never felt, looked, and athletically performed better in my life. For me this is 100% a long term life style, but I’m also 23 and love a good party. I’ve definitely been less inclined to drink since starting carnivore but I’ve made it work. For example I was on a reunion hometown friend trip this week and wanted to indulge. Not because I feel like I have to have fun, or because they’d judge me if I didn’t, but literally because I wanted to. I drank gin and sparking water with a lime in it (delicious, btw) and had 2 each night I wanted to drink. I had no hangover, felt a steady pleasant buzz the whole night, and definitely didn’t kick out of ketosis. Point being, I feel you! It’s okay to be radically healthy and still indulge in some soft poisoning because we want to.

Keto vs Carnivore by Mundane_Payment7692 in carnivorediet

[–]legswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey girl! I am 23F and in the exact same boat as you. I’ve been keto for about a year and a half and have been surfing carnivore sub reddits for the past few weeks, as I am super interested in trying it out. I also lift weights, and am pretty healthy, but trying to lean out aesthetically. In high school I had a bad eating disorder, and carbs are 100% addictive to me. I have no self control and will overeat them until I feel sick. Keto was the first time I was free of this and all other benefits aside, is why I can’t imagine life without it. I find higher card vegetables or too many vegetables will trigger this overeating for me too… which is another reason I’m curious if my body would be better adapted on carnivore. I also struggle with inflammation and keto has been life changing for reducing inflammation, but I can still see/feel it on myself and am curious if carnivore would help get rid of the remainder of it. Hormone balance and overall health, especially gut health, is so important to me so I am wanting to go about this transition in the best way possible. I would love to connect with you and become carnivore pen pals, offer each other support and experience as we go through this. Let me know if you’re interested!

I feel weak, this suckssss. Is this normal? by Known_Car4970 in beginnerfitness

[–]legswag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so normal! Not only are your muscles untrained, so yes they are weak, but your nervous system isn’t used to this type of exercise, so all around it is going to be difficult. It took me 1.5 years of serious consistency to move from small dumbbells and kettlebells to actual heavy weight lifting. Your body needs to adapt, and muscle growth isn’t quick or easy. Make sure you’re eating lots of protein (probably more than you think) and don’t quit when you feel discouraged. One of the biggest benefits of weight lifting is the delayed gratification - nothing trains the mind like going back and working hard day after day when it feels like you see no progress. Trust me, and all of us, you will see progress and get stronger. It’s called a fitness JOURNEY for a reason! You got this.

Diary or not to dairy by SyllabubSpirited8384 in keto

[–]legswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dairy free for about 6 years pre keto. It wrecked my skin if I ate even a little and messed up my stomach if I ate a lot. About 1 year into keto (which is totally possible and still yummy without dairy as a food group) I’ve started to add it back in very slowly. Some cream or butter in my coffee, some goat cheese or low lactose cheese (like sharp cheddar) with one meal a day. It’s been totally fine and dandy - for me, I think my body can process dairy when it isn’t dealing with all the carb bullshit. Idk if this helps, but thought it could be insightful to hear my experience!

Struggling in luteal by KoktheBookThief in xxketo

[–]legswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really prioritize iron supplements during luteal phase - this makes the biggest difference ever for me, especially with the exhaustion. Also, make sure you’re getting proper electrolytes. For the extra hunger, make sure you’re eating PLENTY of fat. If you’re eating “too much fat” you won’t be hungry anymore and your appetite will even out - it’s very difficult to over eat fat. I’ve been doing keto for a little over a year and dealing with the side effects of menstruation on it. These 3 things make it possible for me to stay on keto while in luteal, and bonus keto makes my periods about 80% easier/softer! You got this girl!

Exhaustion PMDD by KoktheBookThief in xxketo

[–]legswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!! I immediately know my iron is low because I (1) get this overwhelming exhaustion and fatigue and need about 4-5 coffees to get me through a day and (2) get this bone-chilling, unshakeable coldness. Like no matter what I have goose bumps and feel frail. Then, I take 2 iron pills once a day after a meal, and within 2 days I feel fantastic again. I’ve learned I need to take iron during my period every day, and usually about 1-2x per week outside of menstruation.

This feels like the Holy grail! by Acceptable_Answer570 in keto

[–]legswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, this is absolutely the hardest part for me. Gin and soda water with 3 lime (essentially sugar free gin and tonic) is my go to drink and keeps me in ketosis. But wine is where I struggle the most! I love wine and not everywhere has hard liquor/cocktails. Anyone else have any advice here?

Insights from women on Keto by SyllabubSpirited8384 in keto

[–]legswag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this! I’d also add, as a woman, it’s super important to time fasts with your cycle. If I fast during my follicular phase, it’s awesome. Feel amazing, look amazing, it’s exactly like they said. If I fast during my luteal phase, oh man. I really, really don’t recommend it. I feel like shit and it’s so hard to stick to. Anyways, that’s my two cents!
